The Holy Spirit Part 3 Transcript

Welcome, friends, to the broadcast. I’m so glad that you tuned in today. I have my good friend Bobby Crow from Victoria, Mexico, and we’re gonna be talking about the last day outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Do you know what? Jesus told his disciples, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel, but don’t leave town without the Holy Ghost,” and you need the Holy Spirit in your life. Stay tuned. Blessings. We appreciate you.

Welcome, friends, to the broadcast. I’m so glad that you’re here with Pastor Bobby Crow and and myself. Bobby, I’m so glad that you’re here today, and you’re gonna be minister in the church, and we love you. We love what you’re doing in Mexico. And, you know, we thank God for the Holy Spirit, and we thank God for His gifts. And we’ve been talking a little bit this week about how to be led by the Holy Spirit. We talked about the Spirit of Christ in us, being led by the Holy Spirit. We talked about the peace of God, and we talked about the prayer language, you know, of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Both you and I were raised in traditional churches that did not believe in this experience, in the present day experience, of speaking in tongues. But it’s changed our life. And I don’t know about Bobby, but you would’ve never heard of Lawson Purdue in the ministry if I’d never been baptized in the Holy Spirit. And when I got baptized in the Holy Spirit, it really changed my, I knew immediately, when I was baptized in the Holy Spirit, that, you know, I was called to preach the gospel, and I knew I was gonna be preaching and teaching. I didn’t know what aspects, but I knew that. And there are other experiences that I had with the Holy Spirit. Gifts of the Holy Spirit, different things that have really helped me and directed me. And we just thank God for the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

Yeah, well, you know. See, the purpose of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is to empower us to be a witness for God, to tell the world about Jesus. This morning, my wife was listening to a minister as he was teaching, he was teaching about praying. He said, “You know, Jesus never said pray for people to get saved.” And I thought, He said He prayed for people to go and tell.

[Lawson] The message.

To tell the message. And, you know, I had never thought of it that way. But really, that’s the purpose of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It’s not, you know, thank God for the speaking in tongues. I think it’s extremely important. But the basic thing of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is to empower us to go and tell other people about Jesus Christ.

You know, go ahead.

Huh, go ahead. Well, I’ll tell you, something happened to me. This past Saturday, we were getting ready to fly up here to Colorado, and I had to run to the grocery store before we left on our trip. And one of the things that, I’m driving and I’m just kind of praying a little bit, and I said, “God, why is it that, you know, I’m not just talking to everybody that I meet about Jesus. How come I’m not just praying for people all of the time?” You know? And this is what He said. He said, “You’re not full.” He said, “You have the baptism, you have it, you pray in tongues and everything, but the reason you’re not witnessing more than what you should be because you’re not full.”

We need to stay filled with the Holy Ghost.

Staying full. This is one of the things I was looking at, you know, when Peter and John, God used them to speak the name of Jesus over a cripple man, and he got healed. Then they were called before the religious leader, said, you know, “By what power, by what? How did this guy get healed?” And the scripture says that Peter filled with the Holy Spirit. And this is, you know, to be filled with, you know. We receive it, but we need to stay filled. We have a tendency to leak a little bit, you know? You know, as pastors, we’re dealing with things in the church, the different areas of ministry, and finances, and built construction, and all of these things can draw out that anointing. It doesn’t mean that we’ve lost it, it just means it’s not in us as powerful as it should be, as it, of being filled to overflowing.

So, something you’re talking about, some of our good friends disagree a little bit with this, but, in Acts 2, Peter and John were there, and they were filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spoke with other tongues as the Spirit gave an utterance. And then Peter got up and preached, and 3000 people got saved and baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost. And then Acts 4, right? Acts 3, there was this lame man that was carried to the temple gate, and Peter and John were going to the temple to pray, and they met him. And he was asking for an alms. Of course, Peter said, “Silver and gold have I none.” He left his wallet at home. Anybody that knows anything about the scriptures knows those guys had some money, right? But, “Such as I have, give I to thee. In the name of Jesus, get up and walk.” And he took him by the hand, and he went walking, and leaping, and praising God. And so, they were called in. Many people began to follow Jesus, and the Jewish leaders felt threatened. So they called Peter and John in, and they commanded them not to preach or teach anymore in the name of Jesus. But again, it says Peter and John, you know, being filled with the Holy Ghost, they answered from the Spirit. But then later, when they let them go, and threatened them, and commanded them not to preach, they went back to their own company, and it says, “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.”

Just so refreshing.

“And they spoke the word of God with boldness.” And I think that’s correct, it was a refreshing. You know, the Bible actually talks about this in Ephesians 5:18, it says, “being filled with the Holy Spirit.” And if you study that out in the Greek, it means to be continually filled.

Yeah, you stay continually filled.

You need to stay filled with the Holy Spirit.

Well, and how do you stay filled?

You keep drinking.

You’re right.

And you can’t drink with your mouth shut. So we’re talking about not, you know, when they got filled with the Holy Spirit in Acts 2, they said, “Are these men drunk?” People said, “No, it’s only nine o’clock in the morning, they haven’t had time to get drunk yet.” We’re talking about being filled with the Holy Spirit to where it’s noticeably evident in your life.

It’s a refreshing. That’s what we all need, you know. You know, we’ve received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. We speak in tongues and everything. We believe in the power of God. But you know what, we have to keep stirring ourselves up. You know, if you don’t stir yourself up, you’re gonna sink to the bottom.

[Lawson] Amen.

Yeah, but, you know, how do you stir yourself up? Well, I think one of the things is, you take time and you pray in tongues every day.

[Lawson] Amen.

That strengthens you. It’s, you know, the Bible talks about that it gives, it strengthens us by praying in tongues. Then staying in the Word, continually reading, studying, meditating on the Word of God. You know, that helps stir us up to get us to overflowing. And you know, and listening to programs of other ministers, or reading their books, or things like that. Those things help stir us up. But if we don’t do anything, then that anointing kind of settles down. We don’t lose it, but it doesn’t have the same influence and power that we should have.

Overflowing. You know, in John 4:14, Jesus talked to the woman at the well, and he said, “Whoever drinks the water that I give him will have in him a well of life springing up into eternal life.” I believe that’s talking about salvation. And it’s like an artesian well, just bubbling up, just flowing outta you. And that brings salvation to you, right? But then, in John 7:37-39, in that area, Jesus said, “He who believes on me will, out of his belly, will flow rivers of living water.” I believe that’s like the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Yeah, it is. He’s talking about it.

Now, you’ve been talking about staying full of the Holy Spirit, or Andrew Wommack calls it staying full of God. My wife, Barbara, she thrives on quiet time. And she spends time every day, you know, in the Word of God, nearly every day, spends time just meditating in worship, in prayer. And oftentimes, she’ll go to the grocery store. She had the Holy Spirit speak to her here not very long ago. And there was, you know, a young lady she saw in the grocery store with a couple kids. The Lord said, “You talk to her.” She said, “I didn’t know. Is this me, or is this God?” And then she said, “I was in the checkout line, she was right in front of me.” So she said, “I got out.” She said, “I still hadn’t talked to her. We got to the car.” She said, “She’s parked right next to me. And her baby threw something outta the cart and it went under the car.” She said, “I knew right then was my opportunity.” She said, “I went and grabbed that, you know, thing out under the car and gave it to her, and struck up a conversation with her, and said, you know, you’re doing a great job raising your children,” and really began to give her a Word from God. And really ministered to this young woman. And the other day, you know, and she seems like, you know, she goes to grocery stores, so that’s where she’s always ministering to different people. But, you know, she goes out and walks in the morning, she walks with like a 3.1 mile walk in our neighborhood, and she’ll have people, and their dogs will stop, and they won’t move until Barbara gets there. And it’s the Lord working to bring Barbara to that person so she can talk to them, and many times she has. She had a young lady stop her now, you know, we’re nearly 60 years, 58 years old. She had a young person come to her the other day and said, “Hey, I’m having a technology problem on my phone.” Now, what 30 year-old person asks a near to 60 old person for help with technology? I mean, our grandkids are six, seven, eight years old. And you know what? They know more about technology than we do. But Barbara was able to help her and minister to her, and then prayed for her. And Barbara said her hair was every color, you know, but brown. And this girl, Barbara prayed for her and put her hands around and said, “In the name of Jesus.” And the girl said, “In the name of Jesus.” But she had a friend that was actually in Pueblo, and was in a dangerous situation and had asked her to go get her. And Barbara explained to her how to use this map on her phone. Her friend had sent her a thing, and Barbara said, “I really didn’t even know how to do it.” But the Holy Spirit showed her how to do it and minister to this young woman. And when we take time in the presence of God, we’re in the Word, we’re in worship, we’re in prayer, we pray in the Holy Spirit, then we have these divine encounters.

Yeah, and I, you know, I think one of the other things I think has helped is we need to be careful of who we spend time with.

[Lawson] Right, oh.

You know? I mean, you can get with people that can be supposedly your best friends, but they can be some of the most negative people you’ll ever meet. Getting with people that are negative, that don’t, you know, that really don’t move in the Holy Spirit and everything. If you’re not careful, those things can kinda work, you know, against you, and, you know, with, about the anointing. Plus, I believe that as we move in the anointing of the Holy Spirit, I believe there’s times like, we go and we pray for people, you know? I believe the anointing flows through us. And, you know, you and I, we, you know, in church and different meetings that we’ve had, and we go and we pray for people. I believe the anointing flows through us. But then when we’re finally finished, you sit down, you think, “Whoa, my God, I’m worn out.” But it was the anointing, you know, flowing through us. And, you know, Jesus talked about where the woman came up and touched the hem of his robe and was healed. Jesus said, “Hey, somebody touched me. I felt healing. I felt the anointing flow out.” And I think that’s one of the things, that we must stay continually filled, refreshed, overflowing with the Holy Spirit. And it’s easier said than done, but that’s, I believe it’s very important that we do that.

Yes. You know, we’re gonna take just a very short break, but we’re gonna come back and we’re gonna continue to talk about how to stay filled with the Holy Spirit. Which helps. You really find God’s direction in life. We’ll be back in just a few seconds. Stay tuned, blessings. Friends, I wanna share about the special offer that we have today. You know, we’ve been teaching about spiritual gifts and not to be ignorant, and we have some great teaching available on this. I have a series on “Understanding Spiritual Gifts,” which is on the nine manifestations of the Holy Spirit. I have a teaching on “Gifts, Gifts, and more Gifts,” which is talking about the nine manifestations of the Holy Spirit. It’s talking about the five ministry gifts given by Jesus, and also the seven motivational gifts, which I believe are given by God the Father. And so, there’s a lot of instruction and teaching to help you move forth in the anointing that is on your life. And finally, with this package, I’ve included this book, “Absolute Victory in Christ,” where we talk about receiving Jesus as your savior, being baptized in the Holy Spirit, which is like a doorway into all these gifts, and believing the Word of God. You don’t have to be ignorant concerning spiritual gifts. Friends, I’m glad you stayed with us, and we’ve been talking about how to stay filled with the Holy Spirit.

Yeah.

And we’ve talked about being in the Word, being in prayer, listening to good worship. Another thing is being thankful. You know, we need to constantly be thankful. We have so much to be thankful for. And, you know, we are in a world that is so negative, and we have to really guard, you talked about this, guarding your associations. And sometimes people forget, you know, that they have so much to be thankful for, and they don’t look at what they have, they start looking at what they’ve lost, or they start looking at all the problems rather than the answers.

Or just looking at the news.

Yeah, I was gonna talk about.

Oh my Lord. You know, it just, just watching the news. I mean, our president and other people, that, some of the stuff that they’re saying. I tell you, if you sat and listened to those things for very long, I mean, it just begins to just come against you. And so, we gotta be careful what we even watch and what we listen to.

You know, I’m a conservative person, but I made a decision a few years ago, I’m not gonna watch very much. I don’t watch ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, hardly at all. But I’m even careful about the conservative programs, because just like, you know, these others, these liberal sides, they can make you mad, right? Because what they’re doing. But the conservatives, they are mad, right? And I decided that I can’t live my life angry. It’s too expensive, and I’ve gotta stay filled with God. I’ve gotta stay full of joy. And so, I watch a little bit, my wife Barbara, she can watch more of that than me, but I don’t watch hardly any of that, because I don’t wanna be filled with all that negative information of the world.

You watch a lot of it, and sometimes there’s even an anger that rises up within you about what that person says, what they’re doing, and, you know, and all of this. And I can become angry at these people, but at the same time, the Bible says, “Pray for those that are in authority.”

Right, and we do need to pray.

Yeah. And so, and you know, we may, we don’t agree with many of them, but the Bible says we’re supposed to pray for those that are in authority, you know, in government and everything. And we probably oughta pray a whole lot more, and maybe we’ll see more changes begin to take place and everything, but.

You know, we had Lauren Boebert here, and she’s a conservative congresswoman, very young woman, from the western side of Colorado. And she said, “I pray for our president every day.” And she quoted the scripture in Psalm 109, “And may someone else take his office,” she started. And you know, right now, with the current president, we don’t want that happen, because the vice president’d be worse, and then the speaker of the House would be terrible, the situation in office right now. But at the same point in time, I mean, she was just making a joke. Man, we got over a million views overnight in the liberal media tactics. They gave us some more advertisement. But, you know, I went over to speak to this young woman and she goes to a church, like man, and she is full of the Holy Ghost. I mean, she barely got in the meeting, she’d been in Congress and blew in, barely got in the meeting, you know, that morning before she had to speak. But she had her hands up, and she was just worshiping God and speaking in tongues. And, you know, it was amazing. These people that got mad about, you know, what she said, they were calling my staff and making death threats. And it’s okay for them. You know, we on the conservative side couldn’t even make a joke, but they’re making death threats, and they think that’s all right.

Well, but you know, but one of the things, I think one thing we can look at it. I believe that those of us that are spirit-filled, that love God, I think one of the things, when we hear all that negative things, I think it kind of inspires us to really begin to pray more for our leaders, more for our country.

[Lawson] Amen.

And believe God for a mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

You know, I talked about this Sunday, but I believe there’s such a reawakening and such an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. At the beginning of the pandemic, Barbara had a vision, and she saw, like, tidal waves coming to the continents of the earth. And then she saw an inner continent, like geysers coming up, not only in the United States, but in the nations of the world. And I believe that there’s gonna be such an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the last days, that even these liberals, and all these things that they’ve done to try to undo it, I don’t believe they can stop the move of the Spirit. And I believe a lot of things that they’ve done are gonna work in reverse, and ultimately God’s gonna get the glory. And I’m a believer, and I’m not gonna move away from that. And, you know, I do believe in being politically active, so on and so forth, but I agree with you. We cannot finish in the flesh what God started in the spirit. It’s gonna take a move of the Holy Spirit, and we need to be in tune with the Holy Spirit in our personal lives. And we need to be witnessing, we need to be telling people about Jesus.

I think one of the things, I think we really need to pray for pastors, because a lot of pastors, at one time they were spirit-filled, and they began to kind of back away, and they’re trying to just have church services, just to kind of…

You see how politically, we can correct in being, it’s terrible.

You know, my wife and I, we visited two churches here not long ago that are spirit-filled churches. And I tell you, they started, they had praise and worship for 10 to 15 minutes. Their announcements took over 15 to 20 minutes. And the guy, the pastor, gets up and he preaches and everything is over with, imitation and everything, is over with in one hour. And I thought, “Why is that? I don’t understand that.” And they said, “Well, this is what people want.” I don’t believe people want it like that. I believe people want to go to church to worship, and to praise God and hear the word of God, and to get stirred, and to get a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit. Lawson, I tell you what, in our church in Mexico, I mean, we go for one hour to do nothing but praise and worship. And I got people, you know, I got ’em up dancing there in front. I got ’em walking or running around inside the building. I’m telling you, we get carried away. I mean, it is great services. And then we make our announcement, take up the offering, and then we preach the Word of God and we encourage people through the Word of God to live a life of victory, that we’re overcomers, we’re more than conquerors. On our platform, in our church, big letters across the back of our platform, it says, “We’re more than conquerors.”

Amen.

Yeah.

And so we are more than conquerors. Jesus has already done this work. He’s already finished it, he’s already conquered the enemy. He’s already rose from the dead. He’s already sent the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit lives in us and leads us into the victory. If we go back to that scripture that we started with this week in Romans 8:14-17, the Holy Spirit is really leading us into our divine rights and privileges. And He’s leading us into the victory that Christ has already won. Jesus has already won this battle. And, listen, the church is going out in power. If I’m reading the scriptures right, the church came in in power, right? In the power of the Holy Spirit. There were the gifts of the Holy Spirit, the Word of wisdom, the Word of knowledge, the discerning of spirits, the gift, you know, of faith, the working of miracles, the gifts of healings, tongues, interpretations, prophecies, all of these things, all of the minister gifts, apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. And I believe the church is going out.

Well, here’s the deal. I believe Jesus is coming back one day to get the church, the kind of church that he started.

Amen. He’s coming back for a glorious church. According to Ephesians 5, “A church without spot or wrinkle.” He’s coming back for a church, to me, that’s moving in the Spirit, that’s moving

That’s full of

in the power of God.

the Holy Spirit.

Yes, I believe that.

And wants the power and the anointing of it. And this is what, really, people want.

Amen.

You know, it may be something that, you know. I mean, you know, I pray for pastors and all that, you know, that we will learn to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit. I really believe that people want a fresh revival, but I believe it’s going to, a lot of it is gonna depend upon pastors rising up and getting back full to overflowing of the Holy Spirit, and let’s see a Holy Ghost revival sweep across this nation. It’ll not only change our cities, I believe it’ll change government.

This is the deal. If we don’t get people saved, if people don’t get born again, at the end of the day, we’re gonna lose this war.

Well, if we as pastors, if we don’t get stirred up, the people don’t get stirred up.

Right.

If we’re not hungry for God, they’re not hungry for God.

Right.

Our church members, they follow the leading of the pastor.

Amen.

And so, I think it’s the responsibility of us as pastors, that we’ve gotta lead them in fresh anointing and get ’em stirred up, having hunger, a great hunger for a move and the power of God, and see revival sweep across the nation.

You know, Jesus said, “Blessed are they who hunger and thirst. For righteousness, for they shall be filled.” And I think there’s a great outcry. I notice this in society. I notice this not just in the church, but I notice with people outside of the church, that since this pandemic, there is a hunger. And they are, a lot of people are wondering what’s going on, and they’re more open to talking about these things.

We’re seeing more new people come to church, some of the older people, you know. You know, people have a tendency, if they miss church for a month, two months or three months, you know, it’s kind of hard for ’em to get back involved in church. Well, you know, like with us, we were shut down for nine months. Well, it takes a lot of stirring and a move of the Holy Ghost to get ’em stirred back, to get back up. And so, we’ve got, you know, some of our older people still kind of staying home, but we are seeing a lot more young people, and young married couples, that are starting now to come to church because they wanna be in the middle of where the power of God is.

Yes. And I think there is a movement of God.

And this is one of the things, I thank God for your church, because you move in the anointing, in the power of the Holy Spirit. You worship God. You take time to worship. You encourage people to lift their hands and to praise God and to pray. And, you know, I thank God for your church and the anointing that is here in your services and the anointing that’s on your life, and all of your staff, that they’re anointed of God.

You know, my son Aaron preaches many times on Wednesday nights, and a lot of times on Wednesday nights, we’ll have several people baptized in the Holy Spirit. And we’re having people saved, you know, coming to Christ, people being baptized in the Holy Spirit, people being healed on a regular basis. And thank God, you know, I sat at a table in a minister’s meeting in town, and there’s a reform church pastor, and he said, “Can you tell me where the, there’s a charismatic church or a full gospel church where they still operate in the gifts?” I said, “Yeah, mine.” And I said, “There’s a certain way we do it,” right? Because Paul said, “Let things be done decently and in order.” But yes, we operate in the gifts of Holy Spirit, and we see these things happen on a regular basis. Well, we’re out of time, but thanks for being with us. If you need prayer, want product, or want a partner, give us a call today. Bless you.
