Praise the Lord friends, I’m so glad that you tuned in today. We’re gonna be talking about the covenant of healing. I’m gonna be talking today from Matthew 15, that healing is the children’s bread. And you know what? We have a covenant right to be healed. And when you understand what God promises, and what Jesus has done, you can be healed in your body. So get your Bible, open your heart, and receive the word of God. Praise the Lord friends, we are teaching today on the covenant of healing, and we’re beginning from Matthew 15, and we’re gonna begin in verse 21. We’re gonna talk about the Canaanite woman’s faith. And this is a beautiful story of healing and how she pressed through by faith and received from Jesus, who is the grace of God, and received the healing of her daughter. And it’s a very unique story, very unusual story, but it shows us that healing is the children’s bread. In other words, we have a covenant right as believers to be healed in our body. In fact, when we study the covenant, we find that we have just as much right to be healed in our body as we do to be forgiven for our sins, because Jesus paid for our healing and for our forgiveness at the same time. So we’re gonna begin here in Matthew 15:21, “Then Jesus went there and departed into the coast of Tyre and Sidon and behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coast and cried under him saying, ‘Have mercy on me, Oh Lord son of David. My daughter is grievously vexed with the devil’ And he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and saw him and said, ‘Send her away, for she cries after us.” “Lord, would you get rid of this strange woman? She’s just bugging us. “And he answered and said, ‘I’m not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” So essentially when Jesus came the first time, until he was crucified and rose again, he basically said I’m only sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. He told his disciples of a number of times only go to the loss sheep of the house of Israel. Now, after he was crucified and resurrected from the dead, he said, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature, he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them who believe, among those, they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.” Now, “Then she came after Jesus said, I’m not sent, but to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, and she worshiped him and she said, Lord, help me. And he answered and said, ‘It’s not right, it’s not sufficient to take the children’s bread and to cast it to the dogs.” Essentially, you know what? Jesus called this woman a dog. And you know, most people would’ve gone home before this, but she wasn’t put off. Faith is not gonna be put off. And most people would’ve got angry, right? But she wasn’t looking for an argument, she wasn’t looking to be right, she wasn’t looking to justify her position. She wasn’t looking for the reason why this wouldn’t work. She was just looking for how it could work, and she did not quit. And so when Jesus spoke to her and said, it’s not right to take the children’s bread and cast it to the dogs, I want you to see something right there. Healing is the children’s bread, we have a covenant right as believers to be healed in our body, because just at the same time that Jesus took stripes on his back, praise God for our healing. The Bible says that he was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our inequities. So at the same time that he was wounded for our transgressions, by his stripes, we were healed. So Jesus has provided healing at the same time that he provided forgiveness. Now, we’re gonna look at this at a number of places through the scriptures this week. And she said, “Truth Lord, I agree with you.” That healing is the children’s bread. And it’s not right to take the children’s bread and cast to the dogs, but she said, “Yeah, Lord.” See? Faith is just looking for one little crack, one little glimmer of hope. “And she said, ‘Yet the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters table.” Jesus answered and said under her in verse 28, “Woman, great is your faith, be it unto you even as you will.” You know what your will has a lot to do with what you receive from God. You know, Jesus told blind Bartimaeus in Mark 10:51, “What do you will that I do unto you?” Jesus told the man, the lame man at the pool of Bethesda in John 5, he said, “What do you want? What is your will? Will you be made well? You know what? We need to get our will in agreement with God’s will. And as believers we find out it is the will of God to heal us, because Jesus paid for our healing and there is a covenant of healing. And so she just, again, she wasn’t looking for an argument, she wouldn’t be put off, she wasn’t looking to be right, she wasn’t trying to justify her position. She was just looking for the truth. And she wasn’t looking for why it wouldn’t work, she was looking for how it could work, and she did not quit. She said, yes, that’s right, Lord, that even the dogs, it’s not right to take the children’s bread and cast it to the dogs. Now, I want you to know that you’re not a dog today. If you’re born again, you’re a child of almighty God, and you have a covenant right to be healed. But she says, “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.” She’s saying, Jesus one crumb of your power is gonna deliver my oppressed daughter. One crumb of your power is gonna set my sick daughter free. And he said, “Woman, great is your faith. Be it unto you, even as you will.” Again, what do you want? Praise God. You need to make up your mind, I want what God wants for me, I want what the Bible promises me. I want what Jesus paid for me to have. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. Now, when we study that word for made whole, the Greek word in Matthew 15:28, for made whole is this word iaomai, and it means to cure, to heal, or make whole. Her daughter was cured, her daughter was healed, her daughter was made whole, her daughter was made well, that very hour, the scripture says. So thank God, this woman pressed into Jesus, who is the grace of God by faith, and she received healing for her daughter. Now, there are lots of examples in the scriptures of people coming to Jesus and receiving their healing. Jesus represents the grace of God, and we come to him by faith so we can receive what he’s provided. But I want you to see today that this is a covenant right. And so we’re gonna look at Isaiah. Isaiah was written, Isaiah prophesied about 700 years. So 600-700 years before Christ. And in Isaiah 53, he said this in verse one, we’ll go through verse five. He says, “Who has believed our report?” What are we believing about Jesus? What are we believing about the scripture? “And to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?” If you want Jesus really represents the arm of the Lord. If you wanna see Jesus revealed in your life, if you wanna see the works of Jesus revealed in your life, it’s necessary for you to believe the report, to believe the scripture, what the scripture says about him. And he goes on to say, for he’s speaking of Jesus in Isaiah 53:2, “Will grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground. He has no form nor comeliness, and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with griefs.” He says, “Yet we hid as it were our faces from him. He was despised and we did not esteem him.” So Isaiah began to prophesy about Jesus on the cross. You see, we as believers, look at the cross as a place of beauty, but the cross was a place where only the most terrible criminals died. But Jesus died there for a purpose. He was taking our sin, he was taking our sickness, he was taking our anxiety and he was taking our poverty at the cross. And so if we believe in what Jesus did for us at the cross, then we can receive, for his death we can receive life. For his taking our sin, we receive forgiveness, we receive righteousness. For him taking our sickness and our disease, we receive health and healing. For him taking our anxiety, we receive peace. Thank God. And for him taking our poverty, we receive provision. So Jesus made provision for the whole man at the cross. Now he says, in verse four, “Surely, he has born or carried our griefs.” This word griefs is the Hebrew word “coily,” and it means sickness, disease, grief, malady, anxiety, or calamity. Jesus has carried our sickness, he’s carried our disease, our grief, our malady, our anxiety, our calamity, thank God he’s taken them all at the cross. And he says, and he carried our sorrows. The Hebrew word here for sorrows is the word “makov,” and it means pain, sorrow, or physical or mental pain. So Jesus bear our griefs, our sickness, and disease, and carried our sorrows, our pains, physical or mental. And it says, “And we hid as it were our faces from him.” And it says, “Yet we did esteem him, stricken smitten of God and afflicted.” I want you to know that the cross ultimately was not the work of man. The cross ultimately was not the work of the devil. The cross ultimately was the work of God. And when those religious people and different people did what they did to Jesus, when they crucified him, and the Roman government, it wasn’t them ultimately, this was God. And what it says, “He was stricken, smitten of God. He took that judgment for us.” It says in verse six of Isaiah 53, right here after this, “That the Lord laid on him, the iniquity,” the Lord laid on Jesus, the rebellion, the sin of us all. Thank God, and so Jesus was taking our punishment there at the cross. And he says, in verse five, it goes on, he said, in verse four, “He bear or carried our sickness and carried our pain, yet we did esteem him stricken and smitten of God and inflicted.” It was Jesus on the cross, taking our sin, taking our sickness, taking our anxiety, taking our poverty. But then he says in verse five, “But he was wounded for our transgressions.” Jesus was wounded for our transgressions. It was our transgressions that put Jesus on the cross. “He was bruised for our iniquities, for our rebellion.” It says, “The chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes, we are healed.” I want you to see there in Isaiah 53:5, that Jesus made provision for the whole man, spirit, soul, and body. He was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our inequities. That’s spiritually speaking, right? “The chastisement of our peace was upon him.” That’s emotionally speaking, that’s talking about the soulish realm of man. “And with his stripes we’re healed.” That’s physically speaking. So Jesus made provision for the whole man, spirit, soul, and body when he died on the cross and then he rose again. Now notice if we jump into verse six, he says, “All we like sheep have gone astray. We have turned everyone to his own way and the Lord has laid on him, the iniquity of us all.” So even though we were going our own way and doing our own thing, we really needed help. God, the Father laid on Jesus, the sin of us all. And so when Jesus died on the cross, he took our sin, he took our anxiety, took our poverty, and he took our sickness. Glory got him because Jesus took our sickness. We don’t have to take it. I’ll be right back in just a second. Praise, the Lord friends, we are teaching and sharing on the subject of divine healing. Thank God, Jesus made provision for us at the cross. And we have just as much right to be healed in our body as we do to be forgiven for our sins. But how can we receive that in our life? We go through this in detail and I have a healing bundle that I’m sharing with you, I wanna get this to you. You know, the Bible says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. And I know these teachings will build your faith. I have, first of all, my series on “Covenant of Healing.” and then I have my series on “The Cross is the Cure.” And then we have my wife Barbara’s series, and she’s a powerful teacher, and ministers healing in a very powerful and anointed way, on “Present to Heal.” And how to receive divine healing and health in your life. And I want you to call in today and get this. It will help you build your faith and receive from God. Blessings. We were just looking at Jesus and he was dying on the cross and taking our sin. We were looking at Isaiah who prophesied of Jesus in Isaiah 53:4-5, and said, “Jesus bore our griefs and carried our sorrows yet we did esteem him stricken and smitten of God and afflicted, but he was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our inequities. The chastisement of our peace was upon him and with his stripes we are healed.” Now, when we looked at the word grief, the word grief is talking about, it’s “coily,” it’s a Hebrew word, sickness, disease, grief, malady, anxiety, or calamity. And the word for sorrows is the Hebrew word “makov,” and it means pain, sorrows, physical or mental pain. But I wanna turn your attention right here to verse five where it says, “And with his stripes, we are healed.” That word healed is the Hebrew word rapha. It’s the same word that’s used in Exodus 15:26. When the Lord said, “I’ll put none of the evil diseases upon you, which I brought upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord who heals you, I am Jehovah Rapha.” And it says right here, “By his stripes, we are healed, raphad.” Also says in Psalm 103:3, “He forgives all of our sin and he heals, rapha, all of our diseases, that word again, heal, rapha means physician, cure, repair, or to heal. Thank God, Jesus paid for our healing on the cross. This was a prophecy of the cross. Now, if we look at Matthew’s vision of the savior, as we see in Matthew chapter eight, as Jesus was healing the sick, Matthew chapter eight we’ll begin in verse 14. “When Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid in sick with a fever. And he touched her hand and the fever left her and she arose and ministered unto them. And when the evening was come,” this is Matthew 8:16. “They brought onto him many who were possessed with devils, and he cast out the spirits with his word and healed all who were sick.” Now the Greek word here in Matthew 8:16 for healed, it’s “therapeia.” And it means to heal, to cure, to restore to health. Praise God, “He healed all who were sick, those who were diseased, that’s the word in the Greek, it means diseased all who were sick.” And it says “That it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, same himself took our infirmities.” And this word in the Greek means, weakness, disease, or sicknesses, and bear our sicknesses, this word for sicknesses and Matthew 8:17, Jesus bear our sicknesses. So he’s actually freely quoting Isaiah 53:4 and says, “Surely he bear our griefs, he bear our sicknesses.” Griefs is talking about sicknesses. And Matthew’s looking at Jesus healing the sick and saying, this is what Jesus did. And this word for sicknesses in the Greek is nasas. And it means disease, sickness, or infirmity. So Jesus took our disease, he took our sickness and he took our infirmity. And Isaiah looked forward to the cross, prophesied of the cross, right? And said some 600 to 700 years before the cross, Jesus is gonna take our sin, take our anxiety, take our sickness on the cross. And then Matthew looked at Jesus when he was healing the sick and said, this is Jesus doing what Isaiah prophesied about. He took our sicknesses, thank God we have a covenant right to be healed because at the same time that Jesus took, he was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our inequities. He took stripes for our health and our healing. So we have just as much right really to be healed in our bodies as we do to be forgiven for our sins because Jesus paid for forgiveness and for healing at the same time. And we begin to understand this covenant. Most of you, if you came and asked God to forgive you, you believe that’s God’s will. Why do you believe that’s God’s will? Because you read the Scripture, and says that, if we confess our sins, he’s faithful and just to forgive us for our sins. And to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9. And we believe the scripture about that. So when we pray asking God to forgive our sins, we believe that he’s answered our prayers because we believe those scriptures about the forgiveness of sin. And there’s lots of scriptures about the forgiveness of sin. And there’s also lots of scriptures about the healing of our body. But if you have been forgiven as a believer for your sins, you have a right to be healed in your body. Now we saw that in Isaiah 53:4-5, that your forgiveness, your healing, your peace, was all paid for at the same time. But we see in Matthew 8:17, saying the same thing, Jesus paid for our forgiveness in our healing, same thing. So Matthew is looking at Jesus, the Messiah saying, this is the one Isaiah prophesied about, we don’t have to look any further, we don’t have to search any deeper. He has come, he is here, praise God. Now you can see this all through the scriptures, Jesus understood that he was anointed by God to heal the sick. And so Jesus went out and began to heal the sick, just over and over and over again. He saw sick people healed. He saw people who were tormented set free, delivered by the power of God. You know, Jesus is the healer, he saw people who were living in sin forgiven, to sin no more. He saw all kinds of wonderful miracles. And you know, if we stay connected to Jesus, we’re gonna see some miracles too, Hallelujah. And I just prayed for a man on Sunday and he had no pulse. When I prayed for him, they called me, it was at church, in between services and one of my closest friends, and I ran over there and he was, they were gathering around and praying, and I laid hands on his chest and I commanded it. You see, we have some medical people, but they were all gone. We have some medical equipment, they were all, I commanded his heart in the name of Jesus. I commanded that heart to operate, Hallelujah. And I commended his blood to flow. He was gray, actually gray when turning white and his head was sweating like he’s in cardiac arrest. But, we had one person took his pulse that he has no pulse, praise God, but hallelujah, he just like that responded. Now, this man is a man of faith. He’s been speaking for years, I’ve heard him speak the word. He’s 81 years old I believe this year. And he’s been saying, I’m gonna live to be 107. He’s a picture of health, praise God. And he’s constantly believing speaking the word and everybody else gets sick, this man doesn’t get sick. Praise God. But here, the devil tried to snatch it, we took authority over that right there. In fact, a few years ago, at the beginning of the pandemic, his son was upset with me for opening up the church said, what if my parents get sick and die? But he told them after a while that he’d been upset with me. But he told his parents after this issue, he said, Hey, I’m sure glad that you were at church. I’m sure glad people were right there where they could pray for you. Praise God. We sent him down to the hospital, they checked him all out, the emergency room. Couldn’t find anything wrong, kept him all night, checked everything out, can’t find anything wrong. I went down to see him. He said, yeah, I was gone, but I came back, hallelujah. His wife said, yeah, sure enough, I thought you left me early. And but he said, no, I’m gonna live to be 107, he said it again, praise God. Well, you better watch what you’re confessing, you might get it, Praise God. So you better get your confession in line with the word of God. And why is that so odd that somebody would believe to be 107? You know, he told me, he told me this probably close to 20 years ago. He said, I went to my investment, man, he said, how long do we need to plan for your retirement? He said, plan that I’ll live till I’m 107, because he had asked the Lord, and the Lord said plan to live till you’re 107. He said, okay. So he told that, man, that’s what I’m believing for is 107 years. And praise God, he’s living healthy and living strong and praise God, the word of God is working. You know, there’s too many people looking for a lake and a rocking chair, and there’s nothing wrong with a lake and a rocking chair. But you know, we need to be productive in life, and we need to have a purpose, and we need to have goals that are bigger than ourselves and be ministering the grace of Jesus to people. Now we saw healing and we saw it in Isaiah and we saw it in Matthew that this woman, that healing is the children’s of bread. But I wanna turn to 1 Peter, because you know, Isaiah looked forward 600 to 700 years before the cross and saw the cross. Matthew looked at Jesus and Jesus healing, and said, this is what Isaiah was talking about. And then Peter looks back on in 1 Peter 2, so I wanna go over there really quickly and read in 1 Peter 2, and we’ll begin reading. I think about verse 22, 1 Peter 2:22, notice what it says here, “Speaking of Jesus, who did no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth, who, when he was reviled did not revile again. When he suffered, he threatened not, but committed himself to him who judges righteously, who his own self bear our sins in his own body on the tree, that we being dead sin should live under righteousness. By whose stripes you were healed.” Now, Peter looks back on the cross, Isaiah says by his stripes, we are healed, looking forward to the cross. Peter looks back on the cross and says, “By his stripes, you were healed.” Now this word healed again here in the Greek, is the Greek word “iaomai,” which means to cure, to heal, or make whole. He says in verse 25, “For we were his sheep going astray, but are now returned to the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.” I wanna encourage you friends today to study these messages. We’ve got a number of teachings on healing, and you know, the Covenant of Healing. And I’ve been seeing people heal for years and years. I started pastoring 33-34 years ago, praise God. And we’ve seen people healed and miraculous healings ever since we started pastoring, but you know what? I actually went out and preached meetings in my teens and saw people healed by the power of God. It would amaze me, I’d pray for them and man, the power of God, come on them they’d be healed. And I remember lame people walking, coming in crutches and leaving without them, coming the next year, the same meeting, praise God. So I’ve got the series on the Covenant of Healing, and we have a covenant of healing. And I’m gonna be teaching on this all this week, that’s what I’m teaching on today. And then I have a series on The Cross is the Cure, and praise God, Jesus provided healing at the cross. We’ve been talking about that today, and we saw it in Isaiah, we saw it in Matthew, we saw it in 1 Peter. But then my wife, Barbara has a series, and she’s got a powerful anointing to teach and seen many people heal, Present to Heal, thank God Jesus is present, the Lord is present to heal. He had just flowed and he just received, praise God. He just came back, his heart started beating, his blood started flowing. You know his eyes had rolled up in his head. It was, you know, we put him in a wheelchair, we sent him down to the hospital, get him all checked out. I went down to the hospital when I got done with church a few hours later. And man, his color was just, he was pink and healthy and whole laughing and said, praise God, I’m back. And we were actually supposed to go out to lunch that day. He said, pastor, we’re still gonna go out to lunch, and I’m gonna buy your dinner, thank you for praying for me, praise God. You know, the word of God works, and we have people that will pray for you.
