Why Give?

Have you ever asked the question, “why give?”  Let me ask you this, do you want to be rich?

The Bible says a “generous soul will be made rich” (Proverbs 11:25)

It also says “he who has a generous eye will be blessed” (Proverbs 22:9).  In other words someone who is always looking for ways to give will be very blessed.

You could say, that just sounds crazy!  I have seen these scriptures and others on giving come to pass in our personal life as well as our ministry.  Every farmer and gardener knows the basic rule:  PLANT A SEED AND IT WILL GROW!

My husband grew up in the country with the culture or mindset that if your neighbor needs help, you help them.  Good custom to cultivate!  From the first year we were married making $800 a month with a house (trailer) payment of $200 we gave to God first.  We paid our bills on time and helped those who needed help.  We have given away clothes, furniture, groceries, paid bills, bought appliances for others, and given cash, purposed in our hearts, as mentioned in II Corinthians 9:7, and given anonymously.  We have given away vehicles and helped others buy their own home.

Over the years what has transpired is nothing short of miraculous!  Our closet is full of clothes, our house is full of furniture, and we have more than enough groceries; while giving away continually.

Get rid of the lack mindset.  It will hold you back from the good harvest that is waiting for you!  The Bible is clear about how to enjoy a blessed life.

“Blessed are you who sow beside all waters, who send out freely the feet of the ox and the donkey.”

Isaiah 32:20

In other words, cast your seed upon all waters you will be blessed with bountiful crops.

“A generous man devises generous things, and by generosity he shall stand.”

Isaiah 32:8

“That I may cause those who love me to inherit wealth, that I may fill their treasuries.”

Proverbs 8:21

Let’s finish with the scripture passage we began with, for it really wraps things up great!

“There is one who scatters, yet increases more; And there is one who withholds more than is right, but it leads to poverty.  Those who live to bless others will have blessings heaped upon them, and the one who pours out his life to pour out blessings will be saturated with favor.”  (v25 Passion).

Proverbs 11:24-25

The liberal soul will be rich.  Plant a seed and it will grow!
