The Commanded Blessing

There are only two types of believers– those who are blessed and know it, and those who are blessed and don’t know it! If you believe in Jesus, you are completely blessed! You are not cursed! Jesus shed His blood on the cross to redeem you from every aspect of the curse, which includes sin, sickness, poverty, and death. You don’t have to chase the blessing, the blessing is chasing you! God has commanded His supernatural blessing on you and as you seek Him first, all these things will be added to you! The blessing of the LORD is chasing after you and will overtake you!

Commanded Blessing Transcript

Praise God, friends, I’m so glad that you tuned in today. We’re gonna be talking today about the commanded blessing, and specifically that the devil cannot stop the commanded blessing of God on your life. I don’t care who tries to curse you, Jesus broke the curse. And if you believe the gospel, you are blessed in him, and God wants you to receive all that he has for you. Friends, it’s so good to have you with us, and I’m glad Aaron’s here. We’re talking this week about the commanded blessing of God. And when you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you are blessed in the realm of the Spirit. And if you begin to understand it, really in the New Covenant, we live under the commanded blessing of the Lord. The challenge is there’s a lot of people in the body of Christ, they just don’t know what God’s given them, and they don’t understand these promises, but when you begin to understand, it’ll change your life.

And some people, they know the information, but it hasn’t come revelation to them yet. I grew up and I had a lot of information. I knew a lot of scripture. I had listened to a lot of good teaching, but it hadn’t quite become revelation. Sometimes people identify more with what’s going on around them, they identify more with what they’re feeling, they identify what other people are saying about them, but you have to have revelation. It has to become a reality to you deep down in your heart.

You need to identify with the gospel and it’ll help you no matter what you’re dealing with. I remember one time, Aaron, you were in college and you were studying the flute and you were getting your master’s, I believe, at that point in time. And you said, well, maybe you really didn’t feel blessed. But I said, well, just connect your life. Look at your life compared to your peers that were in the same thing and you had a car and you had money in the bank, you were taking everybody else around. You were doing things for them where a lot of them didn’t even have $15 in the bank. So when you begin to understand it and then shortly after that, you got a just a revelation of this.

A revelation of that commanded blessing will change your life. So a lot of people feel like they can just be attacked and the blessing can be stripped away from them. But when God blesses you and his commanded blessing is on you, there’s nothing anyone can do. There’s nothing the enemy can do to strip that away from you.

Yeah, a lot of people don’t realize that God is he wants you to operate in this blessing, but you gotta renew your mind with what the word says and we’re gonna go to an instance in Numbers 23. And what happens in Numbers is Balak, this foreign king hires Balaam a foreign prophet to come and curse the children of Israel because he’s afraid, actually. But when Balaam, this foreign prophet, who had had some success in prophesy and so on and so forth, and things he spoke coming to pass came, he did not curse them, but he blessed them three times and we’re gonna read this second blessing. And this is Numbers 23. First of all, it says in verse 16, the Lord, the self existent eternal God met Baalam and put a word in his mouth and he said, I want you to go tell Baalam this. And so he went and then when he went there, he began to speak this word. And Aaron, if you wanna read this Numbers 23 verse 19, and we’ll go through this between verse 19, clear to verse 23, but this is a powerful word. So this foreign king Balak hires Baalam as foreign prophet to curse the children of Israel. And he blesses him three times, this is the second one.

So it says here in verse 19, God is not a man that he should lie, nor a son a man that he should repent. Has he said, and will he not do or has he spoken and will he not make it good? If God says something, he means it. God doesn’t lie, God does not change. He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever. And that’s awesome, he doesn’t ever lie.

As we’re talking about that, we have the unchangeable word of an unchangeable God. And you can read about that in Hebrews chapter six. And he’s actually quoting, you know what, God spoke to Abraham in Genesis chapter 22, that in blessing, I’m gonna bless you. In multiplying, I’m gonna multiply you. And it’s not conditional on anybody else. And when a word goes out of God’s mouth, that word goes into eternity and that word produces fruit. Hebrews one, verse three says that he upholds all things by the word of his power. Second Peter, chapter three says, by the word of the Lord, the heavens were of old and the earth. God created everything with his word, and God keeps everything in store with his word. And it is impossible for God to lie. Well, when God says something, he does it.

Amen, so going on here, it says in verse 20, behold, I have received a command to bless. He is blessed and I cannot reverse it. So Balaam’s saying that he heard from the Lord and the Lord said that you are commanded to bless them. That’s awesome, the commanded blessing is on your life as a believer. So that means that a curse has no effect on you. Some people are worried like if someone speaks a curse against them or if man, when we have nothing to fear, we don’t need to need to be afraid of people who speak evil of us, who speak curses over us. It does not affect the blessing of the Lord on you.

  Has no power.

We’ve had people come and curse us. We’ve said things on the conservative side of things and just had… We’ve literally had hundreds of people call us here at the church just speaking curses, cussing, saying they wanna speaking threats, just breathing threats. It remind me of the First Century Church as people were just breathing threats. Like, we’re gonna come and kill you, like–

  Kill your children.

  It’s just awful things.

These people, because we had a conservative political person speak at a conference that we had at the church, and–

The liberal media just blew it up.

Oh, they just exploded and they went nuts. And this person made a joke. And then we get all these threats from these liberal people about killing us and all these things.

  All these curses were spoken.

And you know what? They’re making a joke. Get over your bad self.

But it was crazy, but that does not stop the blessing of the Lord. Behold, I received a command to bless, he has blessed it and I cannot reverse it. He has not observed iniquity in Jacob, nor has he seen wickedness in Israel. The Lord, his God is with him in the shout of a king is among them. This is actually taught kind of a prophecy of Jesus.

  It really is.

It’s a prophecy of us as believers, that God does not observe iniquity in us. When God looks at us, he’s looking at us just as we are our righteous in Jesus.

He sees us sanctified, justified, righteous, holy, blameless. That’s how God sees us. If you read Ephesians chapter one, verse three through verse seven, and see there’s like seven different things, he sees you holy and without blame. And then Colossians chapter one, verse 22 to verse 24, it’s talking about he made us holy by his blood. Read Galatians, we read this at the first of the week in the broadcast, chapter three, verse nine or verse eight through verse 14, he sees us as justified, as righteous, as blessed. When you begin to understand this, it revolutionizes your life. So he is not looking at all of our sin. He is not looking at all of our faults. He is not looking at all of our failures. He sees us through the blood of Jesus. Man, this is just amazing. So many people are worried about what this person and that person and the other person says. Listen, it doesn’t matter what they say. What matters is what God says about you. Another person’s head is the wrong place to have your happiness.

And I love that, it says the shot of a king is among them that’s talking about Jesus. There is a king among us, the king of kings is among us. Verse 22, God brings them out of Egypt. Egypt was called the house of bondage. God wants to free you. He doesn’t wanna just set you free. He wants to make you free. Take you outta the house of bondage and remove you from it so you never go back to that bondage again. He has strength like a wild ox, for there is no sorcery against Jacob nor any divination against Israel. He’s saying there is no way to curse them. There is no way to stir a pot of this junk against them.

Listen, it’s not gonna work. It’s not gonna stop me. It’s not gonna affect me. I’ve got a good friend and he says these Christians that think they’re cursed a lot of times that stuff messes with them. But when you know that you’re blessed and you are not cursed, that Jesus took the curse, and this says it right here. If this worked in the Old Testament, how much better should it be working in the New Testament? And so God, hallelujah, has blessed us. He is not cursing us. You know what, this foreign prophet Balaam said, I have received commandment to bless and he has blessed, and I cannot reverse it. Listen, I don’t believe that the devil can reverse the blessing of God that’s on our life, amen.

This kind of reminds me growing up here in Colorado, I have two younger brothers, we’re all two years apart, but the three of us actually had the same high school English teacher. I think it was our junior year, we all had the same English teacher, and he wasn’t a believer, but years after we graduated from high school, he said this, I don’t know if it was to you or to one of my brothers, but he said I didn’t really like him, but there’s just something in me. I just couldn’t help but like them. So he was saying that, man, there’s just something in us that he just wanted to bless.

It’s the favor of God. Man, when God puts his favor, did you know Nehemiah prayed not only for favor with God, he prayed for favor with the worldly king, and he received favor. And we don’t only have favor with God, we have favor with people. The Bible says that Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.

God can cause your enemies to bless you. What a switch up there, like when the Israelites were leaving Egypt, the Egyptians were their oppressors, they were their slave masters. They were pretty rotten to ’em. But God gave the Israelites supernatural favor. So much so that they just gave them their jewelry, their clothing, their silver, their gold. It was a supernatural favor thing. They just felt compelled to do this and that’s how they plundered the Egyptians.

Amen, the Bible actually says this. It says that when a man’s ways, please the Lord God makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. Aaron, when I moved into my neighborhood, it was the men’s fellowship that were helping move me in and the neighbor next door said, what’s happening? He said, we’re moving in our pastor. And he just said, well, I don’t like pastors. And you know what? I’ve got so much favor with this man. And I know God sent me to him to be a witness in a testimony to him and his life is moving towards the good. I’ve been a good testimony, praise God. So, you know what, you can call in, we’re gonna have a short break in just a few seconds, and we’ll be back after this break, and we’re going to continue to talk about this commanded blessing and how the devil can’t reverse it. You can call in and we’d love to hear from you. Thank you so much for being a part of the broadcast. Friends, we’ve been teaching from my series, the Blessing of the Lord and my son Aaron’s teaching on the commanded blessing. You can get these and hundreds of hours more absolutely free of charge, downloadable in audio and video on the website at charischristiancenter.com. Get ahold of this truth, blessings.

The sermons are so rich, there’s so much scripture and there’s so much depth to what’s being taught here.

I’m really eager to learn more about the Bible, and I really like going to hear Aaron on Wednesdays. He delves into scriptures and really wraps his mind around it.

We love all four pastors. Each has a different kind of calling on their life I feel.

Friends, I’m so glad you stayed with us. We’re gonna be continuing to share on the commanded blessing of the Lord. And you know what, this scripture Aaron’s gonna be sharing from during this half of the broadcast is something actually God spoke to me recently and God said, listen, I’ve blessed you and you know what, it doesn’t matter. He spoke to me and said, if I have to take the ravens and feed you, I am gonna take care of you.

  That’s awesome.

And I know years ago I went to this church and I was ministering there, I was traveling there on the way to the mission field, and then their pastor left and they asked me to speak and they brought mom and you boys down there, but the pastor’s wife, he had pastored it for years. This is a large church. They had their own television station and stuff, and they wanted us to do a psychological test. She was a clinical psychologist. And so she took a test on me and she said, one thing that I had struggled with is because my dad died when I was young, I struggled and I was a little bit too focused, the area of finances. And I felt like this test that she took was actually very accurate. But you know what? It’s the gospel that frees you from whatever you’re struggling with, if you’ll just believe the gospel, if you’ll believe the word of God. And Aaron, I want you to go ahead and share here in First Kings chapter 17. But if you’re struggling with poverty, if you’re struggling with anxiety, if you’re struggling with any type of curse, then just start believing what God says about you.

I just heard something that one of our friends, Mark Hankins said, he said, the blood of Jesus has the power to change you. It has the power to reach down and touch your conscious. It actually has the power to reach down and even touch your personality. Just touch you from the inside out, from your spirit, through your soul, through your emotions, through your mind.

Aaron, it’s changed me, and I’ve got a revelation of these things. And there’s people that even some of my good friends would say really negative things about me in the area of finances and those same people have changed their confession and what they say about me today is completely different. But it’s because you know what? I renewed my mind in the word of God. And I went to some of these scriptures that we talked about in the Covenant of Blessing this week, Deuteronomy 28, one through 14, Psalm 1:12 and Psalm 1:15 and I prayed those for like three months, three to six months every day. And when I prayed ’em, it revolutionized the way that I thought.

And I love that we’re talking about the commanded blessing. The commanded blessing, it’s not dependent upon what people think about you, what circumstances you’re facing. You might be facing a very difficult circumstance, maybe in your health, maybe in your finances, maybe relationally, but the commanded blessing, it’s greater than all those things. It’s not dependent upon your circumstances. Actually, it’s greater than that.

It’s just dependent on you and your personal relationship with Jesus and his grace.

We can really see that here in the life of Elijah. Elijah was hated by a lot of people. The king and queen wanted to kill him. There’s a great famine going on. He could have starved, like a lot of people were starving, but God told him that there was a commanded blessing on him. God said, I’m gonna take care of you. I’m gonna command just to take care of you and work out for you. So we’re gonna read in First King 17. It said, Elijah, the Tishbite of the inhabitants of Gilead said to Ahab as the Lord God of Israel lives before whom I stand, there shall not be due nor rain these years except at my word. So there’d be a complete drought for three and a half years, not a single drop of rain. Can you imagine that? Not a single drop of rain. I’ve been to some desert locations before, but I’ve never been anywhere where it wasn’t a drop of rain for three and a half years. So the word of the Lord came to him saying, get away from here and turn eastward, hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. And it will be that you will have drink from the brook and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there. So he went and did, according to the word of the Lord, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening and he drank from the brook. So he had water and these ravens, which aren’t very nice birds, these big ugly black birds that are usually actually like in literature, they’re symbolic of death usually. But he’s saying, these things are gonna bring you bread and even meat, morning and night.

I have written right here, Aaron, God just spoke this to me recently. I mean, we recently just took this our ministry as broadcasting to a whole new level. We went on Daystar three days a week. Our broadcasting budget just for the cost of the television without the production is like a million dollars a year now, including what we pay on Daystar and the other networks that they’re on. And you know what? I’m at a completely different place in my life and God just… I really felt like this is what God wanted me to do. And God really just spoke to me this word that there is provision for the vision. And he spoke to me, this word in verse four, I have commanded the ravens to feed you there. And he said, Lawson, I’m gonna take care of you. You have to realize where I came from. My dad was an epileptic. He could only work on the farm. He didn’t make very much money for his family. We lived in a trailer house. We drove cars with hundreds of thousands of miles. My mom was a school teacher. They were never high income, but now, when we got in into the full gospel and first heard Andrew Wommack, my parents started believing and things began to get better. But still, we came from really challenging things financially and I started believing that when I was 14 and there was really different aspects of it. First of all, I understood it was God’s will for me to prosper. I understood that like immediately when I was 14, when I got baptized in the Holy Spirit in Andrew Wommack’s teaching meetings, he had a little Bible study, almost nobody knew who he was. And I understood this is God’s will for you to prosper. But then it had to go to the time that I began to realize that you know what, not only is it God’s will for me to prosper, but then you know what, he is the one who prospers me. And I changed my mentality and that took a period of time. And it was actually 19… What was it, 19, about 94 that I really got a revelation. Mom and I had been married 10 years that what I can believe God for finances, just like I can believe God for health or peace or any other promise in the scripture, forgiveness of sin. I can believe God for blessing and for increase. And then it wasn’t till 1998, so 1978, when I was baptized in the Holy Spirit, I got a revelation that God wants me to prosper. Then in 1994, this is 16 years later, that’s the same year I got a revelation of grace, but I got this revelation that I can believe God for specific amounts of money, just like I can believe God for my physical health, for peace, for forgiveness of sin, any of the promises of God. And then in 1998, I went to some meetings in Billy Eberhardt’s church in Denver, Colorado. And Mark Hankins was speaking. Ultimately, Mark said some things that made me mad and then the Lord just spoke to me. It was my religion that got mad. And the Lord spoke to me and said, he is right and you’re wrong and you need to get over it. And I begin to take the limits off God. And so it was really those three things. Number one, God wants you to prosper. Number two, and this came 16 years later that not only God wants me to prosper, but I can believe God for specific amounts of money. And then number three, that I can take the limits off God. That came 20 years after I got that. And those three aspects of revelation really brought me into prosperity to a whole new level. But recently this is far beyond that. I’ve just come to a new place and I just felt like this is God’s will and I’m gonna go for it. And God just said, hey, if I have to bring the ravens to feed you, I’m taking care of you.

Well, part of that commanded blessing too is being able to hear the voice of God and go where he tells you to go. God spoke to Elijah and told us specifically what to do and where to go. You were to go to that brook chair, and I’m gonna command Ravens to feed you there. And then eventually it said the brook dried up in verse seven. It happened after a while that the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land. Just sometimes things just change. Sometimes one strain might just dry up, but that’s not gonna change the blessing, that commanded blessing that’s on you. Sometimes some people go through a shift in life, maybe an industry changes and people are laid off. Just things shift. But that shifting doesn’t change the commanded blessing of the Lord on your life. So keep listening to God when there’s a shifting going on. be listening to God. I remember when I was in school, I was making money doing one thing, and I could tell it was starting to dry up and I remember talking to my mom and my mom said if the brook dries up, God has a plan. And God had a plan. Verse eight, for Elijah said, the word of the Lord came to him saying, arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you. And to Elijah, this might have seemed rather strange to go to Sidon. Sidon was actually the capital where Jezebel was from, it was the capital of Baal worship. So God’s telling Elijah to go right into the enemy territory where Jezebel, who’s trying to kill him right into her hometown, where they worship Baal and a there’s a famine going on. And God said, I’ve commanded a widow.

God will use unusual people. Aaron, I’ve had people that are powerful to have a lot of money and different things leave and do different things and even God showed me before this happened and it’s kind of upsetting, but yet at the same time, God will use the most unusual people and he’ll bring blessing like you’ve never experienced or never had in your life. And since I’ve made this decision, like to just go all out and do what God wants me to do, no matter what. Did you know what, it’s evident to me that you know what? God is in this decision and God is helping us and just supernatural things. And God’s using the most unusual people to help us accomplish what he’s called us to do. And this woman, I mean, she’s going to get a couple of sticks, get her last oil, her last meal, and cook a cake and die. And Elijah, this prophet has the audacity to tell this woman, feed me first for he said, your barrel of meal will not waste and your jar of oil will not fail till the day that God brings rain in Israel. And you know what? If you’ll put God first, if you’ll honor God first, if you’ll give to him first. There’s a lot of people that have a lot and then they don’t do that much, but sometimes God uses these people that just don’t have a lot and ultimately it becomes a tremendous blessing to them. I believe there’s an anointing of increase in this ministry and on this ministry and I believe that if you’ll pray about it, if God wants you to get connected with us in sowing seed, in seed time and harvest and become a partner, I believe that God will bring much more increase to you than you give. That’s how seed works.

Just trust God and just go for it. God just spoke to me recently from scripture that we shouldn’t grow weary in doing good and that’s actually talking about giving. And sometimes you just gotta go for it. Do what God tells you to do, go for it and he’ll make things work out on your behalf.
