Romans Part 15 Transcription

Praise the Lord, friends. I am so glad that you’re connected with me today. I’m here with my son, Aaron. We’re gonna be teaching on Romans chapter 15 and we’re gonna talk about true ministry. Paul says in verse 19, “I have preached the gospel through mighty signs and wonders by the power of the spirit.” I have fully preached the gospel, From Illyricum to Jerusalem, from the western end to the eastern end, of the Roman Empire. You don’t fully preach the gospel until you demonstrate in the power of the spirit. So open your heart and receive the word today. Friends, we are here in Romans chapter 15 and we’re gonna talk about some great truths from the scripture. Aaron, I’m gonna ask you to begin reading Romans chapter 15, verse one through verse five.

Yes, as we then that are strong, ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves. Let everyone of us place his neighbor for his good to edification. For even Christ, please not himself, but as it is written, there were approaches of them that reproached the fell on me. For whatsoever things were written a four time were written for our learning, that we, through patients and comfort of the scriptures, might have hope. Now, the God of patients and consolation grant you to be like-minded, one toward another, according to Christ Jesus.

So Paul begins with this attitude and he says, “We who are strong ought to bear the infirmities “of the weak.” And, you know, a lot of times we judge ourselves by our intentions and we judge others by their actions. And if you turn that thing around on you and use it a little bit, you wouldn’t be acting that way at all. And some people, for instance, think they have the discerning of spirits or the discerning of devils. They think it’s the discerning of the devils and Dr. Sumrall said, if you think you have that, then turn around, use it on yourself, and you won’t be so critical. And sometimes people are just super, super critical and judgemental in the body of Christ. And I’ve seen this happen over and over again and it is completely ridiculous. And you know, in Galatians chapter six, Paul says somewhat the same thing in the first five verses again. But really, if you just look at the first two, he says, “Brethren, if any man be overtaken in a fault, “you who are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit “of meekness and consider yourself, “lest you also be tempted.” And you know what? The attitude of Christ is a attitude of restoration. And I have restored people that were overtaken with many faults, at times. And it’s sad to say, but we preach Christ, but there are not a lot of people in the church that operate in a high level of grace.

Towards other people.

Towards other believers, especially. And we need to not only teach and preach grace, we need to demonstrate grace. Now, there’s certain things that people do if they’re in Christian leadership. They should actually probably remove themselves from Christian leadership. And some of the things that I’ve allowed, for instance, in the past, I’ve told you, boy, if people do that, just don’t allow it.

I love that verse, God has actually reminded me of Romans 15 One. A lot of times as a leader, as a pastor here at our church, I love that it says we then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak. You know, it’s better to have higher expectations for yourself and when other people don’t always meet a certain mark, just just keep showing grace towards them. You know, I, God reminds this to me all the time. You know, I oversee the worship ministry at our church. I kind of directed, there’s several worship leaders here, but sometimes someone on the team might just kind of have a little fit, kind of a bad attitude, that sort of thing. And God reminds me, you know, you don’t need to just go nail ’em to the wall and you know, sometimes, sometimes you want to, but, but God just says, Hey Aaron, you’re a strong person, You’re a strong leader, you’re, you know,

Just keep them going in the right direction.

Yeah, just, it’s better not to, it’s not always a good thing to just go chopping people off all the time and, and just.

No, I think that’s, you know, I think that’s comes with maturity. And the more you grow, you know, I, I think great leaders are compassionate and, you know, Lester Sumrall and Andrew Womack are two my mentors. They really focused on different aspects of the gospel. But in the way they deal with people, they both deal with people a lot the same way. They give people a lot of grace. And this is a mark of great leaders. They make a decision to build relationships with people based on their strength and not their weaknesses. And, you know, you can de destroy about any relationship if you focus on someone’s weaknesses. Now he says, Let each of us, in verse two, please his neighbor for his good and edification. Let’s try to build one another up. You know, we ought to especially do this in, you know, in the church. Like you’re talking in leadership, other members of the body, but also in the marriage and in the home. And you know, a lot of times in the marriage, opposites attract. And so what tends to attract us to opposite people are their strengths. And, but if we’re not careful, you know, when we get together, we’ll start looking at their weaknesses. Cuz they also have weaknesses that we probably don’t have as, as opposites. And you know what you, if you focus on the weaknesses, you can destroy about any relationship. If you focus on strengths, you can build about any relationship. So you’ve gotta make a choice. He says, you know, look at edification, look at building them up. He says, For even Christ did not please himself, he said, he goes on and says, whatever things were written a four time in the Old Testament were written for our learning, that we, through the patience and comfort of the scriptures, might have hope. Thank God the word of God gives us hope. And you talk about hope in the Word of God and loving weak people. Did you know the, the person who wrote the first five books, of the, of the Old Testament, the law was a murderer. And the person who wrote about half of the New Testament, was a murderer. And so God is a, you know, God is a God of grace. God is a god of mercy. Now they repented, they changed from that. They walked out of that, They walked into what God had for ’em. It, if you’re in sin, you need to get out of it. Praise God, you need to walk out of it. You need to walk into the light, walk into the good things of God. But we, as Christian leaders especially, we need to show grace to people and try to help them. You know, the goal really is restoration. And the gospel talks about that I think in Matthew chapter 18, Matthew chapter 19. If somebody sins against you, what do you do? You go get your brother, and you, you speak to them individually. You take a brother, you take two or three, or then maybe you bring him before the whole, but you’re not just trying to kill him. You’re not just trying to, And I’ve had people that had major sins against me and against the church, but I’ve forgiven, forgiven. Sometimes it takes some time, I’ll be honest with you. But God is a god of grace and we need to learn how to walk in grace. He goes on in verse six. He says, Do this. He says that you with one mind and one mouth may glorify God, even the Father. Where, where for receive one another as Christ received us to the glory of God. Now, I say that Jesus was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God to the Jews, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers. That the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy as it’s written. For this cause, I will confess to you, among the Gentiles and sing to your name and again, rejoice you Gentiles. And as people, again, praise the Lord, all you Gentiles and not Him. Again, Isaiah said, There will be a rue of Jesse, he will rise to reign over the Gentiles in him. Shall the Gentiles trust now that God of hope fill you with joy and peace and believing that you may have bound in hope through the power of the Holy Ghost. So Paul saying, Listen, we all ought to learn how to glorify God together. Jews and Gentiles. And just like we, we have learned, right? If somebody’s weak to bear their weaknesses, to love them, to focus on their strengths rather than weakness for the purpose of restoring them. He says, Listen, Jews and Gentiles. They have different dietary laws. They have different, different things. Romans 14, we’ve talked about that. But what we need to do is really seek to glorify God together. And in Verse 13, what a powerful scripture. The God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Ghost. You know, the Bible says in Hebrews 11 verse one, that faith is the substance of things hope for the evidence of not, things not seen. So actually hope is a foundation for faith. And David said in the Psalms a number of times. In thy word have I hoped. In thy scripture have I hope. And so we hope in God, we hope in the scriptures, we hope in the Word. And so when, when I first heard the word of God preached in its fullness, first heard the full gospel. I was just 14, but it created hope. I don’t have to be sick, porn defeated by the devil. I can believe God. And you know, we have that hope that the scripture produces in our life. But we can move from hope to faith. And hope is knowing that it’s a promise, knowing that that’s what God has for you. Faith is knowing is ours. And so he says, the God of hope fill you with joy and peace in believing. When you really hope will move you into faith. And he says that you may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Ghost. And so he says, The God of hope fill you with joy and peace. You know, when you’re really believing, you move into joy and peace and joy will take you from believing to receiving. And you know, the Bible says, the joy of the Lord is our strength. And if the devil can steal your joy, he can steal your goods. But if you keep operating in joy as a believer, the joy of the Holy Ghost, amen. It, it will help you move from believing to receiving and taking those promises of God. Go ahead Aaron, and read Verse 14 and we’ll read down through verse 23. And Paul’s really talking about his ministry and God called him to minister to the Gentiles.

This says in Verse 14, I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that you also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another. Nevertheless brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God. That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost. I therefore aware of I’m a glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God for I will not dare to speak of any of those things, which Christ has not brought by me to make the Gentiles obedient by word indeed. Through mighty signs and wonders by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem, in roundabout unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. I love that. I like what he was saying there about I, I dare not to speak of any of those things. This is in verse 18, which Christ has not brought by me, so.

Yeah, and if you look at Verse 16 to Verse 19, you know, Paul tried to go to the Jews. But as a whole, when he went to the Jews, he was rejected. So he ended up going to the Gentiles. And, and, and you know what? He had great fruit among the Gentiles. We need to figure out where God’s called us, and don’t fight against. You know, sometimes you, you gotta look at the fruit.

Yeah, and I, I love what he’s saying too about verse 18, just not speaking of those things, which Christ has not brought by me. He’s just saying, I, I, when I preach, I’m preaching from, from revelation. I’m preaching from what God has already done in my life, through my life. That’s a great way to minister to other people is, is not to minister someone else’s revelation, someone. But minister what God has done in you and through you. Share your testimony. That’s a great way to minister Jesus Christ to people. Just sharing what God has done for you and through you.

Paul said in Verse 16, I preached to the Gentiles, and, and you know what they got saved. They were sanctified by the Holy Ghost. And so I’m gonna rejoice in the things that God’s done, and what God’s done in my life, what God’s done in my ministry. In verse 19, he carries on about his ministry. He said by word and deed, not only did I minister in word but deeds. He says through the mighty signs and wonders. You know, Paul said this in first Corinthians 2, Verse 4. He said, When I came to you, my speech and preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the spirit and of power that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. So he said, when I came, I, I demonstrated the gospel with mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem, the eastern end of the Roman Empire, roundabout to Illyricum the western end of the Roman Empire, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. And until you preach the gospel with signs and wonders and demonstrations of the spirit, you have not fully preached the gospel. And I know Aaron, we’ve seen lots of demonstrations of the spirit.

Oh yeah.

We’ve seen lots of people saved, healed, filled with the Holy Ghost set free by the power of God. You’ve seen it, Praise God. I’ve seen it. I know one time when you first came here to the church to, to work and to be an assistant pastor, I sent you and our worship leader at that time case and cruise down to the hospital to pray for a, a, a young lady. You know, and that, you know, basically she had a heart problem. The doctors were saying, you’re gonna be, have this disease the rest of your life and you’re gonna have problems with this and you’re never gonna get free. And you guys went and prayed for her and God healed her and raised her up and she didn’t have that disease anymore.

No. Praise God.

Praise God. Jesus is the same.

Yeah and, I love what Paul goes on to say in Verse 20, he says, I’ve strived to preach the gospel not where Christ was named unless I should build on another man’s foundation. That’s a great verse, Verse 21. But as it is written to whom he was not spoken of, they shall see and they that have not heard shall under stand.

Amen, Paul said, I’m going to the Gentile. They haven’t heard the gospel, but they’re gonna see, they’re gonna hear and they’re gonna understand. Praise God, because the gospel works. And he says, For which cause I’ve been much hindered from coming to you. In other words, Paul said, I got so busy ministering to all these Gentile believers, I’ve had a hard time ministering to some of the Jews. And really he, again, he had great fruit in ministering to the Gentiles. So, sometimes to judge your ministry, you just gotta get out there and do it for a while and figure out what’s working. And, and what works and what has good fruit, stay at it. And what doesn’t work and doesn’t have good fruit. Don’t stay at it.

That’s awesome.

Figure out what works. Man, I, I had a preacher friend one time, and he was in Pueblo, Colorado. And this guy in a little bit, raised up a church of 500 people. He had a confession on the wall, Pueblo was in a major recession, and he had a confession of the wall, on the wall that he had the people confess every time they got, gave their offerings, that, that good jobs are coming to the city and blessings and increase. And within one year, Pueblo went from being one of the worst economies in the nation to the, one of the best economies in the nation. They got these national contracts, different things happen, but I believe as a result of that church believing and speaking the word. And that guy had a church of over 500 people in Pueblo, which is a big deal. And it was really flourishing. And he ran off with some evangelist to go do something, and ended up going to another town, in Michigan, and never had a church of over a hundred people. And you know what, you need to, sometimes people, don’t realize how much God’s given them. And so if God’s given you something you need to thank God for it, and don’t, don’t be easily moved, or swayed to move out of the anointing on your house.

Go where God calls you and to do what God has called you to do. So we’re gonna take a brief break here, but thanks so much for tuning in. We’ll be right back with the word.

Friends. I’ve been teaching from my series on Romans, the revelation of righteousness. Romans is actually my favorite book of the Bible. And I teach this class, I’ve been teaching it for years at Charis Bible College in Woodland Park with Andrew Womack. And so I’m teaching about the gospel is the revelation of righteousness. You want to get ahold of this. I have a book on it. I also have a four CD, mini teaching on it. And then most recently we’ve done the 16 teaching USB. That you can get just as we’ve been teaching it here on television. And so you want to get ahold of this revelation. If you get ahold of this revelation, it will change your life. So Romans, the revelation of righteousness. Thanks so much for being with us today. I’m sure that you’ll enjoy this great teaching and you’ll want to share it with your friends. Blessings, we appreciate you. Praise the Lord friends, we are in Romans chapter 15 and we’re in Verse 23. We’ve been talking about Paul’s ministry and his ministry to the Gentiles and how Paul said, Listen, we, we need to learn to glorify God together, glorify God for the good. Look at what God’s doing. And now he begins to talk in Romans 15, 15 Verse 23 about his desire to come and visit the people in Rome. That he’s actually writing this epistle to. He says in Verse 23, Now, having no more place in these parts and having a great desire these many years to come to you, whenever I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you for I trust to see you in my journey and be brought on my way to you for if I be somewhat filled with your company. But now I go to Jerusalem before I’m coming, he says, I’m gonna go to Jerusalem to minister to the Saints. For its pleased them of Macedonian and Akaya to make certain contribution for the poor Saints that are at Jerusalem. Now, Paul begins to talk about ministering to the Saints. Some people are called to minister primarily to sinners. Other people are called to minister primarily to Saints. And I’ve seen some people that are called to minister to sinners, criticize people that are called to minister to Saints. Some people call to minister to the Saints, criticize people that are called primarily to minister the to the Saints. You know what, we just need to love everybody and, and let them minister where they have fruit. And if it’s good fruit that comes from God, thank God for it. And so he says that and, and he, he goes on and he begins to talk about supporting the Jewish people that are poor. And he says in Verse 25, I go to Jerusalem, the minister of the Saints, it’s pleased them of Macedonian Akeya, to make a certain contribution. He’s talking about a financial or physical contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem, giving to the poor. Alms giving. You know, there, there are different types of giving I like to get involved in, in them all. There’s tithing, which is giving a 10th of what God has prospered with you. There’s offerings that are above and beyond the tithe, right? And, and there’s giving to the poor. The Bible says he that lends to the poor, gives to the Lord and that which he’s given God will repay. And you’ve seen that. I remember one time you gave you, you were gonna give a hundred dollars in a offering to help build a house for people in central America. Very poor country in central. And God spoke to you and told you to give a thousand. And so you marked out a hundred and you put in a thousand. And before you walked out of the church, within 15 minutes your phone dinged and you have an online business. And you sold something.

And made a thousand dollars.

Made a thousand dollars. It was a confirmation to you that what you did, God was pleased with. And I’ve seen that many times in our church as we’ve given and sewn into certain ministries. Man, that money will like flood back in and, praise God I like to sow seed. That’s how I like to do all my giving. Whether it’s tithes, offerings, or alms. I like to give it all, as a seed. Because I know a seed has a future, a seed has a harvest. And so he begins to talk about this and he says in Verse 27, Romans 15 27. It has pleased them truly and their debtors. They are, for if the Gentiles have been partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is to minister to them in physical things, carnal things. He says, Where for I’ve performed this and have sealed them with this fruit. So our church at, you know, we support a couple of different ministries that actually minister to the Jewish people, and give to the Jewish people. And you know, it’s, it’s not a major part of our support, but we do do some of it. And I think Paul’s talking about this. He says, When therefore I’ve performed this and sealed them with this fruit, I will come by you into Spain. And I’m sure that when I come, I will come in the fullness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ. Now when he says I’m coming in the fullness, I I’m coming. And he says, when I come, I’m coming in the fullness of the, of the blessing of the gospel. I believe the fullness of the blessing of the gospel is not only preaching the word like we talked about in Verse 19, but demonstrations of the Spirit.

That’s awesome.

Praise God. And you know, Jesus went, when he preached, he went preaching and teaching and healing. He demonstrated the gospel that he preached. He sent his disciples to go. He said, Preach the kingdom of God. Heal the sick, right? And the gospel’s the same. And the book of Acts, when they went forward, they went forward preaching the word of God and healing the sick, praise God. So we, we preach the word, but we demonstrate the power of the spirit. So he says, I come in the fullness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ. He says, And so you know what? There’s got, you know, there’s got to be some backup of what we say.

I love that Paul said, I’m not ashamed of the gospel of Christ.

Yeah. He begins.

Some people who don’t preach the fullness of the gospel. It’s because for some reason they’re ashamed of certain aspects of the gospel.

Religion and tradition and criticism. And you know, I get criticized sometimes for preaching healing or preaching on financial provision. But I challenge you to read the Bible. I challenge you to read the word. Read all of the promises of God and see what they say. And you know, rather than being a critic, why don’t you see how you can get it working in your own life? Praise God. It’s, it’s amazing how, how sometimes people who will criticize, don’t, they, they either don’t have that aspect of the gospel working in their life or they’re, they’re, they’re operating in this total, you know, blessing and yet criticizing other people who are preaching it. Which is really a tragedy. But we see it happen. And so he says, I beseech you brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake and for the love of the spirit that you strive together with me in your prayers to God for me. Keep praying for me, Hallelujah. You can pray for me. I accept your prayers, thank you. Pray for me that you know that I have wisdom. Pray for me that God gives me the message to preach. Pray for me that God directs me. That God opens doors, so on and so forth. That God gives us wisdom in administrating the ministry. Praise God, there’s lots of ways to pray. You can pray for our ministry, that God connects us with the right people and helps us continue to move forward in the gospel.

Amen.

And, and so he says, Pray for me. He says strive together in your, in, in your prayers for me that I may be delivered from them who do not believe in Judea. Man, Paul says, I’m gonna go there, I’m gonna do this. But man, pray that God will deliver. There’ll be, there’s some wicked unbelievers there that my service that I have for Jerusalem may be accepted of the Saints. You know, that the Saints will accept what I have to give. But deliver me from these wicked evil men who do not believe. He says that I may come under you with joy by the will of God and may with you be refreshed. Paul says, Listen, I’m coming, I’m gonna minister to you. I’m believing that you’re gonna be refreshed, but I’m believing I’m gonna be refreshed also. He says, now the God of peace be with you all. Amen, praise God.

I love that, I love that he was talking about, I want to be with you, that, that we may be refreshed. You know, I love, I love ministers that come here, that every time they come it’s just like refreshing. I know, I know.

Hallelujah.

I know once a year lately we’ve been doing a camp meeting and we always have Mark and Trina Hankins come here. I love him cuz it’s a very refreshing thing for the church. I know my parents are always very refreshed by their ministry and just them, just coming, moving with the holy ghost

Hallelujah, you know, not only the word but the Spirit, and the power of the Spirit. I know last time Mark was here, the Holy Ghost got on me. I laughed, probably close to a half hour. I mean it was, I’ve never had that. We had people say that I was demon possessed. They don’t know anything about the demon possession. That is not a devil that gives you the joy of the Lord, man. That is the joy of Jesus.

Amen.

It helped me so much, praise God.

So I I’m just glad you tuned in with us today. I know this is a refreshing ministry. I, I love this program that we have. I, I, I want it to be encouraging, to be refreshing. So, man, just keep connecting with life giving, refreshing ministries. It’s really important if, if
