Living Victorious in Every Season with the Mind of Christ

Faith is more than belief—it’s a way of life. Join us this weekend and see how God’s love moves through our church family.

Pastor Lawson Perdue

If you’re looking for breakthroughs and deeper spiritual growth, I’m going to share how the key to living victorious in every season begins with having the mind of Christ. Let’s delve into some common questions about the mind of Christ and learn what Scripture says.

1. Why is the mind of Christ important for Christians?

As believers, we should have a desire to be like Jesus. If we are going to be like Jesus, we need to think like Jesus, which means we need to have the mind of Christ. It’s in Jesus we find all the hidden treasures of His wisdom and knowledge.

When we are able to operate with the mind of Christ, we become humble, obedient, and faithful. And a change of thinking always leads to a change of action. Additionally, when you decide to think like Jesus, this allows the Holy Spirit to flow through you and brings supernatural revelation (2 Corinthians 2:10). If Jesus lives in you, then you have access to the mind of Christ. This is why the mind of Christ is important for Christians.

2. What Bible verses talk about the mind of Christ, and how can I renew my mind according to Scripture?

Ephesians 4:23 clearly states, “And be renewed in the spirit of your mind.” Romans 12:2 says, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” These verses show that there is a clear difference between the carnal mind and the mind of Christ.

This difference is explained further in 1 Corinthians 2:14–16:

“But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. For ‘who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?’ But we have the mind of Christ.”

Understanding the difference between the carnal mind and the mind of Christ is essential. I need the mind of Christ to know what God has for me and what He has already given to me. If I rely only on my carnal mind, I miss out on blessings that come through the Holy Spirit’s revelation of who Christ is and what He has done.

Philippians 2:5 also tells us, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” Paul challenges us to use the mind of Christ in every aspect of our lives. Applying Philippians 2:5 in everyday life starts with recognizing that in Christ, you are operating from a position of victory.

When you change how you think, you’ll change what you receive. Jesus thought differently from the world. He didn’t carry a victim mentality, even though He left heaven and came to earth as a baby born in humble circumstances. He knew the plan was for Him to sacrifice His life to pay the debt of sin, and He joyfully fulfilled it. Through Christ’s righteousness, you and I are not victims; we are victors.

3. How do I develop the mind of Christ in daily life and stay spiritually strong in every season?

The best way to develop the mind of Christ in daily life is to be in the Word of God. Study it, meditate on it, and apply it to your life. As you receive revelation from God, you will begin to see people and situations differently.

When that happens, you can choose to respond with the mind of Christ and allow it to shape how you act toward others. The more you are in God’s Word, the more you will think and act like Him and grow closer to Him. This is how you stay spiritually strong in every season of life.
