Romans Part 11 Transcript

Praise the Lord, friends. We’re gonna answer the question today, does God have a plan for the Jewish people? Will there be a great revival in the nation of Israel and of the Israeli people around the world? The Bible has the answer, and I know a lot of people are saying a lot of different things, and a lot of them have no foundation in the Word of God. So, let’s see what the Scripture talks about. Blessings. Praise the Lord, friends. We are in the Word of God. We’re in Romans 11. I have a question for you. Has God washed His hands of the Jewish people? There’s a lot of people in the church that say that God is done with Israel, but that is not the truth according to the Scriptures. In fact, Paul makes a statement and tells us why the Jews actually, as a whole, when Christ came, rejected Him. In Romans 11:15, he says, “If the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be but life from the dead?” In other words, if you study Romans 11, and you really understand what the Scripture says, you begin to understand that there is gonna be a great revival in the last days, not only in the Gentile nations, but in the Jewish nations, in the Middle East. Aaron, yesterday you talked about how there’s been a great revival in the Arab nations.

Mm-hm.

And actually, I remember you were in a prophetic meeting a couple of years ago, and you said there is gonna be a revival in the Arab nations. And boy, you’ve been dead on. And there’s actually thousands and thousands of people coming to Christ in these Muslim nations, and they’re leaving Islam and coming to Christ. Marvelous revival of the Spirit of God. Now, if we go to Chapter 11, Romans 11:1, Paul answered this question, “Has God cast away His people?” He says, “God forbid, for I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God has not cast away His people.” So Paul’s telling us, and people wanna believe sometimes what they believe no matter what the Scripture says: “Which he foreknew. Don’t you know what the scripture says of Elijah, how he made intercession to God against Israel, saying, ‘Lord, they have killed thy prophets, dug down their altars, and I am left alone, and they seek my life.’ But is the answer of God to him? ‘I have reserved to myself 7,000 men who have not bowed their knee to the image of Baal.’ So to the present time, there is a remnant according to the election of grace.” In other words, he said there’s gonna be a revival in the Jewish nation, praise God.

I like that he says Elijah as an example. And he’s just thinking that he was it, but God said there’s thousands more. So there’s a lot more out there than what you think.

Amen. A lot of times, the Devil, he’ll lie to people and say, “You’re the only one that’s got this problem. There’s nobody like you.” But the scripture says that there’s no temptation taking you but such as common to man, and God is faithful, who will with that temptation make a way of escape.” He’s already actually made it in the person of Jesus.

I think there’s even revival happening amongst Jewish people today. When I went to Rice University for grad school, there was a professor there in the chemistry department, a really famous professor who was Jewish, but he had an encounter with Jesus and got saved. And he’s a huge evangelist there on campus for Jesus, and I’ve seen him share his testimony. For a long part of his life, his mother hated him, that he had accepted Jesus. But later on, she was reading the Bible, and she got saved herself. So I believe that there’s already people, Jewish people, people of that faith that are coming to know Jesus as the true Messiah.

Amen, praise God. And what does he teach?

His name’s James Tour, T-O-U-R. He’s a very famous scientist, chemistry and kind of computer science kind of combined. He actually won an award, like scientist of the year. He’s very famous, and he brings a lot of Christian speakers to campus. It’s actually a very liberal, very anti-Christ type environment. And he arranges for world-famous Christian speakers and apologists to come to campus and to speak. And he even puts scriptures on the tests he gives his students, and you know, he-

Hallelujah.

He teaches a Sunday school class at the church he goes to, and he invites his students to come to that church, come to his class, and then he invites ’em all to lunch. So he has 50 Rice students at his house every Sunday after church for lunch. He’ll give ’em all free lunch.

Tremendous man of God, you know.

And I think his wife is actually Arabic. I think she’s from Pakistan, originally, and is a believer and this really neat person.

You know, here’s something. There are so many Christians, they’re trying to keep their kids out of public schools, keep their kids out of secular universities, thinking they’re gonna all go to hell with the world. And listen, I sent all mine to secular universities. Now, we did get ’em in good, conservative public schools when they were going to school, but you need to do what God called you to do. But they’re so afraid of the world. The problem isn’t a lot of times that we’re, the church, is in the world. The problem is we got too much of the world in the church. And you went to Carnegie Mellon University. You went to Rice University. You got your undergrad, your master’s, your doctorate. You were blessed, and you never left your faith.

Yeah, I think the reason why some people get off is because if you’re going to college to try to find yourself, you’re gonna lose yourself. If you’re going to the world to try to find yourself, you’re gonna lose yourself. You’re gonna get screwed up. You have to find yourself in Jesus.

Amen.

And then when you go out to get an education or go to work, you can go in different environments because you know who you are, and you’re just going to that school for a mission. I want to become the best engineer or the best doctor, the best lawyer, the best teacher, the best welder. That’s why I’m going to school. I’m not going there to try to find myself.

Amen, praise God. Find yourself in the Word of God. Find yourself in Christ, if any man is in Christ. The challenge with people who say that they’ve lost their faith as a result of these schools is probably they never had any. They were never truly born again.

Mm-hm.

And if you really understand the scripture, you know that, There’s been some studies that 90% of Christians lose their faith when they go to college. They never had faith. No 90% of anybody loses their faith. That is just a pure lie. That is not the gospel. And if you’re born again, and Jesus lives in you, you’ve gotta reject Jesus to lose that, and it is not a simple thing to do. And I’m not gonna talk about that right now ’cause we don’t have enough time. Let’s jump on into Romans 11:6, what a powerful verse. He says, “If it’s by grace,” he’s talking about salvation, “then it’s no more by works. Otherwise grace is no more by grace or works. Then it’s no more by grace. Otherwise work is no more work.” You are saved by grace, period, and you can’t do anything to improve on what Jesus has done for you. Man, it’s Jesus plus nothing that saves you. “What’s he say then? Israel has not obtained that what he seeks for, but the election obtained it, and the rest were blinded. According as it has written, ‘God gave them a spirit of slumber, eyes that they would not see, ears that they should not hear to this day.’ And David said, ‘Let their table be made a snare, a trap, a stumbling block, and a repayment to them. Let their eyes be darkened that they may not see, bow down their back always.’ I say have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid.” In other words, if religious people haven’t believed yet, it’s not God that doesn’t want ’em to be saved. “But rather through their fall, salvation has come to other people, to unbelievers, to Gentiles, to provoke them to jealousy.” Again, he uses that term that he uses at the end of Romans 10, that when Gentiles get saved, it provokes the Jews to jealousy. “For if the fall of them be the riches of the world, the diminishing of them, the riches of the Gentiles, how much more their fullness. For I speak to you Gentiles. As much as I’m an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my office if by any means I might provoke to envy those who are my flesh, the Jews, and might save some of them. For if the casting away of them be the saving of the world, what shall the receiving of them be but life from the dead?” Now he begins to talk about the firstfruit, and he begins to talk about this olive tree: “And if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is holy. The root be holy. So are the branches.” So Jesus is the root. He says, “I am the vine. You’re the branches,” in John 15. “Anybody abides in me is gonna bring forth much fruit.” He says, “And if some of the branches are broken off, you,” speaking to the Gentiles,” “being a wild olive tree were grafted into them, partakers with them of the root and fatness of the olive tree.” Man, when we get saved as Gentiles, we get the benefits of the covenant that God made with the Jews. You know, one thing the Jews have right, they have a mentality. We are the covenant people of God, and we are blessed by the Most High God. And because of that, you put a Jewish person about anywhere on the planet, little bit, they own everything because they got that mentality. Well, we, as the people of God, those of us who have believed, even Gentiles, oughta take that same mentality. I’m the covenant person of God, and I’m blessed by the Most High God. Now he says when you receive this blessing, “Do not boast against the branches. But if you boast, you not bearing the root, but the root you, you will say then, ‘The branches were broken off that I might be grafted in.’ Well, because of unbelief,” again we hear this. We talked about this in Romans 9. “Because of unbelief they were broken off.” So people that are not saved, it’s because of their unbelief. God loves faith, and He hates unbelief. He said, “And you stand by faith. Be not high-minded, but fear, for if God spared not the natural branches,” he’s talking about natural Israel, “take heed lest He spare not you Gentiles who’ve been saved. Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God, on those who fell, severity, but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you’ll be cut off.” So continue in the goodness of God. Continue in the good things Jesus has done for you. “And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in.” In other words, you can leave unbelief, and you can believe. You don’t have to stay in unbelief. “For God is able to save them, graft them in again. But you, if you were cut out of a wild olive tree, which is wild by nature and grafted into a good olive tree, how much more shall these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?” He’s talking about Jews being saved as a result of revival in the last days on the Earth. So we need to understand that. Praise God.

I love that. I love that picture that Paul uses talking about the olive branch and the wild olive branch being grafted in. Before I got married, it was just me and my dog. I have a full-bred Scottish terrier named Winston. And when I got married, my wife, she had a stray she picked up in Tennessee. He’s probably a miniature pincher. He’s a little wild because he was a stray, and she just brought him into her home. But when we got married, Willy got grafted into my household. So even though he’s wild, he’s not a purebred like my original dog, he’s still very much part of the family.

It’s funny because he’s become a lot better dog being around Winston, your Scottish terrier. Winston’s one of the best dogs I’ve ever seen. I love dogs. But Winston’s a very well-behaved, very well-mannered dog. And Willy’s actually got a lot better living around Willy, or Willy’s got a lot better living around Winston. So you can learn, the Bible says this. You don’t have to let your environment determine who you are, but you can learn from being around good people. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:33 that, “Be not deceived. Evil communications corrupt good manners.” And he says in verse 34, “Wake up to righteousness and do not sin.”

And I love as a Gentile believers or non-Jewish believers, we’ve been grafted in. So all of the revelation that the patriarchs, that the prophets, that Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, all that revelation they received, it now becomes revelation unto us, and all the promises that they received, they’re promises that are available to us through Jesus. So if you see a promise from God in the Old Testament, it’s available to you as a believer in Jesus, for all the promises of God are yes and amen through Jesus.

Amen, to the glory of God by us. God gets glory when we walk in the promises, not just sit on the premises. Now he goes on, and he talks about God has this covenant with Israel. God is not breaking His promise to anybody. All the promises of God are yes and amen, praise God, 2 Corinthians 1:20. He says, “For I would not, brethren, that you be ignorant of this mystery, lest you be wise in your own conceits, that blindness happened to Israel till the fullness of the Gentiles come in. And so all of Israel shall be saved. It is written.” There’s gonna be a great revival in the last days in Israel. If I’m reading the scripture right in the Book of Revelation, there will be angels that fly through the air and preach the gospel. There will be 144,000 Jewish evangelists that go and share the gospel. So that’s a lot of evangelism.

Well, and according to prophetic scripture, when Christ comes again, He’s gonna come, His feet are gonna touch on the Mount of Olives.

Yeah.

Right there in Jerusalem. And the Bible says that actually the mountain will split in two. It’s gonna be such a,

Praise God, He’s gonna walk across the Valley of Jehoshaphat He’s gonna blow open the Eastern Gate. He’s gonna sit down on the Temple Mount. And He is gonna reign for 1,000 years of peace on the Earth. Thank God we have faith in Jesus. Man, we have hope because of Jesus. I don’t care what’s going on in the world. And so he says, “Oh, the depth of this wisdom.” Actually I gotta go back up. He says, “This is my covenant to them,” in verse 27, “when I take away their sins. Concerning the gospel, they’re enemies for your sake, but as touching the election, they’re beloved for the Father’s sake. For the gifts and callings of God are without repentance.” Man, some people think that I have sinned, and I’ve committed the unpardonable sin, and there’s no hope for me. Listen, if you want Jesus, there’s hope for you. Praise God.

That’s awesome.

If the Holy Spirit’s dealing with your heart, there’s hope for you. You haven’t committed the unpardonable sin if you want Jesus, if the Holy Spirit’s dealing with your heart. Or otherwise, the Holy Spirit wouldn’t be dealing with your heart. I don’t believe somebody who’s committed the unpardonable sin, they don’t want it. They’re not gonna have that sense of the Holy Spirit dealing with them. And so he says, “For as in time past, you did not believe God. Yet now you’ve obtained mercy through their unbelief.” He’s talking to the Gentiles now. And he said in times past, the Gentiles didn’t believe, but because the Jews rejected Jesus, the Gentiles have now come in. When Jesus came, in the Gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, He told his disciples as a whole, “Don’t go to any of the Gentiles. Only go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” And then the Jews as a whole crucified Him and hung Him on the cross. And then He came back and said, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” And so He changed. But really if you study John 1, it says in John 1:11, I believe it is: “He came to His own, and His own received Him not.” But then verse 12 says: “To as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to those who believe on His name.” So the Jews rejected Jesus so the Gentiles could come in, but in these last days, He’s gonna save the Jews. There’s gonna be a great revival.

That’s awesome. Well, I think we’re gonna take a brief break right now. So stay tuned in. We’re gonna see just in a few moments.

Friends, I’ve been been teaching from my series on “Romans: The Revelation of Righteousness.” Romans is actually my favorite book of the Bible, and I teach this class. I’ve been teaching it for years at Charis Bible College in Woodland Park with Andrew Wommack. And so I’m teaching about the gospel is the revelation of righteousness. You wanna get a hold of this. I have a book on it. I also have a four-CD mini teaching on it. And then most recently, we’ve done the 16-teaching USB that you can get just as we’ve been teaching it here on television. And so you wanna get a hold of this revelation. If you get a hold of this revelation, it will change your life. So, “Romans: The Revelation of Righteousness.” Thanks so much for being with us today. I’m sure that you’ll enjoy this great teaching, and you’ll wanna share it with your friends. Blessings. We appreciate you. Praise the Lord, friends. I’m so glad that you stayed tuned. We’ve been teaching from Romans 11 on God’s plan of righteousness for the Jews and Gentiles, and you know what? God wants to save everybody. He doesn’t wanna leave anybody out. And he asked this question in verse one and said, “Has God cast away His people?” There are many people in the church teach that God has washed His hands of the Jewish people. But he says right here, Romans 11, you can’t get any more New Testament than the Book of Romans. And he says, “God forbid.” He says, “For I’m an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.” And he goes on and tells us the purpose that the Jews as a whole rejected Jesus, in verse 15, was the casting away of them, speaking of the Jews, be the reconciling of the world or the Gentiles. He says, “The receiving of them will be life from the dead.” There’s gonna be a great revival. You talked about how there’s a great revival in the Middle East, and many, many Muslims are coming to Christ. And I believe that’s gonna spill over to the Jews. And in these last days, we’re gonna see many, many Jews saved and come to Jesus.

Amen.

So he basically, We were down to verse 30, and he basically says, “As in time past,” speaking to the Gentiles, “you did not believe God, but now you’ve obtained mercy through their unbelief,” through the Jews’ unbelief. He says, “Even so have these now not believed that through their mercy, you might obtain mercy. God has concluded them all in unbelief that He have might have mercy on all.” Here is God’s purpose. There is a purpose in all this, and that is that the world would be saved. And he says in verse 33 through verse 36, “This is the wisdom of God.” Aaron, why don’t you read verse 33 to verse 36 and make a few comments.

It says, “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God. How unsearchable are His judgements and His ways past finding out, for who has known the mind of the Lord or who has become His counselor. Or who hath first given to Him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever and ever, amen.” I think that as Paul was writing this, he was actually writing just with great excitement. He was thinking about Jesus coming to the Jewish people, about now Gentiles being saved. Now he’s thinking about this great revival that’s gonna happen with the Jewish people. As Paul is just thinking about this, about thinking about God’s plan of salvation for the Jewish people, for the Gentile people, and coming back to the Jewish people, he got really excited. He was just saying, “Oh, the depth and the riches both of the wisdom.” He was really excited just thinking about God’s plan of salvation, about God’s plan for revival. I believe that that really got Paul excited as he was just thinking about it and writing about this.

Amen. And so basically he’s saying God’s gonna save the whole world. This is God’s plan. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but receive eternal life. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a Jew or whether you’re a Gentile. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a boy or a girl or man or woman. Whoever calls on the name of the Lord’s gonna be saved. And he basically says these Jews or religious people as a whole sometimes reject Jesus, but it’s so that unbelievers could be grafted in, they could be saved. And we as Gentiles have received the goodness of the covenant and the goodness because of what the Jews rejected. But now in the last days, He’s not gonna throw the Jews away. There’s gonna be a great revival among the Jewish nation and many Jews. We have a family that’s visiting right now from Israel, and their dad actually comes to our church, and he used to be, he was a Baptist minister. And he spent a lot of his life ministering.

16 years he lived in Israel.

In Israel, praise God. He loves God. And here’s a guy who’s a Baptist coming to a Pentecostal church.

Yeah, and he lived in Israel for 16 years. He has three children. So one of his children, her and her whole family come to church here. Actually, this Baptist minister you’re talking about, his granddaughter actually works here at church. If you call for prayer, there’s a good chance you might actually talk to her. Her name’s Lydia. And Lydia actually, we’ve had a conversation. She loves Israel ’cause her dad was there, but I think it’s kind neat actually that her grandpa who lived 16 years in Israel, like one of his sons actually lives full-time in Israel. His son married a Christian woman there in Israel who is an Israeli citizen. And so he lives there now, and he has children that are actually serving in the Israeli military and the IDF, the Israeli Defense Forces. So I think it’s just really neat that this grandfather who’s had this love for Israel spent 16 years of his life there. But now he has grandchildren that are serving in the Israeli military. Like, just talk about investment into his ministry, into that nation.

Yeah, and I remember when his daughter Eliza first came to church. I didn’t know her from anybody, but she came up and asked me, “What do you think about Israel?” Man, I went off just like I’ve been going off. I said, “Look in the Book of Romans right here.”

Yeah, God has a plan.

For Jews and Gentiles, Romans 9, 10, 11. And you know what, God didn’t write that for nothing. There’s a reason. And basically what he’s saying is God has a plan of righteousness for Jews and Gentiles, and it’s faith in Jesus. And when you put your faith in Jesus, you’re gonna be saved. You’re gonna become a child of God. And as a child of God, you have a right to all the promises of God, to all the blessings of God. “The same God over all,” Romans 10:12, “is rich unto all those who call upon Him.” So if you call upon Jesus, you don’t need to be ashamed. Praise God, God will be merciful to you, gracious to you. He’s rich to all who call upon Him. It’s a wonderful thing. Praise God. Faith in Jesus will change your life.

Mm-hm.

Praise God.

It’s true.

Aaron, share something.

Yeah, faith in Jesus will change your life. I love just this last verse that Paul shares here in Romans 11. Verse 36 says, “For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things. And to Him be glory forever and ever, amen.” I think just Paul, just thinking about, he kind of started off just kind of expressing his heart for the Jewish people just a few chapters before just saying, “I care for them so much, I’d be willing to be accursed that they might receive Jesus.” And now he’s just thinking that God wants them to receive Jesus. God has a plan of salvation. He was just so excited about thinking about it, that God still has a plan of salvation for them. Even though they initially rejected Him, God, He’s so rich in mercy.

Amen, and that is for somebody today. You may have initially rejected Jesus, but I am here to tell you that God desires a relationship with you, and God wants you to know Him. He wants you to come into a personal intimate relationship with Him, and He has already paid the price through Jesus, His Son. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:19 that God was in Christ not imputing, not keeping track. You may have lived a very sinful and rebellious life, but God did not impute your sin to you. He didn’t lay it to your account. And all you need to do to receive His righteousness, right standing with God, is just believe on Jesus.

That’s awesome.

Man, if you’ll give up and believe, God will change your life. And you’ve got lot of good things to come when you surrender to Jesus. So surrender today. Amen, Jesus is amazing.
