Present to Heal Part 1 Transcript

Praise the Lord, friends. We’re here today and we are sharing on “Present to Heal.” It’s my wife, Barbara’s teaching. It’s great teaching. And tell your friends about the broadcast today. We’re gonna talk, today, about the fact that it’s just as much God’s will to heal you as it is to forgive you for your sins. And because you are forgiven, you have a covenant right to be healed. So open your heart and receive the word. We’re here today and we’re sharing on Barbara’s teaching, “Present to Heal.” Thank God, the power of the Lord in the life of Jesus, in the ministry of Jesus was present to heal them. So Barbara’s gonna go ahead and share the word of God.

I’m really excited to be here with you today and teach these powerful scriptures out of the Bible to help assist you in whatever you’re going through. The Lord really gave me some amazing things that I feel like have been a, maybe a stopping place or a roadblock for people regarding receiving their healing. The first one we’re gonna talk about, today, is understanding that the Lord is present to heal. It talked about when Jesus was here, but he’s still present to heal now because of the work that Jesus did at the cross. But I’ve noticed, praying for people and then receiving the healing that is possible. Sometimes there’s a roadblock because they feel like because of some past sins, they can’t receive healing. And so that’s what we’re talking about today. So we’re gonna start in Luke 5:17, and it’s talking about Jesus, he went to every town of Galilee. This is the end of the scripture and came to Jerusalem. And the end of this says, “And the power of the Lord was present to heal them.” So this is exciting to me. We know that Jesus wants us healed, that God ultimately is our heavenly father and wants us healed. And that’s why he sent Jesus. And so it’s good to know, well, what exactly did Jesus do when he was here, in his earthly ministry? And so if we turn together to Matthew four, and I might have you read this hun, this is Matthew four. And it’s just talking about, well, what did Jesus do? A lot of times people don’t even know what he did. So in Matthew 4:23-25, help us out. What does it say that Jesus did while he was here?

It says, “Jesus went about all of Galilee “teaching in their synagogues “and preaching the gospel of the kingdom “and healing all kinds of sickness “and all kinds of disease among the people. “And his fame went throughout all Syria, “and they brought unto him, “all sick people that were taken with “different kinds of diseases and torments, “and those who were possessed with devils, “and those who were lunatic, “and those who had the palsy and he healed them. “And there followed great multitudes of people “from Galilee, and Decapolis, and Jerusalem, “and from Judea, “and from beyond Jordan.” So, I thought about this. Jesus went about preaching, teaching, and healing. That was the ministry of Jesus. Recently I had a little girl, she’s about six years old. And she met me in the entryway one Sunday as I was out visiting with people. And she says, “I wanna go about singing, “and teaching, “and preaching.” And I said, “Well, you know what, “that’s a lot like Jesus. “He went about teaching, preaching, and healing.” And I was just thinking about it as we were reading these scriptures and you began today. A lot of people today, in nominal Christian circles criticize the message of healing and those with the healing ministry, that they would have to criticize Jesus if he was here today. And he is here, he’s in the church. And he’s working in the church. And, essentially, when they’re criticizing the body of Christ and criticizing people for a healing ministry, they’re, essentially, criticizing the ministry of Jesus. And it says right here, just like it says in Acts 10:38, how God anointed Jesus with the Holy Ghost and power. And he went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil. And Jesus Christ is the same, the scripture says, “Yesterday, today and forever.” And so he’s still healing people, and he still has a healing ministry. So if you’re criticizing people in the body of Christ with the healing ministry, you’re actually criticizing the ministry of Jesus.

That’s true. And I’m smiling because I love that personal story that you just shared, about, just even a small child that has heard the word at such a young age and totally understands and gets it, that that’s what we’re all supposed to be doing is doing what Jesus did, teaching the scriptures, not our opinions, not our life experiences, but the actual scriptures. And as we just read, the Lord is present to heal. Not only when Jesus was here, but the Lord is present to heal now. And that’s what we teach and preach in our campus here, and of course in these broadcasts too. And so I’m really excited. Again, I love what you shared as a personal note, but I love this story about someone in the Bible. We’re talking about how Jesus went teaching and what did he teach? He taught on healing. He taught on the kingdom of God. And then there’s always what we have noticed when you declare God’s word, there are always signs and miracles that follow after that. In other words, the Lord proves his word. I don’t have to prove it, he proves it. And again, we’re talking about maybe sometimes when people feel like I can’t receive my healing because of some past sins. And so there’s a great story in the Bible and I love this. This is found in Matthew 9:1-8, and I might go ahead and have you read that if you don’t mind.

Matthew 9:1-8, it says, “He entered into a ship and passed over “and came to his own city, “and behold, they brought to him “a man, sick of the palsy, lying on a bed. “And Jesus, seeing their faith said, “Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven. “And behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, “this man blasphemes. “Jesus, knowing their thoughts said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? “Is it easier to say your sins are forgiven “or arise and walk? “but that you may know that the son of man “has power on earth to forgive sins. “Then he said to the sick of the palsy, “Arise, take up your bed and go to your house. “And he arose and departed to his house. “And when the multitude saw, “they marveled and glorified God, “which had given such power to men.”

I love this story about this person who was there on his bed. I know in another place in the Bible, it talks about the four friends that carried their friend to the meeting, they couldn’t get in so they lowered him from the roof. And it’s obvious, if somebody is being brought in on a bed or a stretcher, in our terms today, is being brought in, carried in. And the first thing Jesus says to him 9:2, Matthew 9:2, he says, “Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven.” What an interesting thing to be the first comment, you’re here in a crowd, you’ve got your friends trying to get their sick, paralyzed friend to Jesus, and that’s the first thing, ’cause it’s obvious he needs healed. But Jesus doesn’t say anything about his healing. He says, “Cheer up, your sins are forgiven.” What an amazing way to greet someone like, “Just forget about it all. “Don’t let that be a stumbling block anymore in your life. “I have the power not only to heal, “but the power to forgive and heal.” And sometimes people categorize what they think Jesus can do.

Right, and in the scripture, forgiveness of sin and healing of the body are tied together. And we find it here in Matthew chapter nine, you find the same story in Mark chapter two, in Luke chapter five. But we see it in Isaiah’s prophecy of the atonement that himself bear in sicknesses and by his stripes, we are healed. And so he, it says, “He was wounded for our transgressions “and by his stripes, we are healed.” And then we see it here in Matthew chapter eight, it says that Isaiah spoke of him and it says he cast out the spirits with his word and healed those who were sick, that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by Isaiah, the prophet, himself took our infirmities and bear our sicknesses. So we see it all through the scriptures, healing and forgiveness, tied together. Psalm 103:3, he forgives all of our iniquities, he heals all of our diseases. James 5:14, “If there’s any sick among you, “let him call for the elders of the church, “let them pray the prayer of faith over him, “anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. “And the prayer of faith will save the sick. “And if they’ve committed sins, they’ll be forgiven.” So we see healing and forgiveness, forgiveness and healing. Also in 1st Peter 2:24, “His own self bear our sin on the tree “that we being dead to sin “should live under righteousness, “by who’s stripes you were healed.” So forgiveness and healing, see? Isaiah 53, Psalm 103, right here in Matthew chapter nine, Matthew chapter eight, Mark chapter two, Luke chapter five, 1st Peter 2:24, James chapter five, many places in the scripture we see that forgiveness and healing are tied together. And when you’re forgiven as a believer, it actually gives you, you have a covenant right to be healed.

That’s right, I love that. That you just brought out that we have a covenant right to be healed. And it’s not based on our works, it’s based on what Jesus has already accomplished at the cross. God loved us so much that he sent his son, Jesus, not only to die on the cross for our sins to redeem us, purchase us, buy us back, but all that came with it that we could live in this life now. A lot of times things are taught, “Well, when you get to heaven.” It’s later, and God’s far away, but God loves us so much he sent his son Jesus for us now to be healed and to live strong and healthy, have peace, have joy, and to be freed from any sickness, or disease, or any oppression of any demonic activity, and your sin cannot stop that power that Jesus has already done, the power to be healed. The Lord is present to heal.

When we’re forgiven, praise God, and Jesus paid for our forgiveness at the cross. And when we just accept that, that he did, and receive that. And the Bible actually says that we are made in the righteousness of God in Christ, Jesus. And so we receive righteousness by faith, but then righteousness becomes a foundation so that God can work in our life, and healing is one of those things that we can receive as part of redemption.

Amen. I wanna just remind everybody right now that the, really the only weapon or tool, the enemy, the devil has over anybody is he is a deceiver. That’s all he’s done since the beginning of time is try to deceive people. And he literally tries to deceive people into thinking they’re not worthy again to receive the healing or that, again, something they did 10 years ago, or 50 years ago, is a reason why they can’t receive their healing, or their forgiveness.

Praise God. But Jesus, praise God, paid for our forgiveness. And so when we receive forgiveness of sins, then we’re candidates to receive the promises that he’s given us for healing and all the rest of the promises. The scripture says, “All the promises of God in him “are yes and in him, amen, “to the glory of God by us.” So God gets glory when we walk in his promises and we’re not just thinking about it, we’re receiving these promises and we can go and share. There’re churches actually believe that healing ceased with the apostles in the book of Acts. Now we understand there’s still apostles today. And you know what, healing did not cease in the book of Acts. Healing is going on, Acts has no ending. We are really in Acts 29 and we’re continuing to see the works of Jesus. If that was true, then if there was one healing since then. In the last, just over 30 years, we’ve seen many, many people heal, medically-documented miracles. People that were given no hope, people that were given only months to live. I just had a man testify and he, just a couple of Sundays ago, met me at the front door. And he said, “Eight years ago, Pastor, “you came to the hospital and prayed for me. “And I was lying there, dying with this disease. “And they gave me only months to live.” And I said, “Well, how much percent of chance “did they give you?” He said, “No, they didn’t give me any chance to live, “just months. “But eight years ago you came and prayed for me. “And you gave me this scripture, “You will not die, “but live and declare the works of the Lord.” I thought he they’d given him 2% chance to live. He said, “No, they didn’t give me any chance, “just a few months at the most.” And he’s healed, and there’s not a bit of disease in his body. Praise God. And we see all kinds of miracles, like little Jackson clip, he was taking 11 or 13, 11 medications every day, on a good day. And they thought he would just die as a young boy. And yet at 10 years old, he woke up one morning and he said, “You know what? “God healed Pastor when he was a little boy, “I believe God will heal me.” And he just received that, praise God? We’re gonna be back in just a few seconds. So stay tuned. We’re gonna continue to share this message on the power of Jesus is present to heal. Praise the Lord, friends. We are teaching and sharing on the subject of divine healing. Thank God Jesus made provision for us at the cross. And we have just as much right to be healed in our body as we do to be forgiven for our sins. But how can we receive that in our life? We go through this in detail and I have a healing bundle that I’m sharing with you. I want to get this to you. the Bible says that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. And I know these teachings will build your faith. I have, first of all, my series on “Covenant of Healing,” and then I have my series on “The cross is the Cure,” And then we have my wife, Barbara’s series, and she’s a powerful teacher in minister’s healing in a very powerful and anointed way on “Present to Heal,” and how to receive divine healing and health in your life. And I want you to call in today and get this, it will help you build your faith and receive from God, blessings. Praise the Lord, friends, we’re back here and we’re sharing on the Power of the Lord is Present to Heal. And I know Barbara has some great things to say. She has a powerful ministry. If you have time to ever come to church, if you’re in the Colorado Springs area on a Sunday, on a Wednesday, we see lots of people heal. But also we have people that watch on our online services and get healed, it’s amazing. And you’ll have words of knowledge, sometimes people will email in, call and say, “Hey, that was me. “And I receive my healing.” Isn’t it amazing how the Holy Spirit works and ministers the power of God?

It is amazing. And we’re gonna go on, as we mentioned, we’re talking about the Lord is present to heal. We’ve been sharing some personal examples. And I just wanna go on with just some healing stories in the Bible. And this is found in Luke 4:38-41. And it says, “Now he arose from the synagogue “and entered Simon’s house, “but Simon’s wife’s mother was sick with a high fever “and they made a request of him concerning her.” I like what it says, “So he stood over her and rebuked the fever “and it left her. “And immediately she arose and served them.” And it goes on in verse 40, it talks about the sun was setting and all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought then to him. And he laid his hands on every one of them and healed them. Then it goes on and talks about, in verse 41. “And demons also came out of many crying out and saying, “You are the Christ, the son of God. “And he rebuked them, “did not allow them to speak for they knew “that he was the Christ.” So even the demons know that Jesus has the power to forgive, and to heal, and flee. And that’s the key here. When we take our authority, Jesus says, “I have authority, now I’m giving it to you.” We’re gonna be talking about that in some more of our teachings, but Jesus said, “I have authority, “I’m giving it to you.” You have a authority over this. And they will lead because they understand who Jesus Christ is. Even the demons know who Jesus is.

Amen, now notice how Jesus healed in this scripture, in Luke 4:39, “Peter’s mother-in-law was sick with the great fever,” it says verse 38, but he rebuked the fever. He spoke to the fever, he took his God-given authority and there are at least seven different ways that Jesus healed people. The first way that Jesus healed people is through the spoken word. And that’s what we see here, he took his throne through the spoken word. And the second most prevalent way is that he laid hands on people and he saw them healed. He also, we see it right here that these people came and they were sick with all kinds of diseases and they had demons and he casted out the de… Deliverance is a way that he healed people, the prayer of faith is a way that he healed people. And then the gifts of the spirit through the gift of faith, the working of miracles, and the gifts of healing. So that’s seven different ways that Jesus healed people. And Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. And you know what? Jesus is still working through the body of Christ in healing people.

Amen. I like that. Again, and sometimes people have it in their head that it has to happen a certain way. So I like that you brought it up that there’s different ways to receive your healing. And so that’s exciting to me. We’re gonna go ahead and share another story here found in Luke 5:15-17, and it tells us this, “However, the report went around “concerning him all the more “and great multitudes came together to hear, “they came to hear the word “and to be healed by him of their infirmities. “So he himself often withdrew in the wilderness and prayed. “But now it happened on a certain day as he was teaching “that there were fair-seasoned teachers of the law sitting “by who had come out of every town of Galilee, “Judea, and Jerusalem.” And I love this. And again, this is what we’re talking about and the power of the Lord was present to heal. And so praise God, it didn’t matter what they had or who they were. They came and they heard the word and then the Lord was present to heal them, amen?

The power of the Lord was present. This almost looks like there was a special anointing present on that day for healing. And that may have been the gifts of healings, flowing in different ways. But at the same point in time, Jesus healed people and we can see over, and over, and over again, they brought unto him, all who were sick of all kinds of disease and he healed them, everyone of every kind of disease. Now I don’t care how he healed them. I don’t care whether he healed them with the speaking of the word, the laying on of hands, the prayer of faith, the gift of faith of working of miracles, the gifts of heals, or by delivering them from demonic oppression, Jesus healed the sick, praise God?

Amen.

And he’s the same yesterday, today and forever. And he still heals people.

Amen, that’s right. And it goes on. I’m just going to, we won’t read it. But in Luke 6:17-19, again, it’s another instance, another place that says, “And the Lord was present to heal.” I am so glad that the Lord is present to heal all who are sick or oppressed today. I wanna just finish up today’s broadcast in teaching on, so how does that affect today? Again, you brought out something so awesome that a lot of people think, “Well, healing is done away with.” But now we’re gonna talk about disciples. What it meant when Jesus had disciples, what it means for us to be a disciple and what that means we’re supposed to be doing. And so I’m very excited, this is found in Luke 9:1-2. And it says, “Then he called his 12 disciples together.” And gave them what?

Power.

Power, power and authority over what? All demons, and to cure diseases. “And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God “and to heal the sick.” That was his disciples then, but that is what we are supposed to be doing today. And so that’s exciting to me. So, a lot of times, I was raised with a very traditional background and I loved it that both of us had parents, our families went to church. I loved that we did that, but they had this teaching that they’re, only the priest, or only the pastor can pray for people. But no, that is disciples. We are all to be students of the word of God and to run with this exciting message that Jesus loves people, that God loves you, that he has sent… I can’t say enough, that he has sent his son Jesus, and he wants us saved, he wants to forgive our sins, and he wants to heal us. And it’s gonna take all of us, going to all the world, and all the world is gonna mean to every creature. Some of us are gonna travel around the world, some of us are gonna travel across the nation, some of you are gonna go across the state, some of you’re gonna go across your backyard, and witness and minister this amazing message that Jesus wants to forgive sins and heal. And so anyone can pray for the sick. The prayer of faith will save the sick.

Yeah, the scripture talks about this in a number of places, but here we see, he sent forth the 12, in Luke chapter nine, then in Luke chapter 10, he sent forth 70. But then after his resurrection from the dead, in Mark chapter 16, he says, “Go into all the world “and preach the gospel to every creature. “And he who is he who believes and is baptized “shall be saved “and these signs shall follow those who believe.” These signs follow believers. So if you’re a believer in the Lord, Jesus Christ, these signs follow you. “In my name, they’ll cast out devils, “they’ll speak with new tongues. “They’ll have divine protection. “If they drink any deadly thing that it will not hurt them, “they’ll take up serpents. “And they shall lay hands on the sick “and they shall recover.” And as they went and preached the word, the Lord confirmed the word that they preached with signs following. And I literally believe the reason we don’t get more people healed in the body of Christ as a whole is because we’re very limited on the word that we’re preaching. So if we wanna see people healed, we need to preach the word concerning divine healing and what you preach a about, God performed. He confirms the word that we preach with signs following. So if we want to see people healed, we need to preach what the Bible says about healing. I heard this really interesting story just recently. And a man was here, he’s a pastor from the east coast and he was sharing in a conference, but he said that they had been sharing in a Bible study and there was a man there. And he was from a different church. And they were going through the book of Galatians. And this man was just like, well, they were in Galatians chapter three, “I just don’t believe all this stuff.” And so, as he was driving home, the Lord spoke to him, he was born again and said, “I want you to go read Galatians chapter three.” And when he got home, he read Galatians chapter three. And then he told the Lord, “Well, I don’t believe all this stuff.” And then he caught himself, I’m reading the Bible and I’m saying that I don’t believe this stuff. And a lot of times people there, Jesus said this in Mark chapter seven, I believe. But he said, “Through your tradition, “you make the word of God without effect.” And you know what? If you wanna see people healed, we need to share the word of God. And you know what, we’ve got a great package. We’ve got your teaching on “Present to Heal.” Actually, it’s not one teaching, it’s four teachings on “Present to Heal.” We’ve got my teachings, three teachings on “The Cross is the Cure,” and how you receive that cure, and then my teaching on “The Covenant of Healing” and you know what? We’ve got a special offer. You can get the whole healing package. We’ve got a special offer on that. And you know, the Bible says that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. And if you know somebody that needs to be healed, you need to get the word to them. So it can build their faith. Not all preaching builds people’s faith because not all preaching is accurately declaring who God said that he is. But when we come and preach the word, praise God, then that brings healing to people, praise God. So we have this privilege of sharing the gospel and we’ve broken this down. This is 10 messages in three series on divine healing. And I believe if you get this, you can share it with your friends it can help them. And they can receive the healing power of God. We just had a healing service. We had 300 people here and I was amazed how healthy and strong our church is, but you know, God is so good. And the word is working. Barbara, do you wanna pray for the people really briefly?

Yes, I’ll pray for everyone watching. And we’re so happy to be part of this, equipping you with the word of God today. So dear heavenly father, we just pray for everyone watching that this teaching would ignite something and bring, the word of God would come alive and that they would see that you want them healed, and that we speak to any pain, we speak to any disease, any tumors, anything causing bad eyesight, or bad hearing, or just pain in your joints. We take our authority right now in the name of Jesus. And we command the healing power to flow through your bodies right now. Lord, we love you and we pray-

In Jesus name.

Thank you.

Hallelujah. Thanks so much for tuning in. We’re blessed to have you.
