Covenant of Healing Part 4 Transcript

Praise the Lord, friends. We are teaching on “Covenant of Healing” today. And I’m specifically talking about the healing ministry of Jesus. The Bible says in Luke chapter five and in Luke chapter six, that people came to hear him and to be healed by him of their diseases. Jesus Christ is the healer. And he’s still healing today. Open your heart and receive the good Word of God. Blessings. Praise the Lord, friends. We are sharing today about the “Covenant of Healing”. And we’ve been sharing all this week a number of things. We shared, first of all, that we have a “Covenant of Healing”, and it’s based on the nature of God. God said that I am the Lord who heals you. Then we talked about the promises of God for healing. And we have many, many promises for healing in the scriptures. And the Bible says this in 2 Corinthians 1:20, that all the promises of God in him, in Christ, are yes. And in him, amen to the glory of God by us. God gets glory when we walk in his promise. And finally, we moved over into the life and the ministry of Jesus. And you know what? Jesus was constantly healing people. I talked about Dr. Lester Sumrall. He said, Jesus was either healing someone or coming from healing someone, or going to heal someone. I mean, John said, if we would’ve tried to write all the things that Jesus did in his ministry, the world itself could not contain the books. Jesus had a healing ministry. The Bible says in Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus with the Holy Ghost and power who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with him. You see God, the Father, promised healing. God, the Son Jesus, paid for our healing in his death on the cross. The Bible says, by his stripes, we were healed. And God, the Holy Spirit, gives us the power to receive healing. So when you have the Trinity in unity, you find the power of God. We’re gonna continue talking about the healing ministry of Jesus. And we went in a number of scriptures in the book of Matthew. And then we went into the book of Mark. We saw in John that the scripture says, no man has seen God at any time, but the only begotten Son, who is from the bosom of the Father, he has revealed him. He has declared him. He has openly made him known. And if you wanna see Jesus, you don’t need to look any farther than the scriptures and what they say, but we’re gonna move on into Luke’s gospel today. But before we do that, I wanna look at one more example in Mark chapter 10, the healing of blind Bartimaeus. This is a powerful healing miracle. And we need to see the power of God. And in Mark 10:46, it says, “They came to Jericho. “And as he went out of Jericho with his disciples, “a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, “the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. “And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, “he began to cry out. “Bartimaeus began to cry out and he began to say, “‘Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me.'” “He began to cry out, “‘Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me. “‘Jesus, son of David, have,'” and as he cried out, amen, the Lord Jesus ministered to him. And it says, “Many charged him that he would hold his peace, “but he cried out the more a great deal. “‘You, son of David, have mercy on me.’ He began to cry out to Jesus. You know what? The Bible says that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. You say, Pastor Lawson, what does that mean, concerning divine healing? Actually says that in Roman chapter 10. Well, this is what it means, when you read the word saved, or save, sozo is the Greek word. And the Greek word sozo, saved or soteria for salvation, means forgiveness, healing, freedom, provision, peace. It includes all of those things. It’s an inclusive word. It means to be made whole, to be made well. Praise God. And so, when he was crying out to Jesus, the Bible says, “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” And Jesus stood still, it says. You know what? Jesus heard this cry. And this is in Mark 10:49. “And he commanded him to be called. “And they called the blind man. “And they said to him, ‘Be of good comfort. “‘Rise, he calls you.’ “And he, casting away his garment.” Boy, you know what? He was tired. He had a garment that identified him as a beggar, as a legal beggar, right? That identified him as a blind man. But when he was coming to Jesus, he threw off that beggar’s garment. He threw that off. He said, listen, I’m not identifying with poverty anymore. I’m not identifying with blindness anymore. I am going to Jesus and I’m getting healed. And he rose and came to Jesus. And Jesus answered and said unto him, “What do you will that I would do to you?” What do you will, what is your will? Did you know, your will has a lot to do with you getting healed? In John chapter five, there was a man who was lame and he was laying at the pool of Bethesda. And he’d been sick for 38 years. And Jesus said, will you be made well? What do you want? He said, Lord, I have no man to put me in the water. Jesus said, listen, you get up, take up your bed, and go to your house. He was made whole from that very hour. Your will connected with Jesus, praise God, Jesus was there. That changed things. Praise God. And you say, well, Jesus, isn’t physically here. Well, he’s working in the body. Jesus is working on the body. Acts 1:1 says, “This former treaty, O Theophilus, “have I written of all that Jesus began to do and teach,” indicating that Jesus is still doing and teaching. The Bible says in John 14:12, Jesus said, “The works that I do “and greater works than these shall you do “who believe on me.” He who believes on me the same works that I do and greater works than these shall he do because I go in my Father, because redemption’s been paid for because of what he did at the cross. And Jesus said, what do you will? So get your will in agreement with the will of Jesus and start receiving the benefits of what Jesus paid for in his death and his resurrection. And the blind man said into him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. He knew what he wanted. Do you know what? We’re gonna read in a minute from Luke’s gospel. And we’re gonna read about the ministry of Jesus, how people came to hear him. And they came to be healed by him of their diseases. And Jesus said unto him, “Go thy way. “Your faith has made you well.” Go home. Hallelujah, go your way. Hallelujah, go on your way. And immediately, immediately, it says in verse 52, that he received his sight and followed Jesus in the way. Praise God. You know what? We are healed for a purpose. We’re not healed to sit on a couch and lay around and eat potato chips, watch as the stomach turns. Praise God. We are healed to preach the gospel. We’re healed to lay hands on the sick and see them healed. We’re healed to minister the life of God to people. Praise God. Now, we’re gonna move into Luke’s gospel, because in Luke’s gospel, we also see healing working in a mighty way. Praise God. The healing power of God works in the gospel. I’ll be back right after this. We’ll start in Luke chapter four, if you have your Bible there. Praise the Lord, friends. We are teaching and sharing on the subject of divine healing. Thank God Jesus made provision for us at the cross. And we have just as much right to be healed in our body as we do to be forgiven for our sins. But how can we receive that in our life? We go through this in detail, and I have a healing bundle that I’m sharing with you. I wanna get this to you. The Bible says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. And I know these teachings will build your faith. I have, first of all, my series on “Covenant of Healing”, and then I have my series on “The Cross is the Cure”. And then we have my wife Barbara’s series, and she’s a powerful teacher and ministers healing in a very powerful and anointed way on “Present to Heal” and how to receive divine healing and health in your life. And I want you to call in today and get this. It will help you build your faith and receive from God. Blessings. We’re in Luke chapter four. And in Luke chapter four, Jesus opened up his earthly ministry. And he opened it, when he opened it in, it’s after he was tempted by the devil for 40 days and 40 nights, overcame it in every realm. And then it says in verse 14 “That he returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee. “And there went about a fame of him “throughout all the region about, “and he taught in their synagogues being glorified by all. “And he came to Nazareth where he’d been brought up, “and as his custom was, “he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day “and stood up to read. “And there was delivered to him, “the book of Isaiah, the prophet. “And when he opened the book, “he found the place where it was written. “He looked into the scroll of Isaiah and he said, “‘The Spirit of the Lord is on me, “‘because he’s anointed me “‘to preach the gospel to the poor.'” So Jesus was anointed by the Holy Spirit to preach the gospel to the poor. And it says, “He sent me to heal the broken hearted.” So I want you to know, just like there’s an anointing to preach the gospel, there’s an anointing to heal the sick. Amen. And the same anointing, amen, the anointing that will save sinners, there’s an anointing that will heal sick people. And he says, “To heal the brokenhearted, “to preach deliverance to the captives, “freedom to the captives, restoration of sight to the blind, “to liberate, to set at Liberty those who are bruised, “to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” It says in verse 20, “And he closed the book, “and he gave it again to the minister “there in the synagogue. “And he sat down, “and the eyes of all of them in the synagogue “were fastened on him.” Jesus said something different. Today, this scripture is fulfilled. They were always talking about the Messiah who would come. And Jesus said, “Today, I’m here.” Praise God. Today, you can receive your salvation. You can receive your healing. You can receive your freedom. You can receive the grace of God today. This day is the scripture fulfilled here. You know what? You wanna make religious people mad, you start saying today, God wants to heal people today. God wants to prosper people today. God wants to deliver people today. You don’t have to wait until the sweet by and by and pie in the sky eternity. You can get it right here. You can have steak on your plate right now. Hallelujah, praise God. “And all bear him witnessed. “And they wondered at the gracious words “that preceded out of Jesus’ mouth. “And they said, ‘Is not this Joseph’s son?’ “He said to them, “‘You will surely say, ‘Physician heal yourself. “‘Whatever we’ve heard done at Capernaum, “‘do in our country.’ “And he said, ‘No profit is accepted in his own country, “‘but I tell you the truth, many widows were in Israel “‘in the day of Elijah, “‘when the heaven was shut up three years and six months “‘and a great famine was throughout all the land. “‘But under none of them was Elijah sent, “‘except to Zarephath, the city of Sidon, “‘unto a woman who was a widow.'” You can read about it in 1 Kings chapter 18. He got there. The woman was getting her last sticks and her last meal. He said, what are you doing? I’m getting just a little stick to build a fire. I got just a little bit of meal in a barrel, a little oil in a jar, and I’m gonna cook a meal for me, a biscuit for me and a biscuit for my son, and we’re gonna die. Eat it and die. And the prophet said, “Feed me first.” Can you imagine the audacity of Elijah? And he said, “For the jar of oil will not fail. “And the barrel of meal will not waste “until the day that God sends rain in Israel.” And so, she made a little cake for him, a little cake for her, a little cake for her son. They ate and they ate of that oil and of that meal for many days. They would go every day and there’d be oil in that jar. They’d go every day, and there’d be meal, meal in that barrel. Praise God, enough for that day. God sustained them every day through a miracle of the power of God. And he said, he goes on. He said, “Under none of them was Elijah sent, “except as Zarephath the city of Sidon, “unto a woman who was a widow.” And he said in verse 27, “There were many lepers in Israel “in the time of Elijah, the prophet. “And none of them was cleansed, saying .” He had to ask for it. If you’re gonna receive it, you’ve gotta ask for it. You gotta believe for it. You see, what Jesus was saying, listen, I’m here. I’m here to save. I’m here to heal. I’m here to deliver. I’m here to free, but if you’re gonna receive it, you have to believe it. And if you wanna make people mad, start telling this right now, right here today. And then you’ve got some responsibility in it. As long as you put all the responsibility on God, you don’t have any personal responsibility. You’re not gonna upset anybody. But you see, grace is God’s part. God has provided forgiveness, healing, provision, peace, all through his grace. But if we wanna receive these promises, it takes our faith in combination with his grace. You see, we started with the Scripture. All the promises of God in him are yes, and amen to the glory of God. You see, when God sent Jesus, he said, “Yes, that’s the grace of God.” When we believe it, we say, “Amen.” So the grace of God, coupled with our faith receives salvation, receives healing, receives health, receives peace, receives deliverance, receives provision. You can receive the promises of God. And so, when they heard these things, notice this in verse 28, it says, “When they in the synagogue heard these things, they were filled with wrath. “And they rose up and threw Jesus out of the city.” I’m glad I’m not the only person that makes people mad sometime. “And they led him to the hill.” You know what they were gonna try to do? I’ve been there. I’ve seen that hill in Nazareth. They gonna try to kill him. Where on the city was built, that they might cast him down. It is a really steep hill. They wanted to kill him, but he knew it wasn’t his time. And so, he, passing through the midst of them, went his way. Hallelujah, wasn’t his time yet. Praise God. Now, “He came down to Capernaum,” right? This is near his headquarters, “A city of Galilee, and taught them on the Sabbath days. “And they were astonished at his doctrine, “for his word was with power. “And in the synagogue, “there was a man who had the spirit of an unclean devil. “And he cried out with a loud voice saying, ‘Let us alone. “‘What have we to do with the Jesus of Nazareth? “‘Have you come to destroy us? “‘I know that you are the holy one of God.’ “And Jesus rebuked him and said, “‘Hold your peace and come out of him.’ “And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, “he came out of him and heard him not.” Now, look at verse 36. “And they were all amazed “and spoke among themselves and said, “‘What a word of this, for with authority and power, “‘he commands unclean spirits and they come out.’ “And the fame of him went out “into every place into the country. “And he arose out of the synagogue “and entered into Simon’s house. “And Simon’s mother was taken with a great fever, “and they be besought him for her. “They came to Jesus for her, “and he stood over her, and he rebuked the fever. “He spoke to this fever. “He rebuked it and it left her.” Somebody might have a fever day. I rebuke that fever in the name of Jesus. I curse that fever right now, and I commanded it to leave your body. And I command the healing power of God to flow up out of your spirit, into your body right now in the name of Jesus, in the name of Jesus, receive your healing. Praise God. “And immediately, she arose and minister to them. “And when the son was setting all they that had sick, “any sick with different kinds of disease, “brought them unto him. “And he laid hands on every one of them and healed them.” We talked about the healing ministry of Jesus. We said, there’s at least seven ways that Jesus healed people. In fact, I don’t think I got through ’em all when I talked earlier this week, but the first one was the spoken word, like rebuking that fever. The second most prevalent is laying on of hands. Then he healed people through delivering, speaking words of deliverance, words of freedom. Praise God. Sometimes sickness was attached, connected with demonic oppression. Then through the prayer of faith, the Bible says, the prayer of faith shall save the sick. Jesus prayed the prayer of faith. Then through the gift of faith, the gifts of the Spirit, the gift of the faith, you could see that working in Jesus many, many times when he healed the sick. And the work and miracles. In fact, Oral Roberts said this, Kennedy Hagin said this, Lester Sumrall said this. If somebody’s raised from the dead, there is a gift of faith and a working of miracles working together. They come together, and so through the gift of faith, praise God, through the working of miracles, that’s when God works through a person or instrument to perform a supernatural act in an instance. And then finally, through the gifts of healings. John 3:30 says that Jesus had the Spirit without measure. We have the Spirit by measure. We have different aspects of the anointing working in our life, but Jesus had all of it. He had all seven manifestations of the Spirit that were working in. And the gift of healing is not a singular gift. If you study it out in the Greek in 1 Corinthians 12, it’s a multiple gift. Dr. Lilian Yeomans taught that there may be as many as 39 different gifts of healings, one for every stripe that Jesus took. She was a medical doctor. Some people, I’ve heard this taught, I don’t know this. I’m not a medical doctor, but I’ve heard it taught that there are 39 root causes of sickness and disease. And so, there’s probably 39 different gifts of healing to take care of every kind of sickness and every kind of disease. Well, Jesus healed every kind, and he healed all these different ways, the spoken word, the laying on of hands, the prayer of faith, the casting out of devils, praise God. Sometimes sickness is attached to demonic activity. The gift of faith, the working of miracles, and the gifts of healings. Jesus Christ is a healer and he heals. Now, we’re just barely getting into this. Hallelujah, but we go ahead and look, let’s look into Mark or Luke. This is in Luke chapter four. Now, notice what it says. “When the son was sitting, all they that had any sick “with different kind of diseases brought them unto him. “And he laid his hands on everyone and healed them. “And the devils came out, many crying out, “‘You’re the Christ, the Son of God.’ “And he, rebuking them, suffered them not to speak.” He’s not gonna glorify the devil. He’s not gonna let the devil glorify the devil. He’s not gonna let demons give, sometimes people just trying to make a show. We don’t need to make a show, just take authority to the devil and cast him out. Now, when we go into Luke chapter five, I want you to read this. Jesus heals this leper. And we talked about this. This leper came to Jesus, said, “Lord, if you will, “you can make me clean.” That’s verse 12. And Jesus, in verse 13 says, “I will be though cleanse.” And immediately, he put forth his hand. He touched him, he laid hands and spoke the word. Immediately, the leprosy departed from him. But Jesus said, go show yourself to the priest, because the Bible said, the Moses said, if you’re healed of leprosy, you go show yourself to the priest. And when the priest declares you whole, you can reenter society, okay? As Moses commanded for testimony to them. But so much, look at this verse 15, “There went a fame abroad of him “and great multitudes came together to hear “and to be healed by him of their diseases.” They came to hear him and they came to be healed, and he withdrew himself into the wilderness and prayed. And it came to pass on a certain day as he was teaching that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by the way, which were come out of every town of Galilee and Judea and Jerusalem, and the power of the Lord was present to heal them. Jesus had a healing ministry and people came, notice this, in verse 15, to hear him and to be healed by him of their diseases. Jesus, people not only came to hear the message, they came to receive the power. Paul said, “When I came to you, my speech and preaching “was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, “but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, “that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, “but in the power of God.” Thank God there is power of God for healing people. And if you wanna see people heal, you need to let the power of God flow through you. Amen. You need to flow in the power of the Holy Spirit. Now, I wanna show you this in Luke chapter six. That was in Luke chapter five. Luke chapter four, Jesus said, “I’m anointed to preach and heal.” Then he, what? Preached and healed. Luke chapter five, they came together to hear him and to be healed, right? And they heard him and they were healed. Luke chapter six. Now, look at this in verse 17. Luke 6:17. “And he came down with them and stood in the plain, “and the company of disciples “and a great multitude of people “out of all Judea and Jerusalem “from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon “came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. “And they were vexed with unclean spirits “and they were healed. “And the whole multitude sought to touch him “for the virtue of God went out of him,” the goodness of God flowed out of him, the power of. You know what? Where great grace is preached, great power is released. “And he healed them all.” I want you to know that Jesus Christ was a healer. Jesus Christ is a healer. He heals today. He’s never changed from healing. He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever. Praise God. Then we move to Luke chapter seven. I mean, you just read chapter, after chapter, after chapter, miracle after miracle, healing after healing. Praise God. And there was a centurion that came to Jesus and he said, “‘Listen, my servant lies at home sick.’ “‘And Jesus said, ‘I will come and heal him.’ “And he said, ‘Listen, I don’t need you to come. “‘I’m a man of authority “‘and I’m not worthy that you should come under my roof.'” If you read this, it’s in different places, right? Matthew chapter eight, here in Luke chapter seven. And so, he says, “But speak the word only, “for I’m a man of authority. “And I say to one, go, and he goes. “I say to another, come, and he comes.” And so, Jesus spoke the word and the man went on his way. And when he came, his servants came and said, “Don’t trouble the master, your servant’s already healed.” When did he get healed? Yesterday at this time. The same hour that Jesus spoke. Praise God. You see, Jesus spoke the word and the word set people free. Praise God. And when this man came to Jesus, Jesus said, I am marveling at his faith. Praise God. And so, Jesus just kept speaking the word, healing the sick. Praise God. People can be healed by the power of the Word of God. Psalm 107:20 says, “He sent his word and healed them “and delivered them from their oppressions.” I’ve only been able to share part of one message, but we’ve got these series and we’ve got nine lessons, at least nine lessons on divine healing. Mine are three each. Barbara’s might be three or four, but we’ve got at least nine lessons on divine healing. Mine is a “Covenant of Healing” that we’ve been teaching this week. I didn’t even get through three lessons in four broadcasts this week, but praise God. The Bible says, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. I want you to get these teachings. I want you to share these with people that need to be healed, because the scriptures will build people’s faith so they can receive the power of God. And you can see that you have a covenant right to be healed. And then I have this one on, “The Cross is the Cure”. Jesus paid for our sickness and paid for our healing at the same time. He was wounded for our transgressions, and by his stripes, we are healed. Thank God the cross is the cure today. Amen. And you can receive the healing power of God today because of the cross. And then we have this one, we just read about it in Luke chapter six, it says, the power of the Lord was present to heal him. This is by my wife, Pastor Barbara. She has a powerful teaching anointing and healing anointing. She flows many times in the word of knowledge, and we see lots of people healed by the power of God. And so, if you don’t have these, we have a special offer. You can get all three or you can get any one of these teachings on divine healing. And thank God Jesus is the healer. Thank God. You know what? If I didn’t hear this message, I would’ve been dead long time ago, but praise God, the Word works. And the Word’s working in me, and I am believing the Word of God today. So if you need these teachings, you can give us a call. If you need prayer, you can give us a call. We have prayer ministers that are here to pray for you. If you would like to partner with us and take this message of the grace of God and this message of God’s love and healing power to the world, we would love to hear from you today. Praise God. It’s our partners that make this possible. And so, I thank God every day for our partners. And you know what? There is a strong anointing of increase on this ministry. And if you’ll get connected with this ministry in giving, I believe that you can be connected with this ministry of receiving, and you can receive this blessing in your own life. I certainly hope that you receive the broadcast. If you need prayer, if you wanna become a partner, if you wanna receive product, give us a call today. We would love to hear from you. We’re gonna be back next week, teaching on “The Cross is the Cure” and the “Covenant of Healing”. I haven’t even finished up one series this week, but you tell your friends about this broadcast, and we want you to receive God’s work and receive his power and love in Jesus’ name. Blessings.
