The Spirit of Faith Part 2 Transcript

Praise the Lord, friends. I am so glad that you are with us today. We’re gonna be talking today about how you can write your own ticket with God, how you can receive from God whatsoever you desire. I’m with my good friends, Mark and Trina Hankins. Praise God, we’re talking about the spirit of faith. So open your heart, receive the Word of God. And you’re not gonna be disappointed today. Blessings. Praise the Lord, friends. I’m so glad that you’re here today. We are sharing on the spirit of faith. And we began yesterday and we shared from 2 Corinthians 4. We’re gonna continue today. Starting there again in 2 Corinthians 4:13, where it says, “We then having the same spirit of faith according as it is written, I believed and therefore have I spoken, We also believe, and therefore we speak.

Yeah, so really the spirit of faith, Paul himself there, he says, that’s what we have. Number one that keeps us from being defeated and quitting is Paul said, we have a spirit of faith. If you read the chapter, he’s really saying in a time of great challenge and adversity, he said, “We are trouble on every side, but not distressed, we’re perplexed, but we are not in despair. We’re persecuted. We are not forsaken. We’ve been cast down. We’re not destroyed. One translation says, we’ve been knocked down, but we’re not knocked out.” So Paul constantly faced all of these challenges, but he said yet in the middle of all this adversity. In other words, just because you have a spirit of faith does not mean that you will not have trouble. It just means that trouble cannot defeat you. So Paul says, “All this trouble on every side.” And he says, “But in the middle of this, we have the same spirit of faith.” When he said we have the same spirit of faith. He says, according as it is written. So he’s quoting from Psalms 116. And he’s quoting from Psalms 116 where the Psalmist David said, “In all kinds of trouble that David was in. He said, I believed and therefore have I spoken.” He said, “The Lord has delivered my life from death. He’s delivered my eyes from tears. He delivered my feet from falling.” So in the middle of that adversity, David said, I believe and I speak. Paul says, “We have the same thing David had.” We have the same spirit of faith. And he says, we believe, and therefore we speak. Kenneth Hagen or Dad Hagen, we call him, he says, “The door to the supernatural swings on two hinges.” Number one is I believe, I believe God. I believe the Word of God. I believe in the power of the blood of Jesus. I believe. In other words, I am a believer. Jesus said in Mark 9:23, “If you can believe all things are possible to Him that believeth.” In other words, I am a believer, but it’s not enough. He said, “I believe and I speak.” And if you’ll notice even in Mark 9:23, the guy said, “Lord, I believe, help me get rid of unbelief.” In other words, the spirit of faith, I believe and I speak. And so you take the Word of God, what you believe as a believer, and then put that word in your mouth. I believe and I speak.

[Trina] Amen.

And that’s really totally what Jesus described in Mark 11:23. Amen.

[Lawson] Amen.

So I believe, I speak. That Hagen said that opens the door to the supernatural.

[Lawson] Amen.

So Jesus was talking about the mountain and here’s one thing the Lord told me about Mark 11:23, who shall say to this mountain be removed be cast to sea. He shall not doubt and start believe those things that he say and confess. He’ll have whatever he said. In other words, this is what we call the authority of the believer. He says, this mountain. So the Lord says something to me like this. He said, “Your faith may not prevent all mountains, but it will move all mountains.” In other words, no matter what situation in your life looks impossible, looks too big for you. He said to have faith in God. And here’s how faith in God works. That whosoever shall say. So He says, say three times, believe once. And he shall have whatsoever he said. Man, this just opens the door to the supernatural. And mountains He said, have to be removed. So a lot of times people want a change of scenery, but they must have a change of sound first.

Amen.

In other words…

Praise God.

Sound came before sight. Amen. In other words, in the beginning, Genesis 1, God said, then He saw, He said, then He saw, He said, then He saw, so sound came before sight. So a lot of times people want a change of scenery, but you must change your sound. In other words, I believe and I speak. I lift my voice and now the scenery has to change. Mountains have to be removed. Not only are they removed but they’re cast into the sea. When He said they’re cast into the sea, that means one thing that they’re not coming back.

[Trina] Amen.

And that means number two, there’ll be no evidence they were ever there.

[Lawson] Amen.

So when Trina was diagnosed with a brain tumor, then we just spoke to that tumor. Said, you must be removed. Number one, cast into the sea, which means you will never come back.

I remember that day, Mark came in the room and he had been meditating. He had been praying, he came in with the spirit of faith.

[Lawson] Amen.

And when he spoke, he spoke to the tumor. Jesus, didn’t say, pray to God about the tumor or right about the mountain. He said, speak to it. And I remember him looking cast me into that tumor.

I said, “Mr. Tumor, I like to talk to you.”

Everything has ears and you can talk to it. It will change, move, whatever. And when you did that you expected a result. I didn’t build anything. There’s one thing about the spiritual power. Sometimes we are looking for some kind of feeling. And people mistake faith in God for a feeling. They’re looking for a feeling. But no, it’s like what Mark used that illustration of the X-ray.

Again, X-ray that you don’t feel anything.

You can feel that power.

The power went into your mouth or even like nuclear…

It is very real…

Power that radiation that you don’t necessarily feel anything but tremendous power. And so when it came to you in the hospital bed, we didn’t have no choir there. We didn’t have nobody singing.

I didn’t shake.

We didn’t have no emotions. I wasn’t jumping on the bed and running around the room. I just said, “Mr. Tumor, I wanna talk to you.” Jesus said, wow, that whosoever should have said. And I’m saying to you, Mr. Tumor, you must be removed and you must be cast into the sea, which means you will never come back. And that was 35 years ago. In other words, all fear of that tumor coming back was gone, ’cause you will never come back.

And it never came back.

Never came back. And then the Lord said, “Not only will it be removed, that there’ll be no evidence it was ever there.” Which also means that people will look at you and think you never had a problem like that. You said, well, I did, but I have faith in God. And I believe and I speak and the tumor was removed. So here’s the way Dad Hagen said that really helped me a lot. He said, believe and speak opens the door to the supernatural. So I believe, and I speak, my faith is in God. Never remove God from your faith formula. In other words, my faith is in God. And so I’m the believer. I’m the speaker. God’s the performer. So I believe, and I speak, I open the door to the supernatural. So in my mind I saw it this way. I see it. I don’t have to be under any pressure. God is the performer. So I just believe, and I speak. I open the door to the supernatural. And I say, “Mr. Tumor, our mountain, I like to introduce you to God.”

[Lawson] Amen.

And you must be removed.

Because God is the one who can perform it.

Jeremiah 1:12 says He will hasten his Word to perform it.

Yes. Yes.

Trina, you woke up, you had had a seizure and passed out. You woke up in the hospital, but before you opened your eyes, God already spoke the Word to you. You had that rise up in your spirit that by Jesus stripes, that you were healed to Himself, took our infirmities and bear our sicknesses. So you already had the word from God before you got the word from the doctor.

Exactly.

And then the doctor told this, but you said when the doctor told you that it didn’t really even cause you to fear because you already had that word. And you know, we’ve seen people raised up from terrible, terrible things. We have a man in our church, he just spoke last Wednesday night. His name is Barry Bennett. And he nearly died with cancer that the doctors told him he had two days to live. And he thanked me for praying for him and ministered to him. But you know what? I find it so easy. Another man that I prayed for he had stopped breathing. He was in cardiac arrest. His heart had stopped and this just happened recently. And they called me and it was in between service. And I ran over and laid hands. Well, they said I hit him and I slapped. He was with the prayer team as the head of my prayer team. I hit him in the chest. I slapped his chest. And I commanded his heart. It was evident to me he’s white and he was sweating and he was in cardiac arrest. And I come around the corner and they were all gather around there praying. I just slapped him in his chest. And I just said, “Heart, I commend you to work in the name of Jesus. And I commend your blood to flow in Jesus name.” And you know, his head had, he had went down, his eyes had rolled up in his head and then in a little bit his eyes came back and then he picked his head up. And then he started talking. And then I said, ask his wife she was right there. And she said, when this happened, she’s a nurse. She tried to take his pulse later. She said, it felt pretty. She said, she’d feel it. And then it’d stop. She’d feel it. Another person took his pulse while this is going on. He had no pulse. But anyway, she said, it was like the Lord said, “Do you want him to live?” He’s up 82 years old, 81 years old. And she said, “Lord, I don’t want him. I don’t want him to live.” So, but this man believes God all the time. He’s always, and he’s always, he’s confessed this to me. He’s said this to me for years, I’m gonna live to be 107 years old. Now I’ve worked with him on a roof in the last five years. He was up in his upper 70s then. He work out work a 45 year old man. I mean, just healthy and strong because his body is responding to his words. But this other man thanked me for praying for him. And he nearly died and went through all these things and received his miracle medically. But he thanked me for praying for him, but it’s not hard to pray for people that are operating in faith. It’s just like, there’s a natural flow. And you’re not trying to get them there. They’re already there. And so when you come in and agree with them and pray, you’re just getting on the same page with where they’re at. Now my friend, I asked his wife, I said, do you want. She said, I think we should go have him checked out so that we put him in a man’s car and they took him down to the hospital. And so that was before second service. So at during worship in second service, I began to speak though, I was mad at the devil. And you know what? I don’t think it’s wrong to get mad at the devil. And I mean to speak the Word. I said, he will, his name is Harry. But I said, “He will not be in the hospital long. They will not be able to find anything wrong. He will be healthy and strong.” We had another man that had a heart attack a number of years ago, same exact physical symptoms, but he didn’t die. We prayed for him. And then we’d sent him to the hospital and he was in there for seven weeks and lived to tell about it, but he had major, major problems. But I said, he’s not gonna have any problems. They won’t find anything wrong. So that was about 10:15, or something. And I prayed for him. The service started at 10:30 and during worship, I just believe in it speaking the Word. Of course, he’s believed and spoke the Word for years. So they’re down at the hospital and getting all these tests. Then I got outta church and went home and ate lunch quickly, and then went to the hospital to see him in the emergency room and said, “Well, they can’t find anything wrong.” The nurse there, she asked him about it. He said, “Yeah, this is what happened.” And she said, “The Holy Spirit was with you.” And so it was interesting. They travel there from Kansas. So they went over there that her day, see their grandkids. They were coming back and they stopped in Burlington, at the state place. And Rhonda Peterson?

Yes.

She was working there. So he started telling Rhonda, he didn’t know who she was. He started telling her that God raised him from the dead. Telling her this story. She said, “Who is your pastor? Where do you go to church?” He said, “Well is Charis Christian Center.” She said, “Oh, that’s Pastor Lawson Pardue.” So anyway, she got all excited. Then he told him that…

You know what I’m hearing is a lot of testimonies. And even David, he gave his testimonies about victory and how the Lord came through. So I met Tin Howe. He sent his Word and he picked him up and brought him through, gave him his spirit of faith where he could overcome. Testimonies are so powerful. And one of the testimonies that we always talk about was a wonderful example of spirit of faith is Mark 5, with a woman that heard a testimony. Many testimonies of people who had reached out and touched Jesus’ clothes. And when they did, they received the power of God and they were healed. And she said it, she said

Right, within herself.

She said and kept on saying, I can touch his clothes. I will be healed. And so that was the spirit of faith. It’s contagious. And with a testimony like you’re giving, like you’re speaking, praise God. A spirit of faith is catch. I believe somebody is receiving a spirit of faith about whatever that issue is it you are facing that God is no respect of persons. He will do for you what He’s done for anyone. Take hold of the spirit of faith. You have it inside of you. Begin to speak like that woman. She said, “I know if I touch Jesus’ clothes, I will be healed.” And she didn’t quit saying it. It says, she kept on. She kept on. And your words are motivating you to reach out like that woman did. And she touched Jesus’ clothes. She pressed through the crowd. You might need to overcome resistance. You might need to overcome like you did, you praising God, and declaring and speaking, you overcome with your words, with your praise and you lay hold on the power of God. When she touched Jesus’ clothes. And it says, “She felt that power come into her.”

Praise God, immediately she was made worth.

Immediately.

Jesus was being thrown by a multitude of people. And He said, “Who touched me?” The disciples are like, the multitude is throwing you. And yet you say, who touched me? And we’ve been in Mark 5. And we’ve been talking about the woman who had an issue of blood. It said she went to many doctors. And she spent all her money and she wasn’t any better, but rather she grew worse. But when she heard of Jesus. She heard the word, she heard the testimony. She said within herself, if I could but touch Him. If I could, but touch the helm of his garment, I will be well. And so she came to where He was and she pressed. Now she’d been bleeding for 12 years. She was weak. But she said, if I can just touch Him, I’ll be well. You know what? The touch of faith is different.

Touch of faith. Yes.

When she touched Him, she felt in her body. In other words, all the steps of faith come before the feelings. A lot of people wants feelings first. And they’re like, well, I’m starting to feel it. But she didn’t feel nothing that she touched. And when she touched Him, she felt the anointing come out of Him and went into her. And Jesus felt that anointing, which the power of God is tangible and came out of Him and went into her. And so Jesus turned about to see who did this thing. So He didn’t know who did it. He just turned about to see who made contact with Him. One translation says, so it’s a big crowd. So he’s looking because if you ever make contact with Jesus, your countless is gonna look different. So he’s going, and it said, He turned about to see. And one translation He said, “He studied the faces in the crowd to see who made contact with Him.” So He’s looking at all the faces and people’s faces all kinds of ways. And you’re teaching really. And He’s looking at the faces. And when He saw her face, He knew she’s the one. Her countless had changed. And she felt in her body she was healed. And then it says, and she told Him the whole story. So Dad Hagen gave us this sermon years ago that he said he got from Jesus Himself. That he was having a vision of Jesus. And he said, “Lord, I preach on the Mark 5, one of this you’ll blood, he said, I two different sermons I preach on that. He said, but every time I preach on it seems like I’m leaving something out. If I am leaving something out, would you please tell me what I’m leaving out? And Jesus, He said, smile and said, yes. He said, “Get you a piece of paper, get you a pencil and write down one, two, three, four.” And then Jesus said, any person, anywhere that will take these four steps or put these four principles and operation will always receive whatever they want or need from God, not only healing, but anything else.

[Lawson] Praise God.

And so he wrote that down. Then Jesus asked Dad Hagen said, so what’s the first thing that this woman did? And Dad Hagen said, the first thing was she heard. And Jesus said, “No, that’s not right. Someone else did that.” He said, I wanna know what’s the first thing she did after she heard.

After she heard,

Because it’s what you do after you hear the Word that will determine what you received from God. So someone else had told her and she heard of Jesus. That’s a part of her faith, but what did she do? And then Dad Hagen said, I don’t have a clue. And so He said, the Lord said, the first thing she did is she said, after she heard, she started getting her mouth moving, speaking words of faith. She said, and she said, and she kept on saying. In other words, the speaking part of faith is essential to your faith. And He said, well, number two, what’s the second thing she did? Said the second thing she did is she acted. She acted. In other words, she started doing and moving like her faith was saying, and she started moving and she got up and started heading towards Jesus. So now she’s acting. So faith must be in your words, next it must be in your actions. So she started moving, that’s number two. What’s the third thing she did? He said, the third thing she did is she pressed through the crowd and she touched Him or she received the anointing? So number one, she said it. Number two, she acted. Number three, she received the anointing of the power of God. And I said, what’s the last thing? Number four, the fourth thing is she told it. She told her testimony. Matter of fact, sometimes when you feel like you’re struggling, then he said, if you would just tell your testimony of what Jesus has done for you, it will strengthen your faith. And Jesus said, “Daughter, your faith has made you whole, go in peace and behold of your plague.” In other words, He said the same faith that made you whole will keep you whole. Four steps Dad Hagen entitled the sermon; “How to Write Your Own Ticket With God.” You heard that 50 years ago. How to write your own ticket. He said, I got so much criticism for preachers over that title. But Jesus gave him the sermon, that daughter, your faith has made you whole. And he said, that’s the same words that Jesus told him when he had seven incurable diseases and he was laying there and the preachers would come in and say, the day a miracle’s been done away with. And you know, he has been done away with. And so he said, when he read Mark 5, the Lord asked him, has any of the preachers ever said that faith has been done away with? He said, not one of them. He said no and they never will. Because if faith has been done away with then nobody can be saved. So faith has not been done away with. And if her faith made her whole, then your faith will make you whole.

[Trina] Amen.

[Lawson] Amen.

And so those steps of simple, the spirit of faith. In other words, the Psalmist David said it this way in Psalms 18, he said, “The Lord will light my candle. Then I can run through the troop. I can jump over the wall. I’ll chase my enemies down. I’ll trample them underneath my feet.” In other words, the spirit of faith is more than just a formula. The spirit of faith is like a fire that lights your inner man that you believe nothing shall be impossible to me. In other words, what used to be your boundaries and limits. He said, I’m gonna run through the troop. I’m gonna jump the wall. I’m going into new territory because the Lord lit my candle. So that’s the spirit of faith is more than just steps. It is a fire that burns in your heart.

That’s that attitude.

That major attitude of faith. And look at this, the Lord spoke to me one time and said, my Word it’s two edged sword. And there too many Christians just are trying to use that for defense. When they have a challenge, they’re trying to defend and protect their position. But it’s also can be used for offense. You don’t even have to wait till you get sick to believe for healing. You don’t have to wait till you’re in a financial challenge to believe for finances. And you can correct me if I’m wrong. I believe that Brother Hagen said this, you know him better than me, but I’ve listened to him Psalm and read a lot of his books and things. But he said in two realms, I’m always believing God. One is the realm of finances. And the other is in the realm of healing. Because in those areas it seems like the devil will try to fight you to stop you from accomplishing God’s purpose. Is that correct?

So in other words, your faith, really the spirit of faith is the same and it works the same. ‘Cause it’s a spiritual law of faith and it works the same in the area of your finances, in the area of your health, in the area of your healing. When you’re fighting a good fight of faith, it works the same. In other words, you read the Word of God and you get lit. Your believer gets lit on fire. Then you speak the Word, you put that Word in your mouth. In other words, speaking is the initial act of faith that Jesus said have faith in God. And the first thing Jesus said about faith is if your faith is not strong enough to move your mouth, it will never move a mountain.

Woohoo.

In other words, is the first thing Jesus said about faith is faith in God whosoever shall say. In other words, the spirit of faith must speak. Whosoever shall say, then he said, unto this mountain be removed because he should not doubt his Word. Believe those things, which He sayeth shall come to pass. He shall whatsoever he sayeth. So Dad Hagen said back in those days he was teaching on the speaking part of faith. And he was teaching on faith. And he was talking about the confession of faith, the same part of faith. And he said, other preachers were saying, and you know you talk about this too much. Kind of like trying to get him to not talk about faith so much and speaking. So he said, he went back to Mark 11:23. He said, I was praying. The Lord said to me, “Did you ever notice that the saying part of faith is in Mark 11:23 three times. And the believing part only once.” And he said, you’ll have to do three times more teaching on the saying part of faith than you do on the believing part. Because most of my children are not missing it in the believing department, they believe the Bible, they believe the Word, they’re missing it in the saying or the speaking department. So you’ll have to do three times more teaching on the saying part than you do on the believing part.

Amen. So we gotta keep believing and speaking the Word of God. And as we keep believing and speaking what God says, we’ll have what He says. Amen.
