More Than Enough Part 4 Transcription

Friends, God is more than enough and He wants you to have more than enough. Just enough is not the way of Jesus, is not the way of God, is not the way of the scripture, praise God. So I believe when you begin to understand the truths of the scripture, you can begin to experience more than enough and the God of more than enough in your life. Friends, we’re so glad that you’re with us today. We’re sharing on “More Than Enough”, and we’re been talking about how quality is not a problem in God’s provision, but neither is quantity. And so you’re gonna break into that a little bit in this teaching. And so we’re gonna begin here in John Chapter 6 today talking about the feeding of the 5,000.

I love it. Jesus, because He is Lord, He is the Lord who provides for us. Jesus proved Himself over and over again as a great provider. And I love studying miracles of provision throughout the Bible. Old Testament, New Testament, in the gospels, and the life of Jesus. And, man, Jesus is such a provider. His very first miracle was a miracle of provision at the wedding in Cana of Galilee. He provided. They ran out of wine, He turned water into wine there and it was top-notch quality. Even the master of the feast said, “Usually people put out the inferior, it gets worse as the party goes on,” but Jesus was at this party. It gets better and better. And that’s a word for you today, with Jesus in your life, with Him in your family, with Him in your marriage, with Him in your business, things get better and better and better. And I believe that if you’re a believer, if Jesus is in your heart, your best days are still ahead of you.

And you know what? You don’t have to be controlled by the world around you. So many people are just focused on the world and all the problems, and, you know, we see a lot of lack.

So in the world things are gonna get worse and worse, that’s how the world is.

I mean right now I just went to the grocery store yesterday and the cheapest dozen of eggs was $5.49. And listen, most of my life we’ve bought eggs for a dollar a dozen or less. And so it’s just a different time. And the Bible talked about times like this would come. And you know what, it’s not a problem to buy those eggs.

Alright, my wife is a more than enough kind of woman, and she wants organic eggs, and I don’t even look at the price, ’cause I know it’ll offend any poverty mentality that’s still in me. So I just find a two dozen. I try to buy a bigger quantity and get a quantity discount. But I buy her cage-free, organic eggs, because she likes those.

I get those sometimes as reasonable or less than others.

Yeah, she wants the top-notch quality. She doesn’t want the inferior quality eggs. So some things it’s okay to be a little cheaper on, but some things it’s okay just to go all out, be extravagant. So with eggs, if your wife wants the fancy eggs and you get the fancy eggs

You can have fancy eggs.

So let’s look at John 6. I’m gonna look at the feeding of the 5,000, it’s talking about Jesus being a provider, a more than enough provider, more than enough kind of God. So John 6, let’s start here in verse 1. “After these things, Jesus went over the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias. Then a great multitude followed Him, because they saw His signs which He performed on those who were diseased. And Jesus went up on the mountain, and there He sat with His disciples.” So I love here that right before on this miracle provision occurs, like people were drawn to Him because He was a healer. Jesus is also, He is Jehovah Jireh, the Lord who provides, but He is also very much Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals us. And in the gospels I love everything the gospels, because Jesus is always healing someone, going to heal someone, or coming from healing someone. And that’s why people followed Him. People are like, there needs to be healing in the church today.

Amen.

Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. And He is still a healer.

Let me tell you, if you’ll believe God for healing, and you’ll believe consistently, and consistently speak what the word of God says, you will live a lot healthier than you will if you don’t believe that. And I know something Aaron, that you’ve written in your teaching that I love, and that is your life is better 100% of the time, when you believe God than it is if you don’t.

That’s true, that is so true. So John 6:4, “Now the Passover a feast of the Jews was near. Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip…” And I believe this is kind of interesting, this is something that God has shown me. I haven’t heard anyone else talk about this really. But I believe that Jesus singled out Philip for a reason. I think He singled out Philip and wanted to test Philip in particular because I think Philip actually didn’t understand that God was a more than enough kind of God, didn’t understand that Jesus was more than enough. So He singled out Philip, because Philip I believe had an insufficient mentality, a lack mentality. “He said to Philip, ‘Where shall we buy bread that these may eat?'” And verse six said, “But this He said to him, for He Himself knew what He would do.” I love that John, John had this great revelation when he was writing this gospel. Like John had a tremendous revelation of God’s grace, of His love that Jesus loved him. He said, I am the one that Jesus loves. That was his identity. And when you really understand that God loves you, man, Him supplying for you is no issue at all. And verse seven it said, “Philip answered Him, and said, ‘200 denarii worth of bread is not sufficient.'” It’s not sufficient.

So he has his eyes on insufficiency. So 200, I mean-

200 denarii is a lot.

It’s like $40,000.

A denarii. Yeah, one denarii–

Was a day’s wages. So today, I mean, where we’re at, $200 might be a day’s wages.

So this could be $40,000. He’s saying $40,000 isn’t enough for them that we might feed them all. And also this… It says this is right before a big feast too. So probably a lot of the stores, even if there were stores around, would be shopped out. Before, it’s hard to go shopping for 5,000 people on Thanksgiving. Or on Christmas it’s hard to find that much food to find businesses that are open to find that much supply. And I think Philip is saying, hey… And I think they probably had 200 denarii there in the treasurer’s bag too. I don’t think he’s just making that number up. I think he’s saying, “Hey, we counted this morning, we got $40,000 in the bag.” It takes money to travel, to run a ministry, to feed 12 men and to provide for them. And those were the 12 main disciples. There were probably other people that followed Jesus that were provided, that worked and were provided for as well. But he’s saying, “Hey, $40,000 is not sufficient, not sufficient.” Philip would like to say something about what is sufficient and what is not sufficient. And we kind of mentioned this a few days ago, but in John 14, this just kind of shocks me. I’m gonna talk to Philip someday in heaven and just ask him, what were you thinking? ‘Cause this is at the last supper.

He wasn’t thinking.

And Jesus is just pouring His heart out to His disciples, His last message to him before He went to the cross. And in John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” And man, that is such a powerful verse of scripture. And really God’s word, the words of Jesus need to be sufficient. Now, I read a statistic that 50% of evangelical Christians don’t really believe John 14:6. They think that other people can go to heaven apart from Jesus. That 50% of so-called evangelical Christians who say they believe in the words Jesus, don’t believe John 14:6.

Wow, it’s terrible.

That you can go to heaven apart from Jesus–

There’s only one way to get to heaven. Jesus is the only one who was God, who became a man, who lived on this earth, sinless, holy, perfect, and pure, who died on the cross for our sins, who God raised from the dead, who ascended into heaven, who sent the Holy Spirit, who will be Lord for eternity. Jesus is the only one.

He is the only one who is sufficient.

There may be different ways that you get to Jesus, but Jesus is the only way of salvation, period. You know what God said about other religions? Deuteronomy 4:29, I believe says this. He said, “If you go to a foreign nation where they worship other gods,” He said, “If you seek Me with all your heart, you will find Me and not another.” And you know, Jesus was right there. God was right there. If you study world religions, you will find that God was right there when world religions were born, God was right there in the midst of it. There were… God had a voice.

And people who seek the one true God, they will find Him. And we even talked about Abraham and how he kind of messed up and had Ishmael because he had a lack mentality. And his lack mentality caused him to have Ishmael.

And this is a lack mentality that Phillip’s dealing with.

Philips’s dealing with a lack mentality–

And it’s causing him not to see Christ in the right way. And when people have the wrong mentality, we talked about this earlier in the week, you must have a new covenant mentality to be able to receive the blessing of the new covenant. You can’t take the wine of this new covenant and put it in these old wine skins of religion. It’ll break out.

It will-

It’ll burst.

Man. So Jesus said, “I’m the way, the truth, and life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also.” So He’s kind of speaking to Thomas, ’cause Thomas is kind of doubting the words of Jesus as well. And He said, “Hey, if you had really known Me,” again, it comes down to relationship. “Thomas, you’ve been following Me, but do you really know me? Do you really understand of who I, do you have a revelation of who I am? If you had known Me, you had known my Father also. So you’re really lacking revelation, Thomas. You don’t know Me, you don’t know the Father.”

And so we need to get a revelation in the area of finances that God is our provider. That Jesus is the Lord our provider.

So, Philip said to Him, “‘Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.'” That is a very dangerous statement he made. They said, “Jesus you’re not enough.”

And Jesus said, “Have you been so long with Me and you don’t know who I am?” That’s the problem. There’s a lot of people been following God for a long time, but they really don’t know who Jesus is.

But in John 6 at the feeding of the 5,000 when Phillip said, you know $40,000 is 200 denarii, that isn’t sufficient, he really had a lack mentality concerning provision. And that’s actually later reflected in his relationship with Jesus. Because he didn’t trust Jesus as a provider. He didn’t really trust Jesus as a Savior, as the way to the Father.

You know unbelief is contagious.

It affects well and money is the least of all things. It’s really the least of, and if you can’t trust God with mammon, with unrighteous mammon, that there’s true riches beyond that. And Philip here in John 6 really wasn’t trusting Jesus in terms of financial provision, in terms of mammon. And we see it later reflected with this truer riches like he hadn’t attained it yet. He didn’t really understand who Jesus was, who the Father was. So Philip in John 6, Jesus asked him, what are we gonna do? And Phillip says, John 6:7, “200 denarii is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may have a little.” I kinda like what verse eight says. So Philip really just failed that test miserably. He’s got a 0% on, you know Jesus is a provider test. He failed miserably. Verse eight, “One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him, ‘There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish.'” So he kind of started off with the right answer and he is looking at what was in their hand.

Right, this is what we have a little boy’s lunch.

And that’s what you have to do when you trust God in terms of provision. What do I have? Jacob fleeing for his life. What do I have? I have this rock. I’m gonna anoint this rock. This rock is the house of God and God’s gonna take care of me and I’m gonna give a 10th of all. All I have is this rock, and I’m just gonna give this rock to God right now. That was my pillow.

There’s some great people that have started out that way.

Amen. So Andrew says, hey, this is what we have. But he says the word, but. So he started off getting an A on this test, but then kind of slipped down to a C. He said, “But what are these among so many?” So he kind of doubted a little bit. He at least looked at what they had. “We have five barley loaves and two small fish. Then Jesus said, ‘Make the people sit down.’ Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about 5,000. And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks.” I like that He gave thanks. He didn’t curse it. Now, don’t curse what’s in your hand.

No, thank God for what you have. So many people aren’t looking at what they have. Again, they’re looking at insufficiency instead of sufficiency. And we need to look at what we have.

And our God is a God of more than enough. He is also a God of multiplication. He wants to bless people with multiplication. That’s what He said to Abram when he was 99 said, “I’m El Shaddai. I’m gonna bless you and multiply you.” He spoke a blessing of multiplication over Abram. And so you are now Abraham. You are the father of a multitude. You are the multiplied father.

[Lawson] Yes.

And that’s what Jesus does. He blessed this because there’s a blessing of multiplication in the person of Jesus. “He blessed it, gave thanks for it, distributed them to His disciples and the disciples to those sitting down.” So the miracle took place in whose hand?

In their hands.

They had, yeah. And that’s part of the blessing as well. Even in Deuteronomy 28, the blessings, the blessings and the curses. There’s a blessing that says, “Whatever your hand touches, I will bless.” But your hand has to touch something.

Yeah, you gotta do something.

When people come to me and they say, “I don’t have anything, I’m poor me. Give me something.” Well, what are you doing? Can you do something? Just go, set your hand to something. Especially if it’s a young man. Like there are opportunities to work today.

There are opportunities to do a lot., but you’ve gotta start with what you have. You’ve gotta, like even with finances, you start with what’s in your hand. You take a 10th of it, you sow it, right, as a seed, you believe God and.

Set your hands to something.

What are, you know?

Yeah. I was at the point where basically all I had to sleep on was a rock. I didn’t even have a bed. I slept on an air mattress when I was, you know, just finished my master’s degree. And God showed me to go on Craigslist and get free stuff and pick it up and sell it for more. And that’s what I did. I didn’t have a job. I was unemployed, but I set my hand to something and God started multiplying it.

And He’s multiplied you over and over again that by the time you got your doctorate, you had over $200,000 net worth. And now God’s multiplied you over and over again. Man, God just keeps, you know, God’s in the multiplication business. And He is no respecter of persons. And if you’ll take these simple principles of the scripture and apply them, you know, I believe the Bible has the answers for life today. And if you’ll believe the word of God, it’ll change your life. You know, we’ve been sharing this and we’re gonna have to take a short break, but we’ll be back right after this break and we’re gonna share some more just basic principles from the word of God. That if you’ll employ them, they’ll work. They’ll bring an increase to you just like they have for us. So stay tuned, blessings. Friends, we are sharing this week on More Than Enough, and we have a special offer. And I believe that these teachings will bless you and help you come to a new level of financial increase in your life. I have first of all my book, “Provision, Releasing Supernatural Increase In Your Life.” Andrew Wommack wrote me a forward, Dr. Doug Weiss, also Jesse Duplantis, who has a great anointing of increase, wrote a word about this book. So I would like you to get this book. I believe it’s very practical and I believe this practical information will help you come to a new level of financial increase in your life. Also we’ve included my teaching Four Pillars Of Financial Success. And if you get this working in your life, I guarantee it will bring increase to you. I’m offering both of these to any person who becomes a new partner with Charis Christian Center this week. Blessing. Friends, we’re glad that you’re still here with us. We’ve been teaching on the miracle of the loaves with Jesus. It was miracle of supernatural increase. Jesus took a little boy’s lunch, He blessed it, He broke it, He gave it to the disciples, He multiplied it. And then they fed 5,000 men more than likely, plus women and children. And then they took up 12 baskets full. Go ahead.

And I love, yeah, what happens here.

We on John chapter 6.

In verse 12 says “So they were filled.” I love that they were filled. You know, Philip, when he was piping up earlier with his lack mentality, he said $40,000 isn’t enough for them to have a little, for them to just have a cracker and just get a little and just curb their hunger slightly. But it said, when Jesus took over here, it said that they were all filled.

Hallelujah.

They didn’t just get a little, they were filled. And there was more than enough. It said with the fragments of the five bread of loaves that were left over by those who had eaten, there were 12 baskets. Verse 14. “Then those men when they had seen the sign that Jesus did said, ‘This is truly the prophet who has come into the world.'”

So they saw this miracle. This was a miracle of increase. So not only in the Bible are there miracles of healing, right? But there’s miracles of increase. God can work miracles in your life today.

And I believe that God wants to grow people’s mentality too. He wants to bless someone, but He can’t bless you if your brain is just gonna break under what He wants to do in your life. You know, man, I saw, you know, our, your mentor, our friend Andrew Wommack just shared his vision recently for his campus, Charis Bible College. And it’s a huge vision. You know, he wants to build a sports complex up there and it’s gonna cost hundreds of millions of dollars. And I thought this guy has no problem dreaming big.

[Lawson] Hallelujah.

And I just got excited just to see someone who dreams big. You know, I went to a great music school. I went to Rice University, I have a doctorate from there in the School of Music. And as I was, you went there for my graduation a few years ago, they were building a brand new Opera house for like $300 million. And they got it done. And I think, you know, if Andrew Wommack wants to build a sports complex with a baseball field and a hockey rink and, you know, and more, more, you know, classrooms, and more living space for students, I think it’s fine. I think if the world can have a $300 million Opera house, Charis Bible College can have something valued at $300 million as well. But some people that would just burst their wine skin, even mentioning that number, just burst their wine skin. So I wanna talk about just some practical ways how to overcome a lack mentality. Cause I think a lot of people kind of struggle with a lack mentality. So we see a few principles here in the word of God, but number one is to be thankful.

Yes, Lord of God. You know, we need to thank God for what we have. You know, and we’ve been given so much, and America so many people think, well, I don’t have much. Listen, I’ve been to some third world countries where people are living in cardboard boxes or, you know, I, I.

Well, the problem it, you know, being thankful that, like you can be very blessed, you can be very prosperous and still have a lack mentality. And an entitled mentality is a lack mentality. Feeling that you’re owed more than what you currently have. An entitlement mentality, which is something that’s really plaguing America today, and especially young people today. This entitle, well, even older people, you know, even, even just the other day here at church, someone was told that they couldn’t bring their coffee into church and they grabbed their whole family and stormed outta church. Because they had this very entitled attitude. And it’s not a big deal.

And I didn’t care if they had their coffee.

No, it doesn’t really matter. And just say, you know, just don’t get so easily offended so easily. You know, just this entitlement thing it’s–

Offense is terrible.

It’s demonic. It’s really, it’s real. It’s terrible. So be thankful. That’s how you overcome a lack of mentality. Thanksgiving, this is a great word for someone today. Thanksgiving is like a sword that cuts the chains of depression. The chains of lack, the chains of anxiety, the chains of discouragement and oppression. Thanksgiving is a spiritual sword that cuts those things off of you. How to overcome a lack mentality. Number one, be thankful. Number two, don’t ever speak lack. Don’t speak it over your children. You know your children. You can do anything that you put your mind to with hard work, determination and the favor of God. You can go anywhere God calls you to go. God is with you and with God all things are possible.

Amen. We never like spoke like over you boys.

Yeah. Don’t say there’s no way we can afford that or only rich people can have that. Or you know, maybe say that’s just not in the budget right now. Or maybe believe God and pay for that yourself.

Yeah. I said some those things.

Like that. Yeah. Sometimes you can empower.

Mom and I told you boys, you could buy any kind of car.

Once you believe God, go to work.

You want it, you had to buy it yourself.

And you start exercising your faith.

Your brother Peter bought a Mercedes about 20 years old with 58,000 original miles, original owner. Bought it for 2,700 and within a week he had two offers of $7,000 on it. I mean, it was just like that fast, you know, when you think right, God will bring good blessings to you and good things to you, you know. But you’ve gotta think and you know, we told you you guys can have any kind of car that you want, but you gotta buy it. Money you earn. We’re not giving it to you.

Yeah, you don’t have to do everything for every, and some of these people come to me wanting a handout too. And every now and then, you know, different situations, it, you know, actually scripturally, the church is supposed to take care of widows and orphans, but it says, you know, in scripture that really people’s families are supposed to take care that they’re the first, people have responsibility for caring for others. So.

Aaron and I help lots of people, but there’s some that come and you know what, they’re not giving. They’re not invested.

And even scripturally of widows, they’re supposed to be devoted to that church, servants of the church. They’re not just supposed supposed to. You know, anyways, that’s a good.

I had this guy come, we have to talk about this years ago. He said, “Will you lend to the Lord after Wednesday night service?” I said, “You come to my office.” He’s about 25 years old, strong and healthy. And he couldn’t keep a job ’cause he had a bad attitude. And he came to my office and I read him the scripture from Timothy about taking care of widows and it’s a family’s responsibility, first and his family kind of pawn this guy off on. And so I read it, they gotta be over 60 years old, they’ve gotta be well spoken of, they gotta be servants of the church and so on and so forth. And I said, “Now, which one of those do you fit?” He said, “+None of them.” I said, “Then I’m not gonna help you.” And you know, the Bible says Jesus gives to the poor, lens of the Lord that which he’s given he’ll repay. There’s a one to one return on giving to the poor, but on seed sow there’s a 100 to one promise. And you know what I give to the poor, that’s alms giving. I believe the Lord returns that to me. But I also sow seed and I sow seed in places that are doing great and have a lot of money because I’m looking for an investment on my return.

Yeah. So how to overcome a lack of mentality. Be thankful, don’t speak lack. Number three, do something extravagant once in a while. Once in a while just do something that’s a little bit extravagant, maybe buy the organic eggs that your wife really wants. Or maybe take her to a nice restaurant. Once in a while just do something extravagant.

Just break outta your old stinking thinking.

Yeah. And number four, be a giver, and be an extravagant giver.

Hallelujah.

You know, give God the best. Do something that’s extravagant. That even, man, I loved when I first went to my accountant here in Colorado for the first time when I moved here, she was blown away by my giving.

Hallelujah.

She said, everyone should be like this. And being an extravagant giver.

You know, mom and I have always done that. And it’s supernatural what God’s done in our life. We’ve given around 30% of our money that’s come to us in the last 40 years. And you know, our net worth about three times of all the money we’ve made, it’s unreal. But God is supernatural. He blesses us. So look to God. If you need prayer, give us a call. If you wanna become a partner, give us a call. God bless you. We love you.
