Our world is going a bit crazy, but you can be safe in God’s hands when you understand that the foundation for a purpose-driven life aligns with God’s will—always the safest place to be. I’ve discovered that being safe in God’s hands means being at peace because I trust God’s promises of protection. He can and will keep His promises!
What Bible Verses Talk About God’s Protection?
Here are some Bible verses that talk about God’s promises of protection:
Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
Psalm 32:7 “You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah.”
Psalm 34:7 “The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him,
And delivers them.”
Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Why Is Trusting God So Hard Sometimes?
I wasn’t born with complete trust in God. I’ve read the Bible and learned that God is faithful to keep His promises. Over the years, I’ve seen Him keep His promise to protect me, which has built my faith and trust in Him. Many people find trusting God hard at times because they trust what they see, hear, think, or feel rather than trusting in God’s promises. When God says in His Word that He will never leave or forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6), that is something you can trust because God cannot lie (Hebrews 6:18).
How Can I Overcome Fear by Trusting in God?
In my life, I have overcome fear by trusting in God. I’m not alone in this approach. King David faced many threatening situations and wrote numerous Psalms about trusting in God. Psalm 56:3–4 says, “Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God (I will praise His word), in God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?” Once I realized that it is God’s nature to protect, I knew that I could call on the names of God: El Shaddai means “God Almighty,” conveying protection and strength; Jehovah Nissi means “The Lord is my Banner,” showing divine protection in battle; and Jehovah Saboath means “God of Hosts or Lord of Armies,” signifying God’s role as a protector and defender of His people.
What Spiritual Disciplines Help Strengthen Trust in God?
Throughout my years as a pastor, I’ve discovered these spiritual disciplines that help strengthen trust in God:
- Read the Bible: When I spend time in God’s Word, I find the truth about Him and His promises to me. As I meditate on His Word, the verses speak comfort and peace to my spirit.
- Prayer: As I talk to God, He talks to me, not in an audible voice, but directly to my spirit. The more I have conversations with Him, the more I learn to recognize His voice. That builds trust that I’m hearing Him, and He is leading and protecting me.
- Worship: The more I worship and praise God for who He is, I’m reminding myself of His power and ability to take care of me and my situation.

How Do I Live a Purpose-Driven Life According to the Bible?
By adding these spiritual disciplines to my daily life, I build trust in God that He created me with a plan and a purpose. I can live a purpose-driven life according to the Bible by finding, following, and fulfilling God’s plan for my life. When I know who I am in Christ and what He created me to do, I align my daily choices with God’s Word and follow His will for my life.
What Is the Difference Between God’s Will and My Will?
The main difference between God’s will and my will is that God’s will never contradicts His Word. God’s will leads me to want what He wants and to do what He created me to do. My will can be very selfish, but God’s will always reveals His heart for people to know Him and worship Him. I find that following God’s will for my life brings the kingdom of heaven to this earth. Colossians 3:2 says, “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.” So, ultimately, the best way to be safe in God’s hands is to be where His hand is guiding you by following His will for your life.
