He then unpacks Luke 16—the often-misunderstood parable of the unjust steward. Jesus teaches that the children of this world are sometimes wiser in their generation than the children of light. The steward, facing loss, suddenly began thinking about his future and made friends by unrighteous mammon. Jesus says, “He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much… If you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?” Money is the “least” thing. Learn to steward it faithfully and God trusts you with true riches—things money cannot buy.

Next, the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25 drives the point home. A master entrusts five talents, two talents, and one talent (each worth about a million dollars) to his servants. The first two doubled what they were given and heard those life-changing words: “Well done, good and faithful servant. You were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.” The one-talent servant, however, had a wrong image of his master—calling him a hard man—and buried his talent out of fear. He was called “wicked and lazy.” The reward for work well done is the opportunity to do more.

James 4 and 1 Peter 5 complete the picture: “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.” Pride, victim mentality, fear, and ownership thinking block promotion. The steward mindset—realizing everything (finances, relationships, time, ministry, even your children) belongs to God—frees you. When attacks come, God defends what is His.

Throughout the series, Pastor Lawson shares transparent stories from his own life: starting a church with almost no people or money yet tithing and giving 10-50% faithfully; building businesses through diligence; watching his sons rise through hard work and favor; and seeing God multiply the ministry to reach 54 countries.
