I. Healing of the man at the pool of Bethesda. John 5:1-18
Bethesda-House of kindness.
Sick for 38 years.Will you be made whole? Difference between Covenant and Kindness.
I have no man… Looking at man… Jeremiah 17:5-8
Rise take up your bed and walk… Heard the Word of Jesus… Responded… Psalm 107:20
Healed by the spoken Word of Jesus. (7 ways that Jesus healed people).
- Gift of faith.
- Working of Miracles.
- Gifts of Healing.
- Laying on of hands.
- Spoken Word.
- Deliverance.
- Prayer of faith.
Sin no more. Healed for a purpose. I John 3:8
My Father works, and I work. Don’t blame me; blame my Father. (John 14:10-12)
A-What is our will in the matter?
B-Looking to Jesus or looking to man?
C-Responding to the Words of Jesus?
D-Living for a Purpose?
II. Judgement has been given to Jesus. John 5:19-30
The Son does the works of the Father. V 19-21
The Father gives life. The Son gives life.Judgment has been given to Jesus. V 22-27
Faith leads you out of condemnation into life. V 24 (Romans 8:1)
Jesus understands our challenges. I Corinthians 10:13, Hebrews 4:15
Jesus is LORD over death. LORD of eternity. He is a just judge.
Two Resurrections. Two judgments.
- Resurrection of the just. Christ comes for His church. I Thessalonians 4:13-18, I Co 15:51-58.
- Resurrection of the unjust. Great White Throne. Revelation 20:11-15
Jesus is a just judge. John 5:30 (John 12:44-50).
III. Bearing witness of Jesus. John 5:31-47
V 31-If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
Proverbs 27:2 Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger and not your own lips.
“Beware how much of your own press you read”.
John bore witness of Jesus. V 32-35 John 1:6-9
Jesus works bore witness of Him. V 36 (John 14:11)
The Father bore witness of Jesus. V 37(J 1:32-34, Matt 3:16-17, Mark 1:10-11, Luke 3:21-22; Mt 17:5).
The Word bore witness of Jesus. v 38-39
What is the reason people don’t come to Jesus?
- They don’t love God. V 40-42
- They don’t love the Word. V 43-47.
Conclusion: If you love God and love His Word, you will come to Jesus. You will stand before God in eternity righteous, redeemed, healed and whole. Come to Jesus; keep loving God and continue to believe the Word. You will be well in eternity!
