Fearless Transcript
Thanks so much, friends, for tuning into the broadcast today. I’m so glad that you’re with us. We are sharing on one of my wife, Barbara’s, teachings, “Fearless”. We’re gonna be sharing on this all week. I believe this will help you so much. We’re gonna be talking about when you choose to live by faith and walk out of fear, how that opens supernatural doors of opportunity and blessing. You don’t wanna miss this teaching. God bless you. Friends, it’s so good to have you with us today and I’m so glad to have Barbara with us, and we’re gonna be sharing, actually, one of her teachings which is about “Fearless.” And we’re gonna be talking about Jochebed, who is the mother of Moses, and how she imparted some great things to him. And so, we’re gonna get some great things this week as we talk about this and it’ll be really good for us, really talking about relationships and imparting good things into our family, so on and so forth. So, Barbara, you can go ahead and jump in the word and we’ll move forward.
Yes, I’m really excited about what we’d be sharing with all of you this week. So again, thanks so much for tuning in and being a part in opening up your homes and and spending some time with us. God is so good. His word is good. It always lifts us up, builds us up. But you know, I entitled this this week “Fearless,” hon. You know, I can remember when I was younger and even as we began having our family, everyone would make this comment, “How can you raise children today? Or how can we have a victorious, overcoming life even for ourselves, as individuals, because of living?” We all understand we live in a world that has been affected by sin, but thanks to our heavenly father, he has sent Jesus Christ. So we know that we have victory, but we’re really trying to encourage people, especially parents, grandparents, and even individuals who fall for that fear tactic of-
Right.
How can any of us have victory in today’s society? How can we raise children?
I think this is actually a problem in every generation. I know I was talking to one of our ladies in the church and she’s a great mom, grandmother, great-grandmother. She’s up in her eighties and she’s doing very well health-wise, but she was telling me just recently, “I remember my great-grandmother talking about this in the 1970s, that the whole world was going to hell in a hand basket.” She said, “Now it seems like that’s really happening.” Well, it’s kind of a generational thing. There’s always challenges, there’s always difficulties. And if you really understand the cycle of nations, which was something Dr. Lester Sumrall talked about, you can see these patterns throughout history and the problems really that we’re facing in today’s society are not new problems, but they’re just things that kind of come up in a different way. So we don’t have to fear. They had faith, they made it through. We can have faith, we can make it through. And I know with children especially, we’re gonna talk quite a bit about imparting things to our children, I think the enemy really tries to play on this aspect of fear because if he can get you in fear, he can really get inroads into your life, into your children’s life and really hinder them from fulfilling their God-given destiny. So we don’t wanna, you know, fall into that trap of the enemy and really let fear be the motivation rather than faith be the motivation. When you look at the scriptures, really, faith and fear are polar opposites.
That’s right.
So praise God, we can go by the word of God and we don’t have to live in fear no matter what’s going down, and realize a lot of the things that may seem like they’re new, that they’re really things that have come back up in another way.
That’s a good point. I’m really glad that you brought that out. So we are gonna start, if you have your Bibles or some notes, we are gonna start in Exodus chapter one. That kind of sets the stage of what’s going on, what this family, what Moses’ parents, and we are talking about his mother and I like that you, I told her name ’cause I know a lot of us mothers understand it’s like our, we don’t have names when we’re raising children. It’s always like, and that’s the mother, that’s Moses’ mother or that’s, you know, Aaron, Andrew, or Peter’s mother. Those are the names of my sons. And so we did wanna actually give a reference that the Bible does tell us who Moses’ mother is. But again, there was some challenges for this family. So we can really learn a lot from them, what they did, and how they really loved God and they wanted their children to grow up loving God no matter what was being told or declared by the leader at that time.
Right.
And so, maybe this story is really special to my heart because of having three sons ourselves and just what they had to deal with to really protect the life of their son, Moses. So this is an Exodus 1:6-8 and it says, “And Joseph died, and all of his brothers, and all that generation, but the Children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly, multiplied, and grew exceedingly mightily and the land was filled with them. Now there arose a new King over Egypt who did not know Joseph.” So it’s interesting, you know, it’s really important that we do celebrate holidays or memorials because it’s important that we remember. And I’m always astonished how people forget who has been so good to them, who, we know that Joseph preserved life. And of course he, he was anointed by God to do that, but it’s like a new leader arose and they forgot everything about Joseph. And so, this new leader just said, “I do not like the Israelites, I do not like them multiplying.” He totally forgot about Joseph. And so, honey, do you mind reading nine through 17 again, we’re trying to, like, show them in the Bible what’s happening in this day and time.
“And he said unto his people,” this is the new king.
The new Pharaoh.
That forgot Joseph. “Behold the people of the Children of Israel are more and mightier than we are. Come, let us deal wisely with them less they multiply and it come to pass that when they’re falls out any war, they join our enemies and fight against us and get out of the land. Therefore, they set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens, and they built for Pharaoh, treasure cities, Pithom and Ramses. But the more they afflicted them, the more they grew.” Isn’t this interesting? You know, the Children of Israel, they had a covenant with God and they prospered, right? As slaves. They prospered when, as foreigners in a different land during the time of Joseph. And then, were coming up on nearly 400 years later and they’re still prospering. And they, the more they afflicted them, the more they grew, they continued to prosper. And, they were grieved. The Egyptians were grieved because of the Children of Israel. And these Egyptians made Children of Israel to serve with rigor and they made their lives bitter with hard bondage and mortar and brick in all manner of service. In field, in service, they made them serve with rigor. So, did you want me to read on down from that?
I think it’d be good. Let’s go ahead and do 15 through 17.
Okay.
‘Cause there’s some interesting things here.
“And the king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, which the name of one was Siphrah and the name of the other Puah, and he said, ‘When you do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, see upon the birthing stools, if it be a son, then you will kill him. But if it’s a daughter, then she will live.’ But the midwives feared God and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.” Now notice this, this was somewhat like abortion, you know?
Well, this reminds me-
Full-term abortion.
No, this reminds me of really what we’re dealing with in some of the states, especially the one we live, in the state of Colorado. They have allowed abortion when they’re fully, fully formed and a full term. And not only that, there’s some places, and I believe Colorado does it too, you can have your baby and abort it. And if you, and even if it’s healthy and alive, if you don’t want it a after a week, they’ll still kill it.
This is terrible.
But there’s, you know, praise God, there are some those in the medical field who are are like these midwives and saying, “We’re not going along with that.” And really, these midwives really, you know, risked their lives doing this.
And let’s just be honest about it. Abortion is taking a life, no matter what form it is. It’s taking a life and essentially, it’s murder. And, we just see that happening. It’s gone from the child in the womb to the child being full-term.
Even outside the womb.
Even now, to where they’re killing babies once they’re born, which is, it’s just murder. It’s terrible that our society or any society would allow this.
Well, and, and then, and again, this is talking about a leader, or a king, who did not want this certain group of people-
Right.
To continue to grow. And we have seen even that whether it’s China, where you can only have one child, or it’s you, we see even this today, that there’s certain groups that they are trying to eliminate. And, but I like, and our son actually brought this out, how, because the midwives chose to follow after God how he took care of them. Do you wanna go ahead and read 21 through 22?
Yes. “And it came to pass because the midwives feared God that he made them houses and Pharaoh charged all his people saying, ‘Every son that is born shall you cast into the river.'” Talking about the Hebrews. “And every daughter you shall save alive.” And so, this was a terrible situation where we see infanticide.
Mm-hmm.
And the farther a society goes from God, the more they allow things like this to happen.
That’s a good point.
And actually, if you would look at America and see what happened to our national debt when we begin to allow abortion and the argument that they used, actually, with Roe versus Wade, which has now been overturned, but the argument that they used isn’t even valuable anymore. They know that a child has a heartbeat once, I mean, it’s crazy. And life begins at conception. And so, the argument that they used then, they didn’t know, but scientifically, but now they know, scientifically, this is completely wrong. And so I want you to know that God is completely against abortion, and it is lie of the devil and our nation and other nations that have allowed this, it’s a terrible, terrible thing. And you know, we want to go on, but you know, some people are not gonna live in fear. They’re not gonna let the devil get in and let him stop them and let him lie to them. And this is what happened with Jochebed, the mother of Moses. So you can go ahead and take your message here.
Well, praise God. You know, it’s really important for our children and even for ourselves as individuals, you know, God has something tremendous for all of us. It’s important that we fulfill our destiny and so we need to protect the anointing. And that’s what I see that Moses’ parents did. Again, the Bible really makes reference to her as the mother. So we’re gonna look, if you, again, please turn with us in your bibles to Exodus 2:2 and it says, “So the woman conceived and bore a son. And when she saw that he was beautiful, a beautiful child, she hid him for three months.” You know, I think all of us know it’s pretty much impossible to hide a baby.
Right.
You know, the only way they can communicate is crying. But honey, I see something here that’s so special. “She saw that he was a beautiful child.”
Yes.
Some translations will say healthy, beautiful. But what I really believe is this mother, these parents saw a special anointing on their child that he was called to do something great.
Right, they saw the potential. You talked about this, and I believe this is something that you really saw when we were raising our children, is that you saw their potential and you began to see the gifts and as they grew, as they developed their gifts and talents, you begin to see, you know, where they were really gifted and what they were really good at. And it’s so important for us, you know, to see that and to know that.
Amen. So again, I like how she saw something special, and I know with each child we had, we saw something special in each one of them. And so it’s important for all of you to understand that God has amazing plans for you and it’s never too late to start those plans.
Praise God. Amen. That’s good. We we’re gonna take a short break, we’re gonna be back right after this break. We’ve got a couple of simple message for you, and we’ll be back right after this. And we’re gonna continue to talk about how we don’t have to live in fear, but we can live in faith and fulfill our God-given destiny. So stay tuned, we’ll be right back after this break. Blessings. Friends, I’ve really been enjoying teaching with Barbara on her message, “Fearless.” I know these messages have the power to help you, just like the word of God has helped us in our life. And so you can get them absolutely free of charge on our website at charischristiancenter.com in downloadable audio or video. Blessings.
God has rewards for us, if you are willing to do a mild amount of suffering on his behalf, to love someone who no one else wants to love. It might be that that person comes to know Jesus. Maybe you don’t see these things happen here, but you know, we’re not, we’re doing it for him. Amen.
Friends, I’m so glad that you stayed with us. We’ve been talking about Jochebed, the mother of Moses, and how really she lived without fear and she defied the king’s commandment, and she protected her child. And then we begin to see part of this was because, you know, not only is every life valuable, is every child valuable, every person has gifts, talents, abilities, anointings that come from God. When, when I think about it, I don’t think that God has created anyone to be a failure. I believe that God has created every person to be successful and to be a blessing to society. And a lot of it that is through seeing their God-given gifts and talents, and then beginning to develop them. But, if she would’ve allowed what Pharaoh was trying to do, was kill every Hebrew male child, that she would have allowed that to happen to Moses, God would’ve had to raise up somebody else to bring deliverance to the Children of Israel.
You know, you brought some things out a little bit earlier, but to me, you can always tell when the devil, or darkness, or wickedness is involved when they’re trying to stop something from growing and multiplying. We’ll talk about that later this week. But God’s plan is always about multiplication.
Right.
And the enemy’s plan is always to stop, to stop that, to stop you from multiplying in your life, or your family, or in any area of your life that the wicked, the wickedness or the evil one, the devil comes against everything that God is for.
Amen.
And God wants us to multiply in every area of our life. And again, we’re talking about children and family and how there was such an onslaught, what you brought out, the male children. And so they hid their child as long as they could and then, you know, this is really important to bring out. We need to be strategic when we’re raising our children. We don’t need to live in fear, but we need to, we need to have God’s wisdom, God’s plan. We don’t treat our children or ourselves, as individuals, as a bag of confetti.
Right.
Throw it up in the air and then whatever is, that must have been what God wanted. And I love that this family went into action. They saw, I believe, that not only was their child beautiful, healthy, but a special anointing on him. And so, it really does take faith. And what they did was absolute steps of faith to help their child fulfill his destiny and protect the anointing. And so this is in Exodus 2:3-4. Do you wanna read this or do you have that handy?
Yeah, I’ll jump right over there. It’s right here.
Okay. So it says, “And when,” this is talking about Jochebed, the mother of Moses, “She could no longer hide him, she took him, took for him an arc of bull rushes and dobbed it with slime and with pitch. And the put the child there in and she laid it in flags by the river’s bank.” So she made a little boat and you know, one of the newer translations says she put asphalt in it to keep it, you know, so she waterproofed it. And so, you know, faith is creative.
Amen.
And then, not only did she do that, but she put him down there where Pharaoh’s daughter would go and his sister stood afar off to see what would be done with him, to what would happen to him.
Yeah, that’s what I like that this family really went into action. And so, you mentioned that we’re actually, again, if you have your Bible, stay with us. This is Exodus 2:5-9. And you know, sometimes, honey, I know all of us make plans, but you know, it’s interesting how God has even a better plan. And it’s usually something, maybe, that we wouldn’t even think of. You’d be like, “How is this gonna work out?” You know, as you’re reading this story, you know, if you were watching a movie, it’d be a nail-biter as this mother puts her baby in the water and then he floats off and happens to float to the very enemy, the very kingdom that wants to get rid of him. But God had a plan.
Right.
And this is in, again, Exodus 2:5-9 and would you like to read that? How this little baby, where he ends up?
“The daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself in the river and her maids walked along the riverside. And when she saw the arc among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it. And when she opened it, she saw the child, and behold the babe wept and she had compassion.” Her heart went out to this child and said, “This is one of the Hebrews children.” “And then said his sister to Pharaoh’s daughter, ‘Shall I go and call a nurse of the Hebrew women that she may nurse the child for you?’ And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, ‘Go,’ and the maid went and called Jochebed, the child’s mother. And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, ‘Take this child away and nurse him for me, and I will give you wages.’ And the woman took the child and nursed him.” And so, this is amazing. When she chose to live by faith and not to live in fear, then supernatural doors begin to happen. Supernatural blessings began to come to her, supernatural favor came to her. And so now, not only has she preserved her child, but she’s getting paid to raise her own child and defy the king, the king’s commandment.
I love this story and I, I remember when we were having our children, building a family, and I saw this and it just jumped out at me. And I can remember thinking, “Wow, being paid wages to raise your own children.” You know, I think most moms would be like, “That’s great,” but I like what you brought out. They stepped out in faith, they kept their eyes and their focus on God, not the circumstances, not the surrounding, like why do we have to live in this area? But they knew that God was with them and they walked by faith and supernatural events open up and even supernatural protection, but provision for this family.
Yeah.
It’s amazing.
Yeah, and so, you know, there is supernatural provision that’s available to us when we put our faith in our confidence in God and when we trust God, when we choose to live above fear. And it was amazing what God did for her and you know what? God is no respecter of persons. He is really a respecter of faith. And I really believe that Moses not only learned from his mother when she imparted things to him as a child, but faith is not only taught, faith is caught, there’s a spirit of faith. And just like Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy, chapter one, verse five through seven, he said, “I know the faith that was in your mother, Lois, and in your grandmother, Eunice,” And he said, “I am persuaded that that faith is in you too.” And so just like that, I believe this faith was really imparted to Moses. And when we read in Numbers chapter 11, verse 23, it says, “By faith, Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months of his parents because they saw he was a proper child and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.” See, faith and fear are polar opposites. The Bible says that faith works by love and it says that perfect love casts out all fear. And so when you understand how much God loves you, then that causes your faith to work. And I believe that the parents of Moses, Jethro and-
Jochebed.
Jochebed, they were faith people. Praise God. Jethro, later in Moses’ life, was used to impart some wisdom in leadership, helped Moses develop that. But as a young child, you know, they say a child learns about half what they’re gonna learn by the time that they’re five years old. And so their learning ability is just amazing as a child. And most of this time when Moses was under five years old, because they kept nurses, they nursed their children a lot longer than people nurse today. And he was, he was, you know, had things imparted to him from his mother, just as a young child. And so, you know, their faith led to Moses really having faith and develop things. And it says, “By faith, Moses when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter.” He knew who he was. He had a very strong identity. And so, I believe these things were imparted by his mother, you know, as a child. And then he grew up and, and because of that, he made good choices. He chose to suffer affliction. It says, “With the people of God, rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season.” You know the pleasures of sin, what is sin? Sin means to miss the mark. You know, Jochebed, Jethro, they would’ve missed the mark if they wouldn’t have done this with Moses, their child. But they chose to rise up in faith. They chose to believe God. And because of that, God opened doors. They got supernatural blessing, they got supernatural favor, they got supernatural opportunity. Good things came to them because they chose to live by faith. And I believe it’s the same today, when we choose to live by faith, good things come to us. And faith and fear, you’re talking, called your series “Fearless.” Faith and fear, again, are polar opposites. So if you want to operate in the blessing of God, if you want to operate in the good things that faith will bring to you, you’ve gotta choose to live above fear.
Amen. I like what you mentioned, faith that is taught and caught. You know, we have good news, we have so much more information on what we’re teaching today. I actually taught a message called “Faith That is Taught and Caught,” And so you can look for that, and you can call our office, and they can help you find that. So, a lot of good information that’s very practical and I like what you brought out. And we’re gonna talk about this coming up in this week probably on our broadcast tomorrow. How did Moses know who he was?
Yes.
How did he know? And we’ll be talking about that, and the importance of teaching our children their true identity.
Praise God. And so, if you wanna get more, you can go to our website, you can watch these broadcasts, but you can also get this entire teaching, where Barbara taught a lot more than we’ve communicated today. And what we’ve done, we’ve went and developed our own children’s curriculum and we’ve got the first quarter of that available, and we’re gonna be having two years up there very soon. We’ve got the first four quarters written. It’s talking about who God is, who Christ is, who the Holy Spirit is, who you are. And, you know, we haven’t been able to buy a really great children’s curriculum for over 20 years. So now, we’re making one available and it’s available free.
That’s exciting.
You can download this for free. What I’ve been paying really hundreds of dollars a year, thousands of dollars I paid to access, you can get it for free.
