The Spirit of Faith Part 3 Transcript

Praise the Lord friends, I’m here today, and I’m gonna have my good friends, Mark, and Trina Hankins with me. We’re gonna be talking about the spirit of faith, and how you can receive from God. So, stay tuned, you’re gonna be really, really blessed, as Mark, and Trina share with me on how we can receive from God. We want you to enjoy the word today, and be blessed. God is so good. Bless you. Friends, I’m so glad that you’re with us today. We’re sharing today on the spirit of faith, and we’re gonna begin in Romans chapter 10. Did you know the way that you got saved, was by believing and speaking the word of God?

Yeah.

And in Romans chapter 10, Paul makes this statement, Romans chapter 10:8-10, he says, the word is near you, even in your heart, and in your mouth.

[Mark] Mm hm.

That is the word of faith that we preach.

[Mark] Yeah.

That if you will confess with your mouth, to Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart, that God has raised Him from the dead.

[Mark] Yeah.

You shall be saved.

[Mark] Mm.

For with the heart man believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made under salvation. Now, sometimes people look at that scripture, and they think that’s some type of magic formula, but it’s not really a magic formula. If you begin to understand what Paul’s saying in Romans chapter 10, it’s a summation of everything he’s been teaching in Romans up to that. He’s been talking about the subject of righteousness, and the gospel is a revelation of righteousness. He talks about in Romans chapter one, the Gentile need for righteousness, they’re caught up in philosophy, idolatry lust, Romans chapter two, he talks about the Jewish need for righteousness. They’re caught up in legalism, Romans chapter three, he says, there’s none righteous, no, not one. Everybody needs righteousness.

Wow.

And God provided righteousness in Christ. Then in Romans chapter four, he talks about how we receive it by faith in God’s grace. He uses Abraham as an example of faith, and David, as an example of grace, why? Not because Abraham was such a faith giant, but, Abraham really needed faith.

Yeah.

And if Abraham could get the faith deal, right, amen, you can get it right. Praise God.

[Mark] Yeah.

And David, because David really, he uses David as an example of grace, because David needed grace. And then he says in Romans five, when you believe on Christ, you go from the reign of sin and death, unto the reign of grace, and righteousness by faith in Jesus. And then in Romans six, he says, here’s how you live, you’re dead to sin, right? Cause sin will kill you. You’re dead to sin, you’re free from sin, you have authority over sin, and sin will kill you. But in Romans chapter seven, he said, just like, you’re dead to sin, you’re dead to legalism, cause just like sin will kill you, legalism will kill you. Romans six really goes back to Romans chapter one, where he says the gentile need for righteousness. They’re caught up in philosophy, idolatry, lust, all kinds of ungodliness, sin! But then he says in Romans chapter seven, what? Talking about legalism, not only are we dead to sin, but we’re dead to the law. And that ties back to Romans chapter two. And then he says, what we do is we move in Romans chapter eight into the spirit, the things of the spirit, by faith in God. And then in Romans chapter nine, 10 and 11, he’s talking about God’s plan of righteousness. But right here in Romans chapter 10, I wanna go back to this in verse six, he says the righteousness which is of faith talks this way.

[Mark] Yeah. Faith speaks, don’t say in your heart who shall ascend into heaven, that is to bring Christ down from above, or who shall descend into the deep, that is to bring Christ again from the dead. But what does it say? So what he’s saying is when you understand, that Jesus already came from heaven, came to the earth, you know, lived a sinless, holy perfect pure life, died on the cross for your sin, and God raised him from the dead, and made him Lord. Then now the ball’s in your court.

Yeah.

See grace has been provided through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, because of what Jesus provided in his death, burial, and resurrection, salvation, healing, all the promises of God. Now faith, we must exercise faith to enter into the promises of God.

Mm.

But he says, what does the scripture say? The word is near you, even in your heart, and in your mouth, that is the word of faith, which we preach. I am a word of faith preacher.

[Mark] Yeah.

Some people criticize the word of faith.

[Mark] Yeah.

But I preach the word of faith, and the word of grace amen?

[Mark] Yeah.

Those are the two New Testament, those things in the New Testament stand out far above everything. Faith and grace. Grace is what God did for us,

Yeah.

in the gospel through Christ. And faith is our positive response toward the gospel.

Yeah.

But he says, in that, in verse eight, he says, it’s the word of faith which we preach, that if you will confess with your mouth to Lord Jesus. Now why do I confess Jesus as Lord, me confessing Jesus as Lord, doesn’t make Jesus, Lord. God made Jesus Lord when he raised him from the dead.

[Mark] Mm hm.

But the reason I confess Jesus is Lord, because I hear the gospel. I hear that Jesus died for my sins, and he was buried, and God raised him from the dead, and made him Lord on the third day. And when I hear that, and I believe it, I confess Jesus is Lord.

[Mark] Yeah.

And you can’t get me not to confess that Jesus is Lord.

[Mark] Yeah.

Because I believe at a heart level that Jesus is Lord. And so I confess what I believe about the gospel from a heart level. So when I believe the gospel, and the same way you receive salvation, right?

[Mark] Yeah.

He says with the heart men, he says, if you confess with your mouth, the Lord Jesus will believe in your heart, God raised him from the dead, you’ll be saved. For with the heart man believes under righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made under salvation. But we could say with the heart man believes under healing, and under health, and with the mouth confession is made under, under healing and health. Or with the heart man believes under, you know, provision.

[Mark] Yeah.

And with the mouth, confession is made under prosperity. Because not only is Jesus Lord, Jesus is our righteousness.

[Mark] Yeah.

He is our healer, He is our provider.

[Mark] Yeah.

All those things see. In the Old Testament, there’s this progressive revelation of who God is. I’m Jehovah Jireh, I’m your provider, I’m Jehovah Rapha, I’m your healer.

[Mark] Yes. I’m Jehovah, what, Nissi, I’m your deliverer, Your banner, your protector. I’m Jehovah, The Lord who sanctifies you, right? Leviticus 20:8,

[Mark] Yeah. I’m Jehovah-M’Kaddesh, The Lord, your sanctification. I’m Jehovah, what? What’s that one, Shalom in Judges chapter six. You know, I’m your peace, and your provision. When you look at the really heart of where he’s coming from, he’s talking about Gideon’s confession. I’m from the poorest family, I have nothing.

[Mark] Yeah.

He said, no Gideon. You go in this certainly annoyance on you, you’ll deliver Israel as one man. How do I know? Well, go make a sacrifice, and he makes his sacrifice, fire comes out of the rock, and he calls the name of the place. The Lord is my peace, Jehovah-Shalom.

[Mark] Yeah.

The Lord is my provision, you study that word Shalom, it means peace and provision. And then there are two more, I believe, he says in, Jeremiah, chapter 23, and in chapter 33, he is the Lord, our righteousness, in fact, he says in Jeremiah 23, the name wherewith, He shall be called,

[Mark] Yeah.

speaking about Jesus is the Lord, our righteous, Jeremiah 23:6, but then Jeremiah 33:16, He says the, the name where, which She shall be called. Speaking of the church, is the Lord our righteous. So the church took the righteousness of Jesus. Then he finally says in Ezekiel 48:35, the very last verse of Ezekiel, He is Jehovah Shammah, He’s the Lord who is there. So there’s this progressive revelation of God. So, when we go down to Romans 10:17, he says, now then faith comes by hearing,

[Mark] Yeah. and hearing by the Word of God, or faith comes by declaration, and declaration by the mouth of God.

[Mark] Mm.

So when you hear the Word of God declared, and somebody’s accurately declaring who God is, that causes faith in your heart, and you’re gonna, when you believe that at a heart level, you, for instance, you cannot get me not to confess that Jesus is Lord.

[Mark] Yeah. Because I believe at a heart level that Jesus is Lord. And I believe that because I’ve heard the gospel.

[Mark] Yeah.

And believe the gospel. In fact, I got these bus benches all over the city, that say, Jesus is Lord.

[Mark] Yeah.

And in the year, 2016, the city said you can’t use the name of Jesus anymore in you’re advertising.

[Mark] Oh, wow.

It’s interesting because they came and told me that on Tuesday, just the day before on Monday, we had had a discussion in our meeting, about changing, you know, after the election in 2016, the verbiage of that, to you know, grace or something like this.

[Mark] Yeah.

But when they came, and told me that I couldn’t use the name of Jesus in my advertising, I said, I’ve been doing it for three years, and I’ll continue to do it. That we have the freedom of speech.

[Mark] Yeah.

We have the freedom of religion. Boy, they went to battle with me for about a week. Then they bowed down real quickly, cause I told them, I’d take him to Supreme Court.

[Mark] Yeah.

And we won that battle, praise God, and we still have Jesus is Lord, all over this city.

[Mark] Wow.

Jesus is Lord. But you can’t get me not to confess Jesus is Lord.

[Mark] Wow.

Cause I believe at a heart level Jesus is, I believe at a heart level Jesus is my healer.

[Mark] Yeah.

So I say, I am the healed to the Lord.

Amen.

I believe that I’m blessed at a heart level.

[Mark] Amen.

I believe the Lord’s my provider, so I’ll say I’m blessed. As I focus on the Word, if I’ve heard the Word, I believe the Word, and I meditate. And I begin to say, and I’m agreeing with what God says about me.

[Mark] Yeah.

That’s what faith really is.

That’s what faith, faith comes by hearing, what you said,

And hearing by the word.

By the word of God. And then you understand all these things,

[Mark] Yeah.

that are available to us because of what Jesus is, what God’s name is, wow. But if you don’t know it,

[Lawson] Right.

Here again in Romans 10,

[Lawson] Yeah.

It says, how shall they hear?

[Mark] Hm.

Unless somebody speaks, and so,

[Lawson] Somebody comes and tells them.

And so, this is really important.

So somebody came and told you, you were a little boy growing up in your dad’s house, And Kenneth Hagin came and preached at your church. Praise God.

[Mark] Yeah.

Amen?

Yeah.

Tell us that story.

Well, Dan Hagen came to my dad’s church in South Texas, or West Columbia, Texas. I understand, he came first when I was eight years old. So, but he came again, and he wouldn’t come for less than two weeks. And he would teach every morning, and teach every night, and he wouldn’t come for less than two weeks, most time, three weeks.

[Lawson] Wow.

He said most of the miracles started happening the second week. In other words, people have been hearing, and hearing, and hearing.

[Lawson] Right.

And your hearing can come to a saturation point that all your hearing is the word of God, day after day. So now your faith comes from that. And so he would stay there for two or three weeks. Well when I was 17, so I’m gonna jump on that forward, Cause this message that Hagen taught on faith, changed my parent’s life. Of course they were saved, and feel the Holy Spirit called to preach, and believed the gospel, and pastors. But when they heard the teaching on the authority of the believer, it really changed, they told me, of course later, my mama’s life, because my mother had been sick, and had had a nervous breakdown, and she stayed in the back bedroom for two years.

Mm hm.

So I’m not talking about two weeks, you know, of depression, I’m talking about two years of depression, and darkness, and fear. We found out later, you know, what had happened in her life that kind of had triggered that, but she didn’t know how to overcome it, is the point. So when Dan Hagen came and taught on faith, Mark 11:23, whosoever should say, you have whatever he say. In other words, it’s not enough to the word of faith must be in your heart and in your mouth. Well, she had the Word in her heart. She knew the Word since she was a kid. But when the challenge came, she was not speaking the Word. She was speaking her feelings and circumstances, and lived in fear. Well, my dad got Mark 11:23 from Dan Hagen. Took the authority of the believer back to the back bedroom, and told my mama to start speaking the Word. So he gave her a couple of scriptures. One was, let’s say Psalms 27.

[Lawson] Right.

And we’re gonna say it every day. The Lord is my light, and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? And then all the way down Psalm 27.

[Lawson] Amen.

In other words, no matter how you feel, or what things look like, my mama would say, the Lord is my light, and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? So my dad and my mom went through the Word, speaking the Word that Christianity is actually called among theologians, is called, the great confession.

[Lawson] Amen.

And that great confession is that Jesus is Lord.

[Lawson] Amen.

And we think so much about the confession of sin and failure, and mistake, but really the greatest confession in the New Testament,

[Trina] Yeah.

is the confession of your faith. So even though my mama had faith, she was not declaring, or speaking her faith.

[Lawson] Right.

So my dad just went in and helped her to release her faith, or speak her faith. And so they’d go in there, and my dad go Psalm 27, and then they’d go to 2Timothy 1:7,

Right.

That God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, and love, and a sound mind. My daddy would say, say it again. My mama’s name’s Velma. Say it again, Velma.

Hallelujah.

And she’d say, God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. And so she kept saying that and she’d go Psalm 27, and she’d go right through Psalms 91. I will say of the Lord.

[Lawson] Amen.

He is my refuge, and my fortress, my God in Him will I trust. And so they had a number of scriptures that they would go through. And that word,

[Lawson] Amen.

the confession of that word, precedes the experience of salvation.

[Lawson] Amen.

Salvation, is delivering safety, healing, preservation soundness, blessing, everything that God provided for us in Christ, but he said it is the confession that precedes the experience of salvation. So a lot of times people want the salvation, and then they’ll make the confession. He said, no, you confess and agree with God, and speak his word. And that confession will bring into your personal experience. Or you could say it this way, It is face confession that makes the reality in your life. So she would speak the Word, and then in Hebrews 4:14, Paul says, don’t just say it once, hold fast to your confession of faith, even without wavering, hold on tight. In other words, there’s no such thing as unchallenged faith. So when Dan Hagen came to my dad’s church, and taught on the subject of faith, and how faith works, where faith comes from, how to release your faith in words, and actions. And then I was only 17, and I’d been going through some challenges. So Dan Hagen said, if you’re not happy with what you have in life, check out what you’ve been saying.

Amen, I would go with that.

Well, I was 17. I was only 17, and I wasn’t happy. I always tell people, you don’t have to wait till you’re 40 to be unhappy. I always say you don’t have to wait till you get married to be unhappy. Just kidding, that’s a joke. But anyway, so in other words, I was unhappy, at 17, and I found out the source of my unhappiness, was my words.

Right.

In other words, what was I saying about myself, My future, my life? And then a lot of times people go silent. So if you’re silent, you will lose by default.

[Lawson] Right.

[Trina] Mm hm.

In other words, faith in God must be spoken. It is a spoken thing.

[Lawson] Mm hm.

In other words, the word of God, one time the Lord said it to me this way, so you see the word of God promised to God. He said, the word of God did not come outta God’s pen, it came outta God’s mouth.

[Lawson] Mm hm.

In other words, he said that it was spoken before it was written, and it was written, so it could be spoken. In other words, when you take the word of God, and put it in your mouth, now give it a voice. I call that mouth to mouth resuscitation from God.

[Trina] I agree.

[Lawson] Amen. We’re gonna be back in just a few seconds. So, stay right with us. We’re gonna be talking about how we receive, from God. Friends, this week we’ve been sharing on faith in God, will change your world. And I am so happy, to be sharing with you, this faith package. I have this book from my good friends, Mark Hankins, Mark and Trina Hankins, on “The Spirit of Faith”. We have “World Changing Faith”, one of my best series. We have “Four Keys to Faith”, and then finally we have “Have Faith and Doubt Not”. These are some of my very, very best teachings on the realm of faith. And if you begin to understand faith, I believe it will literally change your life. It’s changed mine, praise God. It’s changed my financial position, it’s changed my spiritual condition, it’s changed my physical condition, and it’s all good! God wants to do good things in your life. And he does it through grace, and faith. So if you want to get this teaching, just give us a call today, or check us out online. Thanks so much and blessings. Praise the Lord friends, we’ve been sharing on mouth to mouth recitation, talking about from God’s mouth.

Yeah.

To our mouth.

So you, God said, I putting my word in your mouth.

Amen.

And so I like what Reinhard Bonnke said, I heard him, because he really had a great impact on a whole continent. So the Lord said to me, one hundred percent, anytime I want to change a person’s life, I will always touch their mouth.

[Trina] Mm.

Isaiah, Jeremiah, God said,

[Lawson] Yeah.

I’m gonna put my word in your mouth.

[Trina] Amen.

And so, Bonnke said something years ago, Reinhard Bonnke, great evangelist. He said, his whole life changed when the Lord said to him, my word in your mouth is just as powerful as my word in my mouth.

[Lawson] Amen.

In other words, when you take the word of God, that it is a spoken thing, faith works by saying, or by speaking. So that’s why Romans 10, He says, the word is near you, it’s in your mouth, it’s in your heart. And so he really one translation says, look for your answer a little nearer by. In other words, you don’t have to stand up in the heaven, to bring Jesus down. He already came down.

Right.

He already raised from the dead. He already is the Lord. So your answer is in your mouth, he says.

[Lawson] Yeah.

He said, your answer is close to you. It’s as close as your mouth, and your heart, I believe, and I speak. And so the spoken word of God, and so, when my mama started speaking the Word, and then I was 17, and I thought, wow, well I need to change my words to agree with God’s Word.

[Lawson] Amen.

In other words, find out who you are in Christ, who you are because of the blood of Jesus, and what that blood has done for you, what it does in heaven, what it does in your heart, and now confess or say the same thing, or agree with God. You say, well, you know, I might be lying, cause I don’t look, I’m not acting, no, you can’t lie, if you’re agreeing with God, cause he can’t lie. So, you take the Word, and put it in your mouth, and it’s confession, or the speaking part of faith, is essential for your faith to work. In other words, the Lord said to me, one time like this, he said, the authority of the believer,

[Lawson] Mm hm.

Is not just available, it is necessary.

Amen.

In other words, the authority of the believer is not some accessory to Christianity,

Right.

the authority of the believer is necessary as a Christian for you to exercise your authority, and that mountain shall be removed.

Amen.

In other words, that means devils, and demons, and evil spirits, and sickness, and disease, and fear and poverty, and lack. Everything has to move at the sound of the voice of the believer. I believe, and I speak, my faith is in God. And now the power of God, the ability of God comes on that scene. I’m the believer, and he is the performer.

Hey man that, you know, there’s great rest in knowing that he’s the one. He will hasten his word to perform it. We can’t perform it.

Yeah.

I know so many Christians that have got in trouble,

Trying to make things up.

Yeah, they hear the gospel, they hear what we preach,

Mm.

You know, the word of faith. So, and they hear these promises, but then they go out in their own strength, and their power, in fact, I asked this question Sunday, when I was preaching, I said now, how many of you ever heard something preaching, and you went out in your power, and tried to make it happen. And I raised both of my hands. I said raise your hands, because I’ve done that more than once. But you can tell, you know, when it’s you, and when it’s God. Now, some people aren’t smart enough to know the difference, but you gotta be smart enough to know there’s sometimes you’re trying to do something in your own strength, and your own power, your own ability, and it’s not God, there’s no anointing on it.

[Mark] Yeah.

And, you have to know the difference,

[Mark] Yeah.

And, you have to be honest enough with yourself.

[Mark] Sure.

To say, hey, I missed God.

[Mark] Yeah.

I think one thing helped me. I was in the cattle business for a few years. And you know what, when you sell cattle, you can tell whether you heard God, whether you didn’t, and there’s some preachers, they don’t have any touch with reality, and they think they always hear God about half the time and they do, maybe, you see, we don’t hear God a hundred percent. Now my sheep, hear my voice, another, they will not follow, but we’re spirit, soul and body.

Yeah.

And we have to differentiate between the voice,

Yeah.

of our spirit.

Yeah.

And our soul and our body,

Yeah.

that the world, right?

Yeah.

And then our soul kind of self-conscious, but our spirit is God conscious. So,

Yeah. We have to hear the voice of God, and,

Well He went into rest, like you said, you’re not struggling to make things happen. So, years ago, the Lord gave Trina this prophecy, that’s in the book, “The Spirit of Faith. This prophecy, and so the Lord said to her, and she can correct me or whatever that,

Well we were going through a very difficult situation. And we’re talking about “The Spirit of Faith” is not just for pansies, it’s just not,

No.

You know, a life of ease, and, but it’s for those who wanna overcome. And Mark and I were pastoring, we had a difficult situation. And so I got some of my friends together, and we began to pray.

[Lawson] Yeah.

And always when you enter into the throne of grace, and you come to God and say, okay, like David did in Psalm 18.

[Mark] Yep.

It began to magnify God. And then he said, God, I got a problem. And he laid out his problem, and God came down and strengthened him, and he overcame. Well, that’s what we did that day, we said, God, we got a problem. We need some help here. And we began to pray. Not only with the Word, but by the help of the Holy Spirit, praying in the supernatural tongues. And as we prayed in the spirit, then we came to a place of rest,

[Lawson] Right.

where we knew that we had poured out our hearts, God had heard our prayer, the Holy Spirit had helped us. And then, God always sends his word.

[Mark] Hm.

And, he spoke that to my heart. And I didn’t know. Okay, I’m just gonna say what I hear on the inside.

[Lawson] Right.

So I spoke it out one phrase at a time, and one of my friends wrote it down. It’s good to write down what God says.

[Mark] Yeah, true.

Because you can go back to it, and those are fighting words.

[Lawson] My God, I’ve been there.

[Mark] Okay, okay, what did you tell him?

So I said, God is on your side. The blood has been applied. Every need shall be supplied, and nothing will be denied. So I enter into rest. I know I am blessed. I have passed the test, and I will get God’s best.

Amen.

Those are my fighting words, you win.

Now you, you have those on a mug, so,

Oh yeah, we have it on coffee.

That’s one of my favorite mugs.

Yeah. God praise God.

And I speak that. I take that mug and, if I drink coffee, I drink caffeine free coffee. I don’t drink caffeine. Cause I got fired up all the time. It doesn’t affect me very,

You don’t need anymore.

No I don’t need anymore.

And its about, it’s in the book, “The Spirit of Faith”. And so, God is on my side.

God is on my side.

For the blood has been applied.

Amen.

Every need shall be supplied, and none should be denied. So I enter into rest.

Thank God.

So what that means, is I have now, I rest my case,

[Trina] My case.

[Lawson] Amen.

On the blood of Jesus.

[Lawson] Amen.

What he has done for us. And now God’s on my side. I see the blood, I’m redeemed by the blood.

[Trina] Amen.

I overcome by the blood. And so I rest my case devil, you can’t win. This case is already closed.

My plea is the blood.

I learned of a word, you know, amen. I thought, I like that word, amen, that’s, so be it. You believe what God says, you’re saying it, amen. And so I looked it up in the sign language. I thought, what is the sign for amen? And it’s this, it’s your desk like a judge’s desk. This is your gavel, and you do amen. You judge God faithful, whatever God has said, amen! And when you say amen, it is done.

And then I rest,

Enter into rest.

I know I am blessed. And so that means I am blood blessed.

Blood blessed.

Because of the blood, Christ redeemed me from the curse. So we are blessed. You are blessed because of the blood, But notice the confession, and the speaking part of that faith coming outta your mouth, God is on my side. If God’s for me,

[Mark and Trina] Who could be against me?

Jesus said, I will never leave you, and never forsake you. So you can boldly say the Lord is my helper. I will not fear what man shall do unto me. In other words, those are blood covenant words that you’re saying, Jesus never leaves me. And I say, the Lord is my helper.

Amen.

I rest my case. I know I’m blessed. I passed the test. Somebody said, well, what test did you pass? The blood test, the blood test, I know I’m blessed, and I enter into rest. Hallelujah, and everything

Get God’s best.

Get God’s best.

Praise the Lord Jesus. And we just thank God, Mark and Trina, I wanna say, great, thank you for coming. And for being with me this week on television, it’s a tremendous blessing to have you.
