I have found peace in knowing that God is fighting my battles, and I will share some scriptures
you can declare over your life to see victory, also! We all face battles where victory seems
impossible in our own strength, and that’s the key—when we can’t win, God shows up and gets
the glory! When we partner with God to do His will, He promises to show up and fight for us.
Bible Verses for When the Battle Feels Impossible
Here are some of the scriptures I declare over my life.
Exodus 14:13–14 But Moses said to the people, “Fear not! Stand firm! And see the salvation of the LORD, which He will show you today. For the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you shall never see again. 14 The Lord shall fight for you, while you hold your peace.”
Deuteronomy 1:30 The LORD your God who goes before you, He shall fight for you, just as all that He did for you in Egypt before your eyes.
1 Samuel 17:47 And then all this assembly will know that it is not by sword and spear that the
LORD saves. For the battle belongs to the Lord, and He will give you into our hands.
2 Chronicles 20:17 “ ‘It will not be necessary for you to fight in this conflict. Take your positions,
stand, and observe the deliverance of the Lord for you, O Judah and Jerusalem.’ Do not fear or
be filled with terror. Tomorrow, go out before them, and the Lord will be with you.”
Psalm 91:9–10 Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your
dwelling, 10 there shall be no evil befall you, neither shall any plague come near your tent.
Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
2 Timothy 4:18 The Lord will deliver me from every evil work and will preserve me for His
heavenly kingdom, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

God Fights for Us When We Cannot
Here are some common questions about God fighting your battles.
What does it mean that God is fighting my battles?
It is essential to acknowledge that God created people, loves people, and sent His Son to die on a cross for the sins of all people. There is an enemy of God, Satan, who seeks to kill, steal, and destroy (John 10:10). God defends and delivers His people when we call upon Him. Our part is to call on Him and trust in Him, and He will be with us and fight for us. We may not see everything that He does, but we see situations supernaturally change in ways we know were His doing—not ours.
What stories in the Bible are about God fighting battles?
Much of the Old Testament chronicles how God fought for His chosen people, the Israelites. Many familiar Bible characters faced battles that were impossible until God stepped in to fight for them: David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17), Daniel in the Lion’s Den – the mouths of the lions were shut (Daniel 6), Queen Esther (Esther 4–7), Moses and the Egyptians (Exodus 1–14), and Joshua and the Walls of Jericho (Joshua 6).
Why does God allow battles in our lives?
God does not send battles to teach us a lesson or to test us. God is a loving Father, and no good father would test or send terrible things to happen to their children. God has given people free will to choose to follow Him or not. Often, the battles people face are consequences of their own choices and not God’s doing.

How do I build faith during spiritual battles?
Many of our battles are spiritual and can be a sign that you are taking territory for the kingdom of God. Ephesians 6:12 says, “For our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” Another scripture, 2 Timothy 3:12, says, “Yes, and all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.”
We can build our faith to battle spiritually by putting on the whole armor of God, found in
Ephesians 6:14–17: the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of peace, shield of
faith, helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit. Prayer and meditation on God’s Word
will also strengthen your faith as you encounter spiritual battles.
