Friends, I’m so glad that you tuned in, that you’re with us today. We’re gonna be talking about gifts of power today. We’re gonna be talking about the gift of faith. We’re gonna be talking about the working of miracles and gifts of healings, and we’re gonna use some examples in the Old Testament, in the life of Jesus in the Book of Acts and in our own lives. Thank God the Holy Spirit is real today, and His gifts operate in the church today. Stay tuned, you’ll be blessed.

Friends, we are so glad to have you with us today. We’re teaching on the gifts of the Holy Spirit, specifically the gifts of power. Now in 1 Corinthians chapter 12, where we begin, Paul says, “Concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you to be ignorant. God doesn’t want us to be ignorant, concerning,” so there is a lot of ignorance concerning spiritual gifts in the body of Christ. And then he says in verse four, “There are differences of gifts, but the same spirit.” And he says in verse seven, “The manifestation of the spirit is given to every person to profit with all they’re to give.” You talked about this in the broadcast yesterday. They’re to edify the body. They’re to build up the body. And he talks about these nine manifestations of the Holy Spirit. And then he says in verse 11, “All these works that one in self, same spirit dividing to every person severally as he will.” You can operate in several of them. Jesus operated in all seven that were given at that time, tongues and interpretation, and not been given. Paul probably operated in all nine manifestations of the Holy Spirit at different times. Now they’re given by the Holy Spirit, they operate by the Holy Spirit. But today we’re talking about the gifts of power. Now, the gifts of power are the gift of faith, which is when God works through a person or instrument to perform a super natural act. That’s actually the work in miracles, in an instant when that’s the working of miracles. So the gift of faith is when God, you know, when there’s no personal action, but God does it and just gives you the faith to believe it. Like Daniel in the Old Testament is a great example of the gift of faith. And when he was put in the lions den, God’s sent his angel and shut the lion’s mouth. And Daniel just didn’t do anything. Sampson, on the other hand, operated in the working miracles and the spirit of God came on Sampson, and he tore a lion in two with his bare hands. So that is a different operation of the spirit, same spirit, different operation. And then the gifts of healings are specific gifts of healings. They’re both plural in the Greek and 1 Corinthians 12. And we see an example in Acts chapter eight, when Philip was at Samaria and when he preached Christ to them, many who were lame with the palsy were healed. So he had a gift that was operating in that area. And we don’t turn the gifts on or off. God turns them. We don’t operate in these gifts. We can put ourselves in a place to operate in, but God’s the one who operates. The Holy Spirit operates these gifts, and we don’t manipulate ’em, so to speak. So thank God for these different gifts that we have today in the body, and in Acts 1:8, Jesus said, “You will receive power after the Holy Spirit comes on you.” And that word in the Greek is Dunamis, special, wonderful, miracle-working power. “And you’ll be witnesses,” Jesus said, “of me in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria.” In Isaiah 11:2, it talks about the Spirit on Jesus. And let’s read, Aaron read Isaiah 11:1-2. And I want to comment on it really quickly. Isaiah chapter 11:1-2.

Yeah, it says here, “There shall come forth a rod from the stem of Jesse and a branch shall grow out of his roots, the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge in of the fear of the Lord.”

So there are actually seven aspects of the spirit of God. They’re listed right here, the spirit of the Lord, the spirit of wisdom, the spirit of understanding, the spirit of counsel, the spirit of might, the spirit of knowledge and the spirit of the fear of the Lord. And the Bible talks in a couple places about the seven spirits of God. It’s actually, I believe seven aspects of the Holy Spirit. And we can see those on the Lord Jesus. Now, one of those that’s listed is the spirit of might. I believe the spirit of might has to do with these gifts of power, right? The gift of faith, the working miracles, the gifts of healings. That Hebrew word for might is gevurah and it means strength, might, mighty deeds. And so it’s the might, the magnificent power of the Holy Spirit. And Dr. Lester Sumrall said, “The greatest power on earth is the power of the Holy Spirit.” Now, when we define again the gift of faith, it’s a special gift of faith beyond ordinary faith that’s beyond natural or saving faith. But it’s a gift of faith. And when God gives this gift operates, it’s no human strength involved. Like Daniel again, in the lions den, God sent his angels shut the lion’s mouth. God gave Daniel air a wages to believe Him. It works with protection, it works with provision. We can see an example in 1 King’s, I believe it’s chapter 17, when Elijah, the prophet, was sent to the hells of Samaria and he was sent to the brook Charith and he was there. The angels would bring him food, right? And he could see, or the ravens would bring him food, bread, and flesh in the morning, and in the evening he could see his meals coming. And then we see he moved from that to, he moved from there to Zarephath with the widow at Zarephath. And she had just a little bit of meal in a barrel, a little oil. And when he got there, God sent him there, and he said, “What are you doing?” She said, “I got just a little bit of meal, a little bit oil. I’m gonna go fix me and my son of cake, and then we’re gonna die.” Not, didn’t seem like she had a lot of faith, but all Elijah said, “Feed me first and that barrel will not waste. And that oil will not fail until God sends rain in Israel.” And they ate of that. Now they go to that jar every day. They’d open it up and right there it was. So there was a progression of this gift, right? They could see the ravens bringing breakfast, bringing dinner every day. Then every day they go to that jar and there’s the oil and go to the other jar, there’s the meal for that day. And then after that, the queen got mad at him ’cause he killed the prophets of Baal, and the angel came and cooked him a cake. We say this is the first angel food cake. And he ran in the strength of that cake for 40 days and 40 nights. It’s a progression of that gift of faith.

Yeah, I like something you were saying about the spirit of might. Something I’ve kind of observed about people who operate in the power gifts, in these gifts of miracles, working in miracles, gifts of healings and gift of faith, they often hang out with people who have those giftings. They kind of learn it, and it kind of, they learned how to operate in it from other people. When I was going to school in Pittsburgh many years ago, I got to help out with meetings that an evangelist by the name of Billy Burke was doing there in Pittsburgh. Billy Burke grew up in Pittsburgh. When he was 10 years old, he was actually, had terminal brain cancer and his grandmother took him to a service in downtown Pittsburgh, it was at the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Pittsburgh. But Kathryn Kuhlman was holding a meeting there, and he was sitting up in the balcony and she pointed at him, she had a word of knowledge that God was healing him. And he came down and she prayed over him. He was knocked out in the power of the spirit, and all the tumors in his brain were instantly gone. So he,

Praise God. he kind of learned actually from Kathryn Kuhlman, this minister by the name of Billy Burke. And he really flowed in those gifts, gifts of miracles, gifts of healings, and that gift of faith. But you know, you’re talking about that spirit of might. David was someone who flowed with that spirit of might when the Holy Spirit came upon him, he had might, but then people who hung out with David, it talks about the mighty man. At first David was the only giant killer. But people who hung out with David, that spirit of might came on them, and these people who were downcast, distraught, in debt, they became mighty men. They became millionaires, billionaires, giant killers.

Praise God.

So that type of anointing, it-

It’ll change you.

Yeah. The anointing will change you. You know, you talked about Billy Burke. We’ve had him in our church and we had a woman in our church that had been diagnosed with AIDS. She’d already been to hospice, given up to die. She got outta hospice, came to our church. You could not recognize her. She was literally gray, her skin gray. She was on oxygen. And Billy Burke prayed for her, and she said, “I’ve been healed.: And boy, she didn’t look healed a bit. I mean, she was still gray. She came back the next week, “I’ve been healed, Jesus healed me.” She came back the next week and by about three weeks in, her skin turned pink. And she lived many more years after that, that she was diagnosed with AIDS, dying of AIDS, and God healed her. We had a woman that was brought to us on a combine crew, and she was working on a combine crew by Haswell, Colorado, about 40 miles from Kit Carson. They brought this woman to our church. She had been diagnosed with AIDS. The elders laid hands on her, prayed for and anointed her with oil. And she was, her blood was clean. Praise God. It was a working of a miracle. Praise God. God does these things and He still does ’em today. I know, Aaron, you’ve operated in this somewhat. I remember we had a young lady in our church and she was diagnosed with a heart disease. They said it was incurable and she was in the hospital, and I sent you and Cason Cruise to the hospital to pray for her. And you guys went and she was miraculously healed. And she’s never had to take ongoing medication. She was completely healed by the power of God. So we’ve seen many of these things. We got a young man in our church right today, he’s probably about 12 years old, Jackson Clepp. And he was diagnosed with numbers of diseases. They said he would “die young.” He was on 11 or 12 medications every day. He had to take on a good day. And God, he believed God. God miraculously healed him. So we’ve seen many of these things. I like what you’re saying, how people receive it when they hang around other people. Moses and Joshua, Elijah and Elisha. Kathryn Kuhlman, Billy Burke, present day examples, right? Jack Cole was in the voice of healing. A lot of people don’t know about him, but most of us have heard of RW Shamrock and RW Shamrock traveled with Jack Cole and operated in the power, the miraculous power of God, amazing miracles of God’s power in healing. And so, thank God for these gifts and this gift of my, the Lord actually spoke to me when I was in Kit Carson. Years ago, one night he woke me up in the middle of the night and He said, “I’m gonna demonstrate to you and through you the spirit of might.” We recently had a person in our church in between services, the head of our prayer team, and I went over, I could see they called me, “Come pastor.” They were all joined around and praying, and he was white as a sheet, he’s sweating bullets. And then his eyes rolled up in his head and his head fell back. His pulse stopped. I went over and saw it was happening, and it just, it just hit me, man, and I just went over, they said I “hit him in the chest.” I didn’t think I hit him. I laid my hands on his back and my hand on his chest, and I probably did hit him a little bit, but I commanded his heart to start. I commanded his blood to flow and a little bit, his eyes rolled back in his head and he sat up, praise God. Two people checked him, said he had no pulse. Praise God, he went to the hospital. They couldn’t find any thing wrong. They put him on a heart monitor for two weeks. They couldn’t find anything wrong. Jesus healed him. Praise God, now he’s a believer. He’s been speaking for years. He’s about 81 years old, but he’s been saying for years he’s gonna live to be 107. Judy, his wife was right there, wonderful woman in faith. She said, “She felt like the Lord asked her, ‘Do you want him to stay or do you want him to go?'” She said, “I want him to stay.” So she got what she believed for, praise God. And you know, we had a group of believers standing around there praying, believing God. Wonderful things happen when we get in the presence of God. And we’ve seen miracles, we’ve seen healings, we’ve seen operations of the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit wants to move today. Praise God. Thank God He moves today. All right, we’re gonna take a break. We’ll be back right after this. We’re gonna talk more about healing. Friends, I wanna share about the special offer that we have today. And welcome back to the broadcast. It’s great to see you all. We’ve been sharing about the gifts of the Holy Spirit sharing from 1 Corinthians 12. There are nine manifestations of the Holy Spirit, but we’ve been talking about three in particular. We’re talking about the gifts of power, which are the working of miracles, the gifts of healings, and also the gift of faith, this type of supernatural faith. We all have faith, but sometimes you need a special gift of faith for God to work his power in you and through you.

Amen. So there’s examples. You know, the greatest events in history of humanity are marked by God’s power. The miracle creation, the miracle, the incarnation when Jesus was born and came into this life, in this world, the miracle of the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. That was a gift of God’s power. And you know, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, and God the Father were all involved in the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. There are power gifts in the Old Testament. Moses at the burning bush with the rod of God, the plagues of Egypt, the crossing of the Red Sea, the tree of healing, when Moses cast a tree into the water in Exodus 15. And the waters were healed. And God made a covenant with Israel and said, “If you operate in my covenant, I am the Lord who heals you.” When God gave them manna and quail, that every day, provision by God’s power. When Joshua commanded the sun to stand still, when Sampson killed the lion, when he carried off the city gates, when he killed a thousand Philistines with the jaw bone of a donkey. And at his death when he pulled down that great house that he was in between two pillars, you know, his hair had grown long again. And they’d poked out his eyes and made fun of him. He said, “Will you give me this power one time again?” And he killed more, twice as many Philistines in his death as he did his whole life. And really this, he was beginning to deliver Israel. And this was a really, a type of Christ in this. So we see all these examples. David, when he killed the lion, when he killed the bear, when he killed Goliath, that was a demonstration of God’s power. Elijah, when he called fire down from heaven, we talked about this already, when the ravens fed him, the meal and the oil fed him, Elijah at the river Jordan with the widows oil, with the son of Schumann, with the ax head floating. That was a miracle. He cast a stick in the water, and a miracle will change the nature. When Jesus walked on the water, that was a working of a miracle. It was a gift of God’s power. So we see these things.

Yeah, and maybe some of these miracles, maybe you haven’t seen quite as many of these miracles or these types of miracles in your life, but you can start believing God somewhere in your life. You can pray over your pets, you can pray over your finances. A lot of working of miracles in scripture are actually miracles of a provision, financial type miracles. The very first miracle that Jesus performed was actually a miracle of provision.

[Pastor Lawson] Amen.

He was at a wedding and they ran out of wine, so he prayed over water and it was turned into wine and met that need. That was the beginning. It says in John 2:11, “This beginning of miracles did Jesus and manifested His glory.” With the gifts of power, there’s a manifestation of the glory of God. And his disciples believed on him. What a marvelous thing.

You know, when I was a young man, I hadn’t, you know, seen a lot of miracles yet personally, things that I had prayed for, but I remember when I was 22 years old, just about ready to graduate from college. I went to Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, and I was getting close to graduating, and I didn’t have that much money. I think I only had 10, $20 available. But I actually believed God for a miracle of provision. I believed God that within a week, I would have a $1,000. And for me that that’d be a very major miracle. I was making $10 an hour at the time, calling alumni, asking for donations. And I remember, I was walking home, this is shortly after I prayed that, I was walking home and I had to walk about half a mile up this hill. Pittsburgh is very hilly city, and I had to walk up a hill to get to where I was living at the time, and it was trash day, and just at the bottom of the hill, someone had thrown out some trash and I saw a microwave there on the curb and I thought, well, I’m gonna pick up this microwave and carry it up the hill, half a mile and try to sell it, start applying my faith. I wanted to get $1,000 in a week. And I carried this big, kind of old hunker of a microwave up the hill, and I took it into my place, I plugged it in, and I was hoping it would work. I wanted to make some money, especially after carrying this thing up a big hill, and I’m kind of a skinny guy so it’s a lot of work getting up that hill. I plugged it in and it didn’t turn on, and then I just laid my hands on it and prayed and just said, “In the name of Jesus,”

Amen. “Microwave work.” And the thing turned on and I tested it on and it worked, it could heat up a cup of water. And I sold it for I think $30 on Craigslist that same day. You gotta-

[Lawson] Within a week you had $1,000?

Yeah and then actually within a week, I had $1,000. I had found other things that people were throwing out towards the end of the school year, people were moving out, just throwing out things, and within a week I made $1,000. But a miracle kind of kicked that thing off. I believe that that microwave was a miracle. And maybe you haven’t seen too many miracles yet, but you can start believing God somewhere.

Yeah, it’s important that we believe God. Jesus said this, we said, “Miracles in the glory are connected,” right? So one of the greatest miracles of Jesus, right, is the resurrection of Lazarus from the dead. He had been dead four days. His body was already starting to rot. And he goes to the grave and tells him, “Open the tomb there.” “Oh my God, Jesus, by this time, he’s stinking, he’s rotten.” Jesus said, “If you will believe, you will see the glory of God,” John 11:40. And so they roll the stone away, and Lazarus, and Jesus says, “Lazarus come forth.” And Lazarus, I believe the Spirit of God picked him up and blew him out of the tomb. What a marvelous miracle of God’s power. This may be one of the greatest miracles of Jesus and Lazarus is down there bound, hand and foot in grave clothes, strips of cloth. And Jesus says, “Loose and let him go.” My what a miracle. Praise God. There are miracles today. Jesus is in the miracle working business and the Holy Spirit works miracles among us. And you know, again, we can’t turn that gift on or off, but the Holy Spirit does. But we can put ourself in a place to be used by the Holy Spirit and faith is one of the things that’ll do it. Praise God. You talked about that. And so, you know, we see all these, Jesus spoke to a fig tree and cursed it. And within 24 hours it dried up from the roots. I believe the bark was falling off of, it looked like it had been dead for 10 years. And the disciples were like, “Jesus, the fig tree you cursed is dead.” Miracles of healings, power, the gifts of healings. In Luke 5:17, the Bible says, “The power of the Lord was present to heal them.” It was a gift of God’s power.

I like that you talked about the miracle of Jesus cursing the fig tree and it dying. I think that can work in reverse. A couple months ago, I was at home for lunch and my wife and kids were gone, but I heard this big boom, this big flash of light, lightning hit really close by and I thought, well, the electricity was still working in my house. So I thought, well, must have hit my neighbor’s house or something. And about 15 minutes later after this lightning struck, I was outside watering some plants and I saw firefighters in my backyard and they said, “Hey, is this tree yours?” And they pointed to one of the trees on my property, a big, a 40 foot blue spruce, a Colorado blue spruce tree, and it was smoldering at the top. And they said, “Your neighbors actually called and said, ‘There’s a tree that’s on fire, it’s smoldering.” And then they came and put water on it to help stop it from smoldering. And I was asking the firefighters there, “Is this tree, is it gonna survive or not?” They say, “Well, we don’t really know. It got hit pretty good. It was smoldering at the top.” But I told my wife, she’s a faith person. She believes in miracles. I said, “Hey, go lay hands on that tree and pray that it’ll live.” You know, it’s taken that thing 20 years to grow that big, and I don’t wanna wait another 20 years and have to plant another one. But this is a few months later, but the tree is still healthy. It’s doing well. And we’ve actually prayed over that tree.

Amen.

Like Jesus cursed the fig tree and it died, we blessed the blue spruce tree and it’s living.

You know we had a dog and she nearly died when I first got her, our first little Sheltie, and we got her at a dog pound in Lamar, Colorado. We had her in Kit Carson. We had a small feed lot. But right after I got her, you know, she was running out back, I had a trail that went between the house and a feed lot that I had, and she ran in front of my little Honda car and got run over and I thought she was gonna die. And she’s just laying there and mom said, “She’s just laying out there. She’s almost dead.” Mom said, “You go put her in a box and bring her in here.” And I brought her in the garage in a little box and mom laid hands on her and prayed for her. And within two or three days, she got up, walked, had no problem. She lived 13 years. When we first moved here to Colorado Springs, you boys loved that dog. And some neighbor poisoned her with rat poison. And we called in the vet because she was kicking, laying on the ground kicking, going in seizures. And we called the vet, they said, “We can’t do nothing. It’s too late.” And mom laid hands on her and prayed for her, and God healed her. She lived several more years. So thank God. God, you know, mom got, you know, in the ministry of the Holy Spirit under Dave Duell. Dave, when he came into the full gospel, Dave was a Presbyterian guy and he had a dairy, and he would pray over the cows and God would heal ’em. You know what? We prayed over cows and God’s healed them. I mean, God will bless you, God will help you, and there are miracles for today. And like you said, these gifts will help you. They’ll help you in your business. They’ll help you in your family. They’ll help you in your ministry, they’ll help you, all these different areas. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today. And therefore, so I thank God for these miracles. You know, the Bible talks about in Acts chapter 19, that God works special miracles in the life of the Apostle Paul, “So that from his body were brought different cloths, and diseases departed from them and evil spirits went out of them.” Praise God. And you know, I believe that there’s an anointing that carries, and just like copper carries electricity, cloth will carry the anointing of God and move it. There’s different things people don’t really, they haven’t studied these things and don’t know ’em. But thank God for the miracles of God. Aaron, why don’t you close out today?

Yeah, just, I thank you God for everyone watching this show today, Lord. I just thank you that the Spirit of God is real. Miracles are for today. So Lord, I just think that right now, people’s hearts are being stirred to receive miracles. Miracles of provision, miracles of healing, and just, just miracles of breakthrough. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
