World Changing Faith Part 2 Transcript

Praise the Lord, friends. We are sharing today about how faith works. And we’re gonna talk about how to release your faith. Did you know our faith is released through words? And what the word that has been spoken to you must be spoken through you. So open your heart and receive the Word of God. And we’re gonna teach you how to turn your faith into the manifestation of God’s promise. Blessings. Praise the Lord, friends. I’m glad you’re with us today. We’ve been sharing on World Changing Faith. And we’re talking today about how faith is released. Now, we began yesterday in Hebrews chapter 11, verse 1 primarily, and talked about what faith is. And we talked about how faith is trust, confidence, and assurance. We also talked about how you can tell that people are people of faith. We said that you could, it says now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Now, I don’t think that’s really a definition of faith. Read this in context. He’s talking about how you can see faith. People of faith are people whose lives have substance. Praise God, and how can you tell that they’re people of faith? By what they do and by what they say. Their lives are evidence of things not seen. We have evidence of a God that you cannot see. And their lives will give you evidence of things to come. Praise the Lord, I remember one time a woman came to me and she said, “Pastor, I was listening to this series.” And it’s before we built our first church in Colorado Springs. Now, we had built a church prior to that in Eastern Colorado. But she said, “I listened to this series, Pastor, and I remembered you preaching these things years ago.” And she said, “You were speaking these things and you were talking about how God was gonna do what he was gonna do for us as a church.” And she said, “I know when you were saying that, there was no evidence, natural evidence of that, so to speak, anywhere.” But she said, “It happened just like you said.” Do you know that our words have power, and we can speak into situations? We can speak and see things changed, see things directed in a new way. So we will keep speaking words of faith. Faith in God, it’ll change your world, it’ll change your life. Now, he says in Hebrews chapter 11 in verse 3, he says, “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” By faith we understand the worlds were framed. God framed the world with his word. Hallelujah. He spoke it into existence. He says, “The worlds were framed by the Word of God so that things which are seen were not made of things which to appear.” Now, think of framing. I believe that you can frame your world by the words that you speak. If you get a picture on the inside, we’re talking about framing, by faith we understand the worlds were framed by the Word of God. So I believe that the Holy Spirit came, right, Genesis chapter 1, verse 1, it says, “In the beginning, God created the heaven and earth.” Verse 2 says, “And the earth was without form and void, and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the deep.” If you study that where it says the Spirit of God moved on the face of the deep, it means he hovered over or brooded like a hen brooding over her eggs. And I believe what was happening is the Holy Spirit was creating a plan. And then as you go into Genesis chapter 1, it says, “And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and God said, ‘Let there be a firmament,’ And God said, God called these things into existence.” In other words, the Holy Spirit was creating a plan, and then God spoke it into existence. Now, I believe when you come into Christ, when you’re born again, you have a relationship with God through the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit knows the plan of God. And I believe as you spend time with the Holy Spirit, you who are made in the image of God will begin to speak things, call things forth, call those things that be not, just like God, as though they were. So we begin to speak words of faith, we begin to say things of faith. So faith is released by the spoken word. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God so that things which do appear were not made of things which are seen. In other words, God took words and spoke creation into existence. He took things that you cannot see and he spoke matter into existence. Now, 2 Peter chapter 3, verse 5 says this. “By the Word of God, the heavens were of old, which now are, and by the same word, they are kept in store.” In other words, God created heaven and earth with his word, and he holds everything together by his word. So faith is released through the spoken word. Do you know if you get ahold of this truth, I believe it will change your life. Proverbs 18:21 says this, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who love it will eat the fruit thereof.” Both death and life are in the power of your tongue. When you begin to understand that, he says those who love it will eat the fruit of it. You see, when you begin to understand that your words have power, just like in the beginning, God created the heaven and earth with his word. He called it into existence. Your words have power. And when you have a relationship with God through the Holy Spirit and begin to understand the plan and the purpose of God and what the Word of God says about you, you can begin to speak words of faith and see what God has promised you and what God has planned for you come to pass. Hallelujah. So we can believe the promises. And when we believe the promises, we’re gonna speak them. When we believe that God is our healer, that by Jesus’ stripes that we are healed, we will begin to speak words of life, words of health. And those words will begin to direct our life. You see, James talks about this in James chapter 3. And in fact, Mark Hankins was talking about this last week and talked about how, you know, years and years ago, Dr. Cho was in South Korea. And the leading neuroscientist in the land said, “Hey, we found out a brand new principle.” And so he said, “What is it?” And they said, “Well, if you speak words of life and health, your body will respond to your words.” And Dr. Cho said, “I’ve known that long time.” And so he said, “Well, how did you know that? We’ve just discovered this. Science has just discovered this.” So if you start saying I’m tired, your body will say I’m tired. You start saying I’m strong and healthy and doing the will of God, your body will start saying I’m strong and healthy and doing the will of God. So your body will respond to your words. And so we need to speak words of life. And so they asked Dr. Cho, they said, “Well, how have you known this?” He says Dr. James, Dr. James says that the tongue is able to affect the whole body. And he talks about this, and we’re gonna read here in James chapter 3 about the power of the tongue. He says this in James chapter 3, verse 1 through 6, “My brethren, do not be many masters knowing that we will receive the greater condemnation. For in many things we offend all. If a man offend not in word, the same as a complete man, whole man, perfect man, and able to bridle the whole body. For we put bits,” now he’s talking about words, right? “We put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body.” Now, you could take a 1,200-pound stud horse, and you could put a 60-pound, six-year-old girl on a 1,200 pound stud horse with a 6-inch bit in its mouth, and that 60-pound girl can control that entire stud horse by that bit in his mouth. So he says our words are like bit in a horse’s mouth. Do you know what, we used to raise horses when I was a child. You can stop a horse, you can back him up, you can turn him this way, turn him that way, by a bit in his mouth. He says, “Behold also the ships, though they be so great and are driven of fierce winds, yet they’re turned about with a very small helm wherever the governor lists.” So did you know what, boats, you just take a little rudder, and you can turn the entire boat around by a little rudder. You can take a great ship, and the captain of that great ship turns, right, the wheel, and the rudder turns, and you can turn that ship 360 degrees, you can turn it completely around long as it’s moving, praise God. That’s another thing about faith. If you’re gonna operate in faith, you’ve gotta keep moving towards your destiny. You gotta keep moving toward what you believe. God wants you to do what you believe. God wants you to have so on and so forth, where you believe God wants you to go. Now, he goes on and says this. “Even so, the tongue is a little member,” this is James chapter 3, verse 5, “and boasts great things. Behold, how great a manner a little fire kindles.” Did you know what, we had a fire here in the state of Colorado a few years back that burned hundreds of thousands of acres. And it was the largest forest fire on record until that time. Now, I think they’ve had some larger. But this person that, that fire was started with just a little spark. Did you know what, just a little spark will start a huge fire. And so he says our tongue, he goes on to say in verse 6, James 3, verse 6, “The tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity, so is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole body and sets on fire the course of nature.” You can change the course of nature by the words that you speak. And he says, “It’s set on the fire of hell.” You need to know that your tongue, your words, your words bless or your words curse. Your words bring blessing or your words bring cursing. And so we need to understand the power of the Word of God, of the spoken Word of God. And did you know what, the Word of God has power in our mouth. I’m gonna look at some scriptures that talk about this. In Joshua chapter 1, verse 8, the scripture says, “This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you will meditate therein both day and night that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein, for then you will have good success, then you will make your way of prosperous and you will have good success.” So this Word of God’s not gonna depart out of your mouth. But as you meditate the Word of God day and night, he says what, and observe to do according to all that is written therein. He says you will make your way prosperous, Joshua chapter 1, verse 8. You know who makes your way prosperous? You do when you act on, when you believe, speak, right, meditate, believe, speak, and act on the Word of God, it says you will make your way prosperous and you will have good success. Now, when we do that, did you know what, we’re not trying to manipulate God or anything like that, but we are actually made in the image of God, and God is a faith God. He operates by the same principles that he made man to operate by. And so in actually Romans chapter 4, verse 17 to verse 18, it’s talking about how faith works. And it says, “Speaking of Abraham, as it is written, I made you of father of many nations, before whom he believed even God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things that be not as though they were.” So God made Abram a father of many nations. And before God he believed. And God made him live and alive and called those iniquities, and he calls those things that be not as though they are. Now, the example that he’s using here when he’s talking about Abraham, he’s talking about how when Isaac came about. Did you know Abraham and Sarah, they tried to help God out and got Hagar, Sarah’s maid involved, made a huge mess, and then God said, no, your seed, that’s not gonna be your seed. Your seed’s gonna come forth of your body and Sarah’s womb, and you know, Abraham, man, how’s this gonna be? And God begin to speak, but God called, God said your name no longer is gonna be Abram. Your name’s gonna be Abraham. You can read about it in Genesis chapter 17. And it said for Sarah, her name’s no longer gonna be Sarai. Her name’s gonna be Sarah. You see, Abram means fatherly. Abraham means father of many nations. Sarai means princely. Sarah means mother of princes, praise God. So she became the mother of princes. Hallelujah. And what did God do? God said your name’s no longer gonna be Abram. Your name’s gonna be Abraham. And as far as Sarai, her name’s no longer gonna be Sarai. Her name’s gonna be Sarah. And so Abraham come down off the mountain, come down off praying with, spending time with God. And he began to say you call me Abraham. My name’s Abraham. I’m sure, you know, these guys are laughing. He’s a hundred years old. Sarah’s 89, almost 90. And they’re laughing thinking, my goodness, well, who’s he think he is? He never fathered anything. Now he’s calling himself a father of many nations. Well, about nine months later, praise God, Isaac was born. And you know who had the last laugh? God had the last laugh. Isaac means laughter. Now, when you look at this, it says, “God quickens the dead and calls those things that be not as though they were.” As far as Abraham and Sarah were concerned, did you know what, Sarah’s womb was dead. She was 89 going on 90 years old. Abraham, he was a hundred years old. And you know what? There was nothing happening. But guess what? They came together. And at the word of the Lord, they had a child supernaturally and his name was called Isaac. So here’s how faith really works. In fact, I’m gonna take a short break, and I’m gonna come back and tell you how faith works. So stay tuned. I’ll be right back after this break. Friends, this week, we’ve been sharing on faith in God will change your world. And I am so happy to be sharing with you this faith package. I have this book from my good friends, Mark Hankins, Mark and Trina Hankins, on “The Spirit of Faith.” We have “World Changing Faith,” one of my best series. We have “Four Keys to Faith.” And then finally we have, “Have Faith and Doubt Not.” These are some of my very, very best teachings on the realm of faith. And if you begin to understand faith, I believe it will literally change your life. It’s changed mine, praise God. It’s changed my financial position. It’s changed my spiritual condition. It’s changed my physical condition, and it’s all good. God wants to do good things in your life, and he does it through grace and faith. So if you wanna get this teaching, just give us a call today or check us out online. Thanks so much, and blessings. Praise the Lord, we’re talking about how faith works from Romans chapter 4. And the way that faith is released is through our words. And so we’re looking in Romans chapter 4, and he talks about Abraham and his relationship with God. And he talks about the promises of faith that it might be by grace that it would be secure to all to see. But he says before him whom he believed, even God who quickens gives life to the dead and calls those things that be not as though they are. So here’s what God does. It actually says as though they were. God will speak a word of life into a dead situation. He goes on down here and says that Abraham did not consider the deadness of his womb nor the deadness of his own body. The deadness of Sarah’s womb or the deadness of his own body. He didn’t consider the natural thing. He just considered what God said. So God spoke a word of life into a dead situation. And Abraham and Sarah believed that word. It says in verse 18, “Against hope,” Romans 4:18, they believed in hope. So when all natural hope was gone, they hoped in God that he might become the father of many nations according to that which was spoken. So shall thy seed be. Now, when he says, “That which was spoken, so shall thy seed be, actually the instance where God called his name Abraham and called those things that be not as though they were, was Genesis 17. But in Genesis 15, right about 20 years earlier, whatever that was, sometime between the time Abraham was 75 and 100, God spoke this word, and it maybe have been 10 years sooner, but in Genesis chapter 15, God took Abraham out and he showed him the stars of this heaven. And he said, “Your seed is gonna be like the stars of the heaven, innumerable.” In other words, what God was doing was putting a word picture on the inside of him. Did you know every one of you has a picture on the inside of you whether you realize it or not? And you are being compelled, you are being motivated, you’re being guided by that picture on the inside of you. And so if you can develop the picture on the inside of you, the picture on the inside of you has to get bigger than the picture on the outside of you, because if the picture on the inside of you doesn’t get bigger than the picture on the outside of you, the picture on the outside of you will never change. How do you change the picture on the inside of you? You change the picture on the inside by meditating the Word of God, by believing the Word of God, and by speaking the Word of God. So God came and spoke a word of life into a dead situation, right, and Abraham believed that word, meditate on that word, thought about that word. And it wasn’t very long until Sarah conceived. And they had a child when Sarah was 90, Abraham was 100. It looked like it was an impossible thing, but all things are possible with God, and all things are possible to those who believe. Now, it says against hope, when all natural hope was gone. You see, there in the natural, there was no hope. Sarah wasn’t even cycling. She probably wasn’t even having hot flashes. I mean, it was over. It was done. Abraham’s body, it was over physically speaking concerning having children, and yet supernaturally, God gave them a child, praise God. They believe what God said. They believe the word. See, I believe Abraham believed that word from 10 years or so sooner in Genesis 15 verse 6, when God took him and showed him the stars of heaven and said, listen, this is how your seed’s gonna be, innumerable, praise God. So he began to believe that as he believed that. Then when he was a hundred years old, Genesis 17, God spoke this other word into his life and said, now, he said, your name’s no longer gonna be Abram. Your name’s gonna be Abraham, for a father of many nations have I made you. Sarai’s name no longer gonna be Sarai. Her name’s gonna be Sarah. Now, it goes on to say this. So number one, God spoke a word of life into that dead situation. Number two, against hope, Abraham believed in hope that he might become the father of many nations, according to what God spoke. So he heard what God spoke. And then he began to say what God said. And then it says in verse 19, “He being not weak in faith considered not his own body now dead when he’s about a hundred, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb.” So he didn’t consider the opposing circumstances that were contrary with what God said. That’s why some people have such a hard time receiving from God, because all they’re doing is looking at the natural circumstances and the natural situations, and they’re just considering that. You’ve gotta consider the Word of God above the natural situation circumstance. You gotta consider the Word of God above the doctor’s report, the banker’s report, the attorney’s report, whatever. You’ve gotta consider the Word of God. So he considered not his own body now dead when he’s almost a hundred, neither deadness of Sarah’s womb. He did not stagger at the promise of God. He kept believing no matter what. He kept believing the promise of God. He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strong in faith and gave glory to God in verse 21 and says, “And being fully persuaded.” He was fully, not partially persuaded. He was fully persuaded that what God promised he had to perform, that he would perform. So it says, “Therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.” Now, what is righteousness? It’s right standing with God. And the Bible says that Abraham became righteous by faith. That he believed that word that God spoke in Genesis chapter 15, and because he believed that word, he received righteousness, which is by faith. So you receive right standing with God by faith. But once you receive righteousness, right standing with God becomes a foundation in your life to receive the blessing and the promises of God. So God spoke a word of life. Abraham believed that word above all things, right? He began to speak what God said. And he did not consider the natural situation. It says he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief. We have a whole series that I’ll teach during this faith month that we’re sharing, where I’m gonna talk on have faith and doubt not. Do you know it’s not the fact that you as a believer don’t have faith. It’s a lot of times you’re struggling with unbelief. And so we’ll talk about how to deal with unbelief and how to overcome unbelief so you can receive the promise of God, so that your faith can work. And it says, “But he was strong in faith, giving glory to God, and he was fully persuaded that what God promised, he was able to perform.” Listen, he was fully persuaded. Sometimes people, 10% persuaded, 5% persuaded, 20% persuaded, 30%. Abraham was a hundred percent persuaded. He was persuaded that what God, said he would do. Now, if you believe that, amen, I believe that you can receive that. And so here’s how faith works. God speaks a word of life into a dead situation. We choose to believe it. As we believe it, right, we begin to, along with God, speak the Word of God, right? We then don’t consider the natural circumstances that are contrary with what God said or God spoke, God promised, right, and then we continue, right? We continue. We choose not to believe, you see? Unbelief comes from focusing on circumstances that are contrary with the promise or the Word. Unbelief comes from religion, from wrong teaching, saying, well, I just don’t believe that’s possible. I don’t believe God does that anymore. Unbelief also comes from just a lack of knowledge, not knowing what God said. You see, the Bible actually says that my people were destroyed for a lack of knowledge. In Hosea 4:6 it says, “They’re kept in bondage because they have no knowledge.” So once you begin to understand what God said and who God is, then you can move into faith and begin to receive. So faith, hears the voice of God, speaks the word of God. You know, I heard this years ago from Brother Mark Hankins. The word that is spoken to you must be spoken through you. If you’re gonna possess what you believe God wants you to have, you’ve gotta begin to speak the Word of God out of your mouth. And as you do that, did you know, you can move into what God has for you. And so Abraham wasn’t weak in faith. He didn’t consider the natural situation. He considered just what God said, what the promise said. And it says he staggered not at the promise God through unbelief, he didn’t feed unbelief, right, through focusing on the negative circumstances through this just natural way of thinking apart from God or through lack of knowledge. He began to understand who God was and what he wanted to do. And it says, and he also, he says he was fully persuaded. He was completely 100% persuaded that what God promised, he was able to perform. Are you 100% persuaded today that Jesus is your savior, that Jesus is your healer, that Jesus is your deliverer, that Jesus is your peace, that Jesus is your provider? Are you 100% persuaded that the promises that God made you in Christ are available to you today? In fact, they’re yours as you receive them by faith.
