Destined To Win Part 16 Transcript

Welcome friends, to the broadcast. I’m so glad that you tuned in today. I’m here today with my son, Aaron, and we’re gonna be talking about how we stand against the enemy’s attacks. I know the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy, but you already have the victory in Jesus Christ. He has already won the battle. And when you understand what he’s given you, you can walk in the victory that he has already won. Open your heart and receive the word today. Friends, we are so glad that you are here today and we are sharing on Ephesians chapter six, and this is our last program of four weeks of broadcasting on the book of Ephesians. We began in chapter one through three where Paul says, “We are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” In Ephesians chapter two, verse six, the central verse, he begins with, “This is who we are, and we begin from a position of victory.” Then we went into chapters four and five where it talks about, this is how we walk this out, walk worthy of your vocation. He talks about don’t walk as other Gentiles walk, but renew your mind in the word of God. Walk in love, walk in the light, walk circumspectly not as fools, but his wife, redeeming the time intentionally, do the right thing. Then we talked about where we walk it out. We walk it out in relationships, and we began in the marriage relationship and the ends of Ephesians five. And then we begin to talk about children and parents in Ephesians six, one through four. Finally, he says in Ephesians chapter six, beginning in verse five, how we walk this out in the workplace. And then the last thing he says, “We sit, we walk and we stand against the devil.” Ephesians chapter six, verse 10 through verse 18. So we’re gonna try to finish this up right now, but here in Ephesians six verse five, it says, servants or employees, be obedient to those that are your employers, according to the flesh, with fear or with respect and honor in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ, not with eye service. So just don’t do a good job when the boss is watching, but he says, “As a man pleaser,” but do it as a servant of Christ. Whenever you go to the workplace, you serve your employer like you’re serving Jesus.

Like I said this yesterday, but just in regards to all these different relationships that Paul is talking about, you know, the relationships, you know, in marriage, in families with parents and children, but also here at the workplace. I like that he talks about singleness of heart or you know, my translation, the new King James says, sincerity of heart. God’s really looking at the heart. He wants people to do things with all their hearts. So when you’re working, it’s not just a job, but you should realize that God has you in a specific place for a specific reason. So be an ambassador there for Jesus in your work.

Amen.

Preach the gospel through how you work.

Amen, so he says, “Do the will of God from heart with good will.” You know what, when I worked, I’ve only worked for one other person than my grandfather, besides being on my own and, and being the head pastor. But I worked for Dr. Lester Sumrall. And listen, I did everything I could to help Dr. Lester Sumrall prosper. When I worked for my grandfather, I did everything I could to help my grandfather prosper. So he says, “You do this with goodwill, doing service.” Your employer ought to be blessed because you’re there.

Your coworkers should be blessed. They should want you to be a part of their team.

Sometimes Christians have the worst attitudes, and it’s a terrible witness. And so he says, “With goodwill, doing service as to the Lord.” So we work as unto the Lord and not unto men, “Knowing that whatever good thing any person does the same, will he receive of the Lord. Whether he’s an employee or an employer,” he says, bond or free, but, really in our time, we would look at it as employee or employer. And you employers do the same thing to those for bearing threatening. So, take good care of your employees, employers. And don’t threaten them. Don’t just rule with fear. Fear is a terrible motivator.

One thing I want to kinda mention, too, about just talking about God’s will and God’s destiny, for you relationally, God is not a manipulator. He does not like manipulation in marriage. He doesn’t like manipulation in the families.

In the workplace.

In the workplace either. God is not a manipulator.

Amen.

And relationally, he does not support manipulation.

Fear is not a good motivator. And you know, there’s been a lot of fear teaching in the church. There’s a lot of fear teaching, trying to motivate people. I am completely against it. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind. And what a lot of people don’t know, fear motivates. And therefore a lot of people, even that know this, will use fear as a technique of teaching to get response, to get results, it’s terrible.

And you get more clicks. Like just yesterday we talked about education and how you need to help your kids get a good education. And I just brought about how one conservative writer said if you send your kids to public school, blanket statement, you’re sending them to the meat grinder. And that’s a fear-based statement. And he gets lots of of clicks on that statement. That’s why people sometimes feed people’s fears.

Right, and it’s terrible.

When it’s not a good thing because you can’t make blanket statements

I got a friend that wrote a financial book,

like that.

he has a lot of revelation. It’s a great book. What he says actually is probably correct in one era, but I’m like, listen, there’s a major focus on fear and I’m not gonna, it’s not my deal.

Not much for it.

I just do not believe in that. Fear paralyzes. Fear does not promote health, spiritually, emotionally, physically, or financially, long turn.

Yeah, and if there is a downturn economically that, sometimes when there’s changes, that’s a great time for opportunity.

Great opportunity.

If people are being paralyzed by fear, they’re gonna miss out on a lot of opportunity

This is the problem. When you teach fear to Christians, they don’t do anything, and the worst thing you can do is nothing. So, you know, it’s just terrible. I’ve seen it and I’ve seen it for, well, 40 years now. Out of sects Christians.

Yeah, you’ve seen a lot. I’ve seen it too. I went and prayed for a woman once and her basement was full of hundreds of five gallon, you know, buckets of dry food for whatever fear thing she subscribed to.

You know, when the pandemic was here, people were-

And whoever, someone made money off of her selling her all this stuff that she never used and is never gonna use and isn’t gonna take to the grave with her. You know, she spent thousands of dollars probably on it.

You know, it’s terrible. And you know, in the pandemic, your mother and I went to the grocery store, here in Colorado Springs, people were buying everything on the shelf. I mean, the shelves were bare. Not a lot of dry goods.

No toilet paper.

And you couldn’t buy toilet paper anywhere, hardly, and listen, I could live forever. It’s just crazy.

Well, you’re from the country, you know you’ve eaten anything that moves, so.

Your mom and I went out and bought a few bananas and head of lettuce or something, you know, the perishable stuff that people weren’t worrying about. And we walked out with a few bananas and a head of lettuce, and some lady looked at us in the line when there was all these people with all this stuff piled up and said “You guys aren’t from here.”

Country people are tough

Listen, we got deer, we got rabbits. Listen, it is not a hard thing to exist. Survival, I’m not trying to survive, I want to thrive. And you don’t thrive by living in fear.

We’re living in a cave.

So we’re not gonna do that. So he just says, “Do not threaten knowing that you,” listen, I wanna treat my employees well because God is my employer. “You have a master in heaven, and neither is there respective persons with him.” So, if you treat people well as a whole, God’s gonna treat you well, It’s gonna come back to you. Man, I really, really try to obey God. I try to obey God in giving and, you know, I try to obey God in everything, in teaching. I try to obey God in the way that I treat the employees. You know, I try to treat everybody well, and I want everybody to do well if they’re with us for a period of time, so on and so forth. And do a good job, can do the job that they need to do. Now, that’s the end of what he’s talking about. We walk this out, we walk our Christ life out in relationships. And now he begins to talk about standing against the devil. And he says, “Having done all to stand and stand against the deceits of the devil.” You know, Satan’s only real power, over the believer, is deception. He’s a defeated foe. Jesus stripped him of his authority and his death bear on resurrection. And when you understand that as a believer, you can walk in the victory that Jesus has. And so he says, “Finally, my brother,” he’s coming to occlusion in verse 10, “be strong in the Lord and in the power of his mind,” or we might say, and in the authority of his ability, thank God we have authority to operate in his ability. Just like Paul prayed. If you go back to Ephesians one and read that in verse 17, 18 and 19, he talks about power, right? In verse 19, and through verse 23, he actually talks about three different kinds of power. He talks about authority, he talks about ability, and he talks about ability manifested in a reigning authority. So all of those, you know, come from these different Greek words for power. So “Be strong in the Lord and in the authority of his might or the power of his mind, the authority of his ability. Put on the whole armor of God.” It’s God’s armor. They’re God’s weapons. But we get to put them on. “That you might be able to stand against the wilds or the deceits of the devil.” This word stand comes from the Greek word histamine, like antihistamine. And it means to be established and infirm. Be established and firm in your stand against the devil. “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood.” Our battle’s not with our brother and sister in Christ, our battle’s, not with our husband, our wife, our boss. Many times there’s a spiritual battle going. And I have looked this scripture up, listen, in at least 20 translations, and in every translation it says, there is a spiritual battle. I don’t care what you think, that’s what the scripture says. And what we need to know is there’s a spiritual battle. But the devil is a defeated foe. And so he says, “We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world and against spiritual wickedness in high places. Because of this, where for take unto you the whole armor of God.” How much of the armor of God do we need, Aaron?

The entire.

The entire armor of God that you may be able to withstand. And this word is antihistamine, withstand in the evil day, having done all to stand. So if you take an antihistamine it gives you, it makes you

Stand against.

stand against, yeah And so he says, in the evil day, you wanna stand up in the evil day. You know, if you can’t run with the footman, how are you gonna run with the horses? You gotta learn. There’s challenging times sometimes that we face, but we stand up with the word of God. We stand up with the weapons. And nearly every weapon of our warfare that’s listed here, are connected to the word of God. So he says, “Take the armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the day of trial, in the evil day, having done all to stand.” Keep standing, keep standing strong, keep standing firm. Keep standing tall in Jesus Christ. He says, “Stand therefore having your loins gird about with the truth.” So truth is like a belt. It holds everything together. Praise God, we need the truth of God. Again, it’s not our version of the truth. We joke about, you know, we catch believers in certain lies, even some ministers, and it’s really a tragic thing. We say, well, they have their own version of the truth.

Yeah, the truth, God kind of spoke this to me about truth, just truth in general. I have a good friend who is really into apologetics. So he likes studying different apologetics. But he also studies different kind of cults that are out there, Christian cults, break offs of Christianity. And he sent me an auction. I guess Christie’s Auction was auctioning off like a first edition Book of Mormon.

Oh my goodness.

And Mormons are very into history. Like there’s a lot of Mormon historians in Utah. So this is a very valuable thing, you know, worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. And I just made a joke and said, well I’m not gonna bid on it until they, unless they auction off, you know, the golden tablets that Joseph Smith, which they don’t actually exist. It’s a lie, but I tell ’em this about truth, speaking about truth, you know, truth always prevails.

Amen.

The truth will always stand.

Amen.

Lies will fall, falsehoods will fall, but the truth will always remain standing the truth.

So if you wanna keep standing, tell the truth. It’s always better.

Be a person of truth, yeah.

Operated integrity. And so he says this, he says, “Stand there for having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness.” Righteousness protects your life. Righteousness protects your vital organs, and you’re righteous by faith in Jesus. But you also need to walk out the righteousness of God. Both of those things are scripture, Amen. So praise God, we’re gonna be back in just a few seconds. Stay tuned, we’re gonna talk about the rest of this, you know, spiritual armor, God’s armor, that he’s given to us to be victorious over the enemy. Praise God. He wants you to walk in victory. He already won the victory. He made you victorious when you were born again. Now you take his armor and walk this victory out. Be back in just a few seconds. Friends, I’m Pastor Lawson Perdue, and I’ve been teaching “Destined to Win” from the book of Ephesians. This is one of the greatest teachings that I have ever done. I’ve had more requests for this teaching than almost any teaching we’ve done. I’ve got it in eight parts, as I taught it in church, in CD form, also in a USB. And then, I also have the teaching in 16 parts as we’ve taught it on television with my son, Dr. Aaron Perdue. And in this 16 part teaching, I am just thrilled with all the different things that was brought in. So you can get the eight part CDs or the USB that has all the video and audio, or you can get the 16 part as taught on television. Call us and let us know what you’d like to have. We have a special offer today and we’re so blessed to have you. Check out our website, charischristiancenter.com. We have this and many other materials, and we have all of these things online for free, blessings. Praise the Lord, friends, we are back and we’re talking about the armor of God. And so Paul says, “Take the whole armor of God that you could stand in the day of trial, having done all to stand, stand, therefore, having on the belt of truth.” You know, truth holds everything together. Having on the breast plate of righteousness. Righteousness protects your life. Righteousness protects your vital organs. Thank God “Having your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.” Praise God. His gospel is righteousness, his gospel is peace. Praise God, we need to, you know, Romans 10:15 says how beautiful, how lovely on the mountains are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, that bring good news, of good things. We are at peace with God being Romans 5:1 says, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord, Jesus Christ.”

Yeah, I love what Paul also write in Roman 16 verse 20, he says “The God of peace will crush Satan under your feet, shortly.”

Oh, yeah.

So the first time the gospels actually preached was in the Garden of Eden, in Genesis three. God preached the gospel to the serpent.

Amen. He said the serpent, the seed of this woman will crush your head. Here in Roman

Amen.

16:20 it says “Now that us as believers having Christ to us, that the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet.”

Right.

So now we have authority over Satan, and I just love that. We have authority because we have this gospel of peace. Our feet are shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. So our feet being shod with the gospel, that gospel of peace. is what crushes the power of sin.

Amen, glory to God. And so he tells us, we’re at peace with God and we keep sharing the gospel of peace. God’s not mad at you. God loves you. Jesus already paid for your sin. He already defeated the devil. You’re a victor in Christ. We keep telling people the truth, and if they believe it, they can receive it. Amen, then he goes on and says this “Above all, take the shield of faith. Where with you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.” Man, faith is a shield. All the enemy, the only power the enemy has, over the believer, is lies. So you take the shield of faith and you put out those lies, those flaming arrows, those lies that he tries to throw around. And where does faith come from?

It comes from knowing God, faith works by love.

Amen.

Faith comes by hearing the word.

Okay, yeah. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. It’s the same as knowing God. Because if you understand what that says in the Greek, in Romans 10:17, when it says, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the mouth of God, It’s really when you hear what God said about himself, right, that’ll bring faith in your heart. And so faith comes when people know God, that God is our provider, that he is our healer, that he is our deliverer, that he is our sanctification.

Knowing his true nature, who he really is.

Yeah, that he is our peace and our provision. That he is our righteousness, that he is our sanctification, and that he is there, praise God. That’s the seven redemptive names of God in the Old Testament. And when you study the word of God now then, Hebrews 10:17, faith comes by declaration, and declaration by the mouth of God. So when someone comes and preaches to you, who God said that he is, Aaron, you have a fantastic teaching. I don’t believe I’ve ever heard anybody teach it any better or even as well as you do. You studied biblical Hebrew in Rice University with the Doctors of Religion, but on the names of God, these seven redemptive names of God, it’s about eight CDs. We have it available in our bookstore. You can call, you can get it on the website, you can call the church and get it. We can mail it out to you. But it is great teaching when you begin to understand God’s true nature, that God wants to help you, and bless you, and heal you, and protect you in every area. It’s marvelous teaching. And so it says you take the shield of faith, and you put out the lies of the devil. You know, there are a lot of lies the devil is propagating. Some of them are even in the church.

That’s true.

There’s one that you talked about the other day. It was horrible. And praise God, we know the truth. And Jesus said, “If you continue in my word, you’ll be my disciples indeed. And you’ll know the truth and the truth will make you free.” So praise God, we’re continuing the word, we’re preaching the word, we’re studying the word. The word is what builds us. You know, faith begins where the will of God is known. And a lot of people just don’t know the will of God because they don’t don’t know the word.

I love all these, you know, the whole armor of God. I remember when I was a kid, I think you and mom got me and my brother’s little armor of God outfits. So, but this isn’t just a, you know, a kids, children’s church lesson. This is the real deal here.

Man, it’s a license.

As I’ve kind of studied this out and thought about this, every bit of the armor of God, it is created for offense. You know, there isn’t any part of this armor that is to cover your hine parts in retreat. You know, God is not destined for you to retreat. He’s only destined for you to move forward. You know, the Kingdom of Heaven is created to advance forward, so all this armor, it is to advance forward. It is not to retreat or to cover your behind. It is to help you advance forward. And I was just thinking about the lepers who, you know, they were there in Jerusalem, and they were being besieged, and you know, they were so cut off that they were running outta food and people-

Samaria.

Yeah, in Samaria, and these lepers thought, well, what do we have to lose, you know? We might as well just go out to the enemy.

If we go back in the city, we’re gonna die.

God was just waiting for someone to step out in offense.

Yes.

And just these lepers who just, they’re active faith, we’re just gonna leave the city.

Yeah.

And that little bit of stepping forward just wiped out that army.

God magnified the sound of their feet, their enemies.

The, the moment they stepped out, just that entire-

The enemies destroyed themselves and ran off and left all the goods.

But God was just waiting for one covenant person, one covenant person. He didn’t care who it was. He didn’t care if it was a child, if it was a leper, if it was the king, a gen. He just wanted one covenant person to step out.

You know, they went to one tent, found silver, and gold, and clothes, and food. They went to another tent, found riches, and wealth, and clothes and food. Another tent, they finally said, hey, this is a day of good news, we gotta go back and tell people.

You are not created to retreat.

And they went back.

God just wants someone to step out.

He’s looking for somebody to believe him.

To step forward. He’s looking for somebody to get out there and go for it.

There is no partiality with him.

And you know where the greatest opportunity is, the greatest opportunity is when we’re having the greatest battle. He says, “Take this armor to you that you can stand in the evil day, in the day of trial, in the day of trouble.” There’s great opportunities when there’s great challenges and great difficulties. God did not send the problem. God did not send, you know, the challenge, but you stand up with the armor of God, and stand against whatever the devil is trying to bring. Whether it’s sickness, whether it’s poverty, whether it’s anxiety, whether it’s destruction in relations.

And just read John 10:10, the thief comes to steal Kill, and to destroy.

Take the word of God and go after your enemy, go get it. You know, I had one time, we had a huge blizzard and I lost about $100,000. I had all these cattle turned out, and man, there were dead cattle everywhere. The good thing was I had 207 cattle turned out, southwest Lamar, about 35 miles. And most people in that area lost 50% of their cattle. I only lost four out of the 207. And I had a guy that came and, I didn’t realize we’re so much out time. Well, we gotta finish this up. So Paul says this, he said, “Take the shield of faith, quench all the fiery darts, the wicked. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. Pray always with all kinds of prayer. Thanksgiving, intercession, supplication, asking God, giving of thanks, watching therefore with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. Pray for the church, pray for all saints and for me. Pray that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, which I am ambassador and bonds for, then I speak boldly as I should speak.” Hallelujah, “But that you may know, also, my affairs and how I do. Tychicus, beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord shall know to make known to you all things who have sent to you for the same purpose. That you might know our affairs, that he might comfort your hearts. Peace be to the brethren and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” And I love this last verse, “Grace, be to all you who love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity.” Again, that’s a hard issue, isn’t it, Aaron? Amen, you know, when we were dealing with that issue with those cattle, I gotta finish this story. You know, I had a minister gospel and said, fear not, you know, pursue for you shall recover off. I got 203 outta 207 cattle turned out, and four of ’em might have died through the summer. And you know what? And with within one year’s time, I recovered everything that I lost. Amen, so when the enemy comes, you stand strong against him. Take the armor of God, keep praying, keep believing. Get some good friends who help you move forward. You got a few closing words?

Yeah, I just feel like God has purpose for your life. You know, I love this series that we’ve been doing called “Destined to Win” from Ephesians. What a great book of the Bible. Like I said, when I first became a pastor six years ago, I was at my parents’ house just reading through my dad’s bible. And I noticed Ephesians, it was about ready to fall out of his Bible. He’d read over it and written down on it, so much. So, it’s just a great book of the Bible. And man, if you’re feeling down, if you’re feeling like you’re lacking purpose, if you’re feeling like you’re not really on the right track, just spend a little time in this teaching. Spend a little time in the book of Ephesians. Just every verse in Ephesians is packed with power, packed with purpose. God has a great destiny in store for you. You are really destined to win. You are seated with Jesus in heavenly places. You are accepted in the beloved. God loves you and there’s no greater love than having God love you.

Amen, so you begin from a position of victory. You’re seated in heavenly places in Christ. You walk it out in this world, and you stand against the devil. God bless you. If you need prayer, be sure and call us today. Bless you.
